Spain Matchday 27 - April 27, 2008 in Formula 1 ·
Jason Campbell70 said:they really aren't☕

If we’re strictly looking at the official standings, they were tied on points, and Hamilton gets the edge just because he snagged one extra second-place finish—which, honestly, feels like a totally idiotic rule to me.
But if we want to talk about who was actually the better driver...
Head-to-head qualifying: Alonso vs. Hamilton is 8-9.
Head-to-head races: Alonso vs. Hamilton is 10-7.
The gap between those qualifying numbers and the race results tells you everything you need to know about pure driving skill. Most of the time, Alonso was starting behind Hamilton on the grid (7-10), yet he consistently finished ahead of him once the lights went out.
And regarding those seven wins for Hamilton... five of them happened early in the season while Alonso was still struggling with his car setup. For the rest of the year, Hamilton only pulled ahead when Alonso got hit with that penalty in Canada or when he spun out in Japan.
I could probably even run the math on how much the team favored Hamilton during the second half of the season, and if I did, the stats would lean even more heavily toward Alonso.

It’s honestly pretty hilarious to hear people claiming Hamilton was better than Alonso last year just because of a single extra second-place trophy.🙄

neonharbor18 said:Fernando Alonso won it😉, basically because Felipe Massa handed it to him🤣

If we're using your logic where winning just means someone else gave up, then Kimi Raikkonen got his 2007 title because Fernando Alonso didn't finish in Japan, and Lewis Hamilton basically gifted it to him by not finishing in China. By that rule, Michael Schumacher was "gifted" the 2006 championship because he missed out in Japan and Australia, or the 2005 one because Kimi Raikkonen couldn't finish San Marino and Germany. Heck, Kimi even "gave" him the 2003 title since he didn't finish a few races there too. There are a million examples like that, and honestly, how people drive during the season isn't the only thing that determines a champion...
And if Barrichello had snagged about ten wins back in 2004, he would’ve been the champ over Michael Schumacher...
Your logic is totally broken. You're acting like if Massa finishes the race, Fernando Alonso wouldn't get a single point. If my grandma were my grandpa, maybe things would be different... 🤣

Just a quick heads-up to fix that mistake. They actually picked up points in Malaysia too, since 17 drivers crossed the finish line there. 😉

mistybear87 said:yeah, but Nakajima's driving a better car 😬

Sure, he’s got the faster ride, but honestly? He’s such a mediocre driver that even a superior car can't save him. Those three points he scraped together in Australia? He basically lucked into them by finishing dead last🤣 among everyone who actually made it to the finish line. Then he finishes last again in Malaysia. He finally showed a tiny bit of life in Bahrain, clawing his way to 14th, but look at Piquet—in the only race where he didn't have a mechanical failure, he grabbed 11th. Even though Williams is definitely quicker than General Motors, I’d still bet my life that Piquet has a better shot at grabbing three points than Nakajima does at scoring even one more this season. Man, he totally blew his one lucky break in Australia.

Honestly, you can always count on one rainy race throwing everything out the window and making things crazy. If someone else was able to snag those 3 points, then yeah, Piquet definitely has a realistic chance too.

Or am I just being way too optimistic here?

Way too optimistic...

especially from Fernando.
And maybe Nelson pulls in a point or two.

Alonso is already leaving it all out there on the track, so if people think Pike is gonna snag a point, they're dreaming.😕 he can 🙂

Personally, I’m expecting way more...

Just look at how much aero work they've cooked up for Spain. With this car, I honestly think they're going to be fighting for some serious points.

I just tried to top up my DraftKings account using my Visa card, which usually works fine. But now, when I try again—same exact amount, same card—it’s just failing. Has anyone else run into this kind of headache? How do I fix it? It's just my standard checking account...

How long does it usually take for the cash to actually show up in my DraftKings balance once it leaves my checking account?

I’m looking for some solid advice here because I’m on the hunt for an online sportsbook that actually has a massive selection and decent odds specifically for Formula 1.
I already know which brick-and-mortar spots to hit, but now I need to find the right digital home. I’ve narrowed my list down to places like BetMGM, Betway, and a few others I've been eyeing. It’s also a bit of a dealbreaker for me if they don't drop their full race market at least 3 or 4 days before the green flag flies. So, if anyone out there has experience betting on F1 online, please hit me up and share what you know.🙏

🙂 Shhh, don't go mentioning anything about the VIP treatment... Austin Evans is watching our every move!🙂

Arthur Doyle70 said:What if Bambi actually gets donated by Cisco?😁

I mean, honestly? I’d probably just take a chainsaw to his head, shred the whole thing, pull out the brain, box it up, and ship it straight back to VIP via FedEx so their execs could try an "upgrade" on their own gray matter. As for the rest of him? Yeah, that’s all heading straight to the incinerator. 😂😂

Honestly? I’d devour Bambi for breakfast... slice him up into little fillets, toss 'em in the oven, and man, mmmm, pure bliss 🙂

Not some random nonsense.

Why are you picking on me all of a sudden?
Got anything useful to say about the Australian Grand Prix, or what...?

I'm picking on you because you're interesting, 😍That's all!
You didn't actually get mad at me, did you? 😕Haha.
Besides, I've got nothing left to add—I feel like I've already said it all twice.

Now... whether he actually handled it right or totally missed the mark... 🤷

Honestly, you might as well just report everything to the moderator so they can wipe out all your reports, and then instead of having 24 pages of discussion about the Australian Grand Prix, we'll be left with maybe 3 or 4.😂

I mean, what does Coulthard’s square head or Raikkonen grabbing a Budweiser have to do with the United States Grand Prix?? 😕

Man, he just went a little off-topic, but honestly, it’s still not cool that his post got nuked. If someone was bothered by it, they could've just scrolled past. The guy pours his heart out into a massive post, and then—boom—it's gone in a split second... 👎

You and that buddy of yours, Jason Campbell70, act like you two are joined at the hip. Honestly, there might be more to it than just sharing an opinion. 🙂
Classic nostalgia trips... I’ve got a few buddies who are exactly like this. Seriously, you could show them video proof that MS didn't drive a single perfect race in his entire career and they still wouldn't budge. Look, I'm not saying the guy wasn't talented. He was good. He was easily top 5 over the last two decades, which isn't nothing. But the way you guys defend him? It's wild. You'd think he personally went back in time and helped your mothers conceive you just so you could be here today. 🙂
