Man, seriously... Simone Biles is basically Naomi Campbell compared to those runners from Ethiopia and Kenya. It’s just a total socialite party at the 800m... what a joke.

🙂
Yeah, I’m sitting here watching Caster warming up and stripping down while all those girls are just hanging around...
And honestly, when it comes to Peréz? I think I'd actually prefer hanging out with some cheap, knockoff Japanese doll from China.

So, this Peréz lady is a bit on the masculine side... even by disk standards.

Man, I'm right there with you on that one...

The people over at 12 miles 😬

are driving me insane...

Look, you and I aren't even playing the same game here. 🙂

Aaron Kim2 said:this is a total disaster. Why couldn't they just scrap this discipline entirely—or at least scale it back for future meets 25 miles—so someone could actually finish and win a medal 🙄

Oh, right, because women are totally equal, right?

Man, I can't even look at this walking crap anymore. It seriously drives me nuts seeing how much faster they’re moving than my actual running pace.
44 minutes for the center, then 42 minutes for the other one... absolute madness!

And yeah, even Bolt left with nothing but silver. Same goes for Mo...

Yeah, I’m with you there, but still... she shaved 4 cm off her record and cleared two meters at that age? That's definitely something to celebrate... regardless of the drama.

And then celebrating after hitting 2.01... 🙂
Maybe he's just totally wiped out?

I went to Los Angeles and took my shot. 😉

Man, I just hope they don't blow it now... otherwise we're looking at three X on Sunday 🤣

Hell, could be 5 X if they hit around 69 in the third... 🙂
All these calls to ban the games would carry way more weight if the "real" topics were actually oases of wisdom or constructive debate instead...
Between all the endless pages of people trolling about how much away tickets cost, fans dissecting every single controversial play, or just straight-up trash-talking two or three of the biggest clubs in Spain—which basically means skipping over a bunch of boring pages in the thread—these demands for bans just end up sounding a little pathetic and unserious, you know?

Got to be some kind of injury... maybe a muscle tear or something?

I didn't catch any of that in my messy little recap, so thanks for the heads-up!

2. It really just comes down to the runner, you know? It used to be the standard move to go out slow, save all that energy for the home stretch, but recent data—looking at guys like Usain Bolt—shows you actually get better times if you just hammer the first lap, burn it up, then basically crawl across the finish line completely spent. For the longer distances, they still tend to stick to a "chill" pace during the race and then kick hard at the end.

Thanks for the reply, man, but I gotta say, I’m not really feeling either of those points. 🙂

1. Is that like, an official reason or something? I mean, I'm assuming they didn't just screw up the track construction, right? The curves on lane one should be just as sharp as any other track in the US. I mean, even the 100m sprinters run lanes 2 through 9 sometimes.
I can't catch every single second of this championship, so I was just wondering if there was some actual logic behind it... because to me, it just looks kinda ridiculous.

2. From what I've seen watching track for a long time now, my gut tells me that "positive split" on the 800m has always been the norm. I haven't been sitting here crunching the stats, obviously, but I can't recall a single race where the second lap was actually faster... it always feels off to me. I did a quick skim online just now and found some stuff about how the aerobic and anaerobic systems clash in that specific race, which sounds pretty much like what you were explaining.

If we just had one decent reporter on the sidelines to actually grill her and the coach about the real reason behind all this. They both claim they know what's up, but the guy holding the mic is just sitting there not asking the hard questions... nothing.

Daniel Cooper40 said:Listening to all this talk, I’m getting the feeling something is seriously off... they both seem pretty 🤷

If only we had an actual reporter on the ground to just ask her and the coach what the hell the reason actually is. They both claim they know why, but the guy holding the mic is too busy being useless to even ask the question...

1. So, seriously, why does every single race have to be on lanes 2 through 9?
2. And I honestly can’t wrap my head around why at the 800m, the second lap is always—without fail—just a few seconds slower than the first one. Every single time...

Thirdly, let's be real—ups and downs are just part of the deal when you're a young athlete. Even with a mark of 64.95, I don't see any reason to call this a total bust.
Though, honestly, I’m inclined to agree that maybe it was mostly a mental game thing here. And by "mental game," I don't mean they completely choked or anything...
