So you actually thought that was a real fight for anything???😕
Sixteen drivers didn't even finish that race, so basically only five guys were actually competing for the win 👋
it’s kind of like the US in 2005 when they were also just "battling" against a tiny group of five...

Jason Campbell70 said:Which Jack? Brabham... yeah, now he was a total legend.👍

Jack Villeneuve is honestly just a jerk, a complete loser, and a third-rate driver who basically coasted into a championship-caliber car—you know, one that actually had a shot at winning—just because his old man was famous.☕

The only real "flaw" Jack had was that he had a massive mouth and never thought twice about telling people off, which made him pretty unpopular. It’s a huge contrast to Schummi, who was just a two-faced, phony piece of work.

Back in '96 and '97, this one driver was pulling absolute magic in a car that was honestly slow and super unreliable.
That guy was none other than Michael Schumacher.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Oh yeah, he definitely pulled a miracle when he smashed into Jack in '97 because he just couldn't hold it together, which ended up getting him disqualified.
For what it's worth, FYI, Jack had five DNFs plus a disqualification that year, while MS only had four.

Hey, I can't really be blamed for this! You were probably still in diapers back in '96 and '97, so you obviously missed out on witnessing those absolutely legendary driving performances firsthand. 🤷

silentorca492 said:It’s always such an easy excuse to just blame the car. People used to dog on Hill for having the best ride while being a "weak" driver. If we followed that logic, any random amateur could be a world champion if they just sat in a fast car. But let’s be real—Ferrari was a total mess before Schumacher showed up. He basically rebuilt Ferrari into the powerhouse it is today. The absolute legends are the ones who actually shape the cars into winners. Is there a single champion out there who didn't have the top car? Nope. Even Barrichello and Irvin had the exact same machinery and they were just fighting for scraps because, honestly, they weren't elite tier.

Actually, Alonso was a champ who didn't have the best car back in 2006. During the first half of the season, the cars were pretty much neck-and-neck, but then Schumacher got a significantly better machine in the second half and that's why he pulled away.
Man, it's like you've been living on Mars and just landed yesterday 🤣 Barrichello and Irvin wouldn't have even stood a chance at a win if the team and Schumacher hadn't paved the way for them. Everyone knows who the real #1 was and how the whole setup revolved around him. Wake up, man!! 😵

cosmicmoose said:@ ovac: true, the numbers don't lie, but HOLD UP—back in those 2 or 3 years during the early 2000s when Ferrari was basically in a league of their own, Schumacher just absolutely crushed it. He stacked up those three titles and about 40 wins without even breaking a sweat because there was zero competition... I mean, the next fastest guys were trailing by a full second per lap. Nobody's seeing results like that anymore.
If you take those few dominant years out of the equation, his stats would look pretty mediocre, honestly.

Spot on. Most people just don't get that part... 🤷

Mark Ruiz8 said:Man, you're totally overreacting here. Where did you even get this idea about Villeneuve? 🤣

Honestly, if someone spent their entire career driving a competitive car—even if it wasn't necessarily the absolute best one on the grid—they’d probably pull off better results than Schumacher. And yeah, he really held his own back in '97. In fact, he should've been the champ in '96 if Williams hadn't bumped Hill up to the number one driver spot during his rookie F1 season. Even when he was grinding it out in those mid-tier cars or struggling with the BAR Honda setups, he always squeezed every last drop out of the machine, consistently grabbing 3rd or 4th place despite having a pretty mediocre ride. I honestly don't get why more people didn't recognize what an incredible talent he was. For me, watching him drive in '96 and '97 was just pure magic. If he had landed a seat with a top-tier team instead of going to BAR, we'd still be talking about how legendary he was today.

Bradley Nelson2 said:Most people are on board with this, while the tiny minority disagrees. And honestly? That minority is just plain wrong.

😕
Most folks are calling Senna the GOAT, if you haven't noticed already. Personally, I’d put Prost and Alonso right up there with him—based on the races I actually caught them driving, anyway. There might be some older legends out there too, but yeah. As for Microsoft, he’s only at number four. He’s maybe a hair better than Jack Villeneuve, but honestly, they’re probably neck and neck in my book. It's totally debatable.

silentorca492 said:Like, based on what? He isn't even the current world champ, and he didn't even win in Melbourne,

Look, he might not be the current champ, but the guy is a two-time world champion. Honestly, he probably would've taken it last year too if he hadn't gone at war with his entire crew. 😂😂😂 I mean, does he really need to win every single race just to prove to you that he's an elite driver? 😕😂
silentorca492 said:Yeah, yeah, the season isn't even over yet. BTW, in case you weren't paying attention, Kimi was rated the fastest driver during testing. He just had an off day.

That's exactly why I said maybe we'll see more later...
BTW, if you haven't realized this yet, testing and actual races are two totally different beasts. I have no idea how you can even compare them? 😕
silentorca492 said:And also, all this talk about the old electronic aids; like, now we're finally gonna see who the real drivers are. Lewis Hamilton was a huge supporter of those electronic aids because he basically said, "Give me all the electronics possible so I can squeeze absolute perfection out of the car," and he was right. Nobody else could extract that much from a machine and drive like him. The power-to-weight ratio today without electronics versus last year with them is basically the same thing. So, there's no need to make a mountain out of a molehill here; everyone will adapt. It’s not some big mystery.

Who told you Lewis Hamilton is the GOAT? Most people in the world would totally disagree with you.

Mark Ruiz8 said:Lewis Hamilton was in a league of his own 🙏

Totally blanked on mentioning Lewis...
Man, what "league of his own"? Nothing spectacular happened there today. He didn't need to push at all—he even said it himself—so there wasn't really any room for him to mess up. He basically just cruised around the track from start to finish. The crew absolutely crushed it for him again, and he just drove exactly what he needed to secure the win. That’s it. No complaints here, but I'm definitely not handing out any massive praise for his driving today either.

Mark Ruiz8 said:You're generalizing too much. Both Kimi Räikkönen and Fernando Alonso are incredible drivers. Anyone can make a silly mistake now and then—just look back at when Alonso went off at turn one a couple of times during the race in Canada last year. Does that mean he can't drive?
Plus, in my book, those two mistakes don't really have anything to do with lacking TC. The first time he just pushed way too hard, and the second time he just caught the grass.

Honestly, you can count Alonso's mistakes on one hand if you try hard enough, whereas Kimi Räikkönen definitely had a few more throughout his career. But that's water under the bridge now; driving without TC is a whole different ballgame.
That's just how I see it, and I bet it'll prove true in the upcoming races. I'll probably end up quoting my own old posts a bunch of times this season just to remind you...

Mark Ruiz8 said:Ferrari totally blew it!!!
Felipe Massa was just disappointing, such a weak drive. And Kimi was making rookie mistakes out there.
Lewis Hamilton was on a whole different level. 🙏

Honestly, Felipe Massa has been a letdown for a long time now. I have no clue why Ferrari is dragging their feet on replacing him, because the guy just isn't winning championships, no matter what car he’s sitting in. As for Kimi, I don't even think those were "rookie" mistakes—I think we're finally seeing who he actually is now that all these computer assists aren't doing the heavy lifting for him. That's his true level right there. Time will tell if he keeps messing up like this in future races, but I'm betting it's not bad luck or pushing the limit; it's just pure lack of skill. You can really see the gap when you compare him to Fernando Alonso in this race. They were both pushing hard, but how many mistakes did Fernando make?? Zero. He proved once again that he's easily the best driver in F1 right now. For me, Kimi was the biggest disappointment of this race, maybe even the whole season, but hey, we'll see how it plays out...
