Well, my labs all came back perfectly fine.
But my blood pressure keeps fluctuating, and it honestly feels just like hypertension most of the time. I'm at a bit of a loss here—what am I supposed to do? Should I just stop being active altogether?😁
Angela Wright said:We’ve covered all the bases already—things like glucose levels, electrolytes, blood pressure... it doesn't hit everyone in the exact same way.
If you're hitting the gym, I'd really suggest not trying to wing it; it's much better to seek out some professional guidance, even if it's just to help map out an customized workout routine.
Forget the gym entirely.🤣 Any kind of strenuous physical activity will do.
But how am I supposed to check my glucose, blood pressure, or electrolyte levels on my own?🤷
I’ve been dealing with something very similar lately. It isn’t quite nausea for me, but more of this intense lightheadedness—like a sudden wave of heat rushing through my head. It feels almost identical to those moments when my blood pressure starts to spike.🤷
Does anyone have any insight into what might be causing this?
Honestly, I wouldn't go so far as to bet that they won't find anything. You really need to take this situation seriously!
And it also feels to me like you haven't even mentioned this to your parents yet.🤷

Honestly, I wouldn't wish this kind of experience on my worst enemy. We’re talking fainting spells, vomiting, and pain so intense it feels unbearable. I have tried everything under the sun—every pill, every herbal tea, every homeopathic drop you can think of—but nothing touches it. The only thing that provides even a modicum of relief is using those hormonal suppositories; I’ve been relying on them for a few years now. They kick in about 20 minutes after application and hold steady for maybe six or seven hours, then I have to do it all over again. It’s an endless cycle. I don't think I'll ever truly get over the trauma of this. People always say that once you have children, the pains subside, but I find it hard to be optimistic about that. It’s mentally draining. The week leading up to it is just as bad because the PMS kicks in, and then the actual arrival happens, it passes, I recover just enough to breathe, and then the whole ordeal starts all over again. On top of that, I have a really fast metabolism; I’m quite thin, and even if I try to gain weight, I lose it all the moment my period arrives. If I’m being honest, I feel a deep sense of envy toward women who don't feel anything at all—women who just function normally, go about their business, and actually stick to their plans. For me, I have to check my calendar before I dare to schedule anything. So many plans have fallen through because of this... including a trip to New York City I was supposed to take this very weekend!🙂
You aren't alone.😢 Even though I don't deal with the physical pain, my bleeding gets incredibly heavy from time to time. I also get hit with intense nausea and stomach issues. Every single plan I make feels like it's held hostage by my cycle; I’m basically its prisoner.🙂 Just the thought of it approaching makes me feel sick to my stomach.🙄
I’ve always struggled with low blood pressure, but lately, things seem to have finally leveled out into a more normal range. It usually sits right around 120/80, with my bottom number hovering near 110/65
To be honest, I’ve always had a much stronger craving for salt than for sugar, but lately, that urge for something salty has become almost overwhelming. It gets to the point where if a craving hits me in the middle of the night, I’m prepared to drive across town just to find something savory.🤣
Since I’m dealing with frequent digestive issues, it feels like I’m constantly losing electrolytes through my system,🤷 so I end up drinking a massive amount of water.
On the flip side, it feels a bit counterintuitive because I struggle with hypoglycemia quite often, yet I almost never feel the need to reach for sweets.😕
There have been nights where, if I haven't eaten anything for dinner, I’ll wake up drenched in a cold sweat, shaking and feeling completely drained. It’s like I only have a tiny two or three-minute window before I actually collapse before I can get some glucose into my system. Once I do, the relief is instant.
I’m trying to wrap my head around how this connection between salt and sugar works, because to me, these two sensations seem to be pulling in opposite directions. Does anyone know what kind of blood work or specific tests I should ask my doctor for to figure this out?
I’ve been wondering about the logic behind this too.
Even during those brutal midwestern winters when the temperature drops well below zero, I still feel this constant need to crack a window and get some fresh air circulating, which usually just earns me some strange looks from everyone else in the house.🙄 For me, it’s almost like my brain just hits a wall and stops functioning properly whenever the air gets too stale or heavy.
I have my doubts that it's unexplainable.🤷
It’s likely that an autopsy would have revealed some kind of underlying issue...
Angela Wright said:Man, I still remember when one single cocktail absolutely wrecked me a few years ago—and I’m talking just two small glasses. The vertigo and nausea were unreal. There's no magic fix. Your best bet is to purge whatever you can, chug fluids—tea if possible—and just find a quiet corner to sit in and wait for the storm to pass. And for heaven's sake, stay away from greasy, fried food—so yeah, forget about grabbing a Donut in a situation like that.
Never drink on an empty stomach, never drink alone, and if you absolutely have to go out, make sure there’s always a sober person nearby, especially if you start getting sick.
From what I've gathered during my own long history with alcohol, those cocktails and similar drinks are truly the worst kind of evil. 🤣It's all those sugary flavors.
I don't think I've ever retched as badly as I did after having some fruit-flavored vodka. And that was with a relatively low alcohol content, even though I had a full glass. I spent the entire day stuck in bed feeling completely miserable. It's funny, because I could probably knock back 10 to 15 Jäger shots and feel like a brand-new person the next morning.😂😂
Patrick King7 said:restlesscobra9 might be looking at an allergic reaction to alcohol. Redness and shortness of breath are the usual red flags for allergies. Then there’s the heart palpitations 🤷
If it's the booze, just quit. I used to get these sharp pains around my eye, so I cut it out. Now the pain is gone, I don't drink, and life is better.
I have a feeling that's what it is too, though I never realized an allergy could just suddenly show up out of nowhere like that.🙂
I used to be able to drink like a fish!🤣
😢
I’ve noticed that whenever I have a drink, after a little while my face starts flushing red,😕 almost like my nose gets slightly congested and my heart begins to race just a bit faster than usual.🤷
And it isn't even about being drunk or having had much to begin with. For instance, just yesterday I had two shots of tequila and experienced the exact same thing.🤷
It wasn't ever like this before—I suppose it's just one of those things that happens as you get older.🤣

I also feel for my parents and my sister. They want to step in and help so badly, but they don't know how—they can't. It hurts to see them saddened by seeing me this way, knowing there's nothing they can do to fix it.
I think part of their pain comes from the fact that they don't truly grasp what this is like. They say they understand, but they don't—not really. They try, they talk to me about it, but they still can't wrap their heads around the reality of being unable to function simply because I'm spinning out—feeling physically sick to my stomach, or feeling like my heart is going to burst out of my chest. There's no physical cause for it, which makes it harder to explain. I don't blame them, though; I doubt I could ever fully grasp it if the roles were reversed.
Anyway, I've gone on a bit of a rant here 😁. It isn't about not deserving love—it's just hard to watch the ripple effect my condition has on the people I care about.
The only thing I truly regret is how he keeps hurting me, even if it’s never intentional. It’s just that someone who hasn't walked in those shoes can't possibly grasp the reality of this struggle. He acts out of the best intentions and tries to help with his advice, but to me, it feels like he’s just picking at a wound that hasn't had the chance to heal yet.😢
It's exhausting.🙄

Well, look, if I'm being honest, there was a period in my life where I felt like I was actually breathing deep and living fully, and compared to that, everything I'm going through right now feels like nothing more than a pale, hollow imitation of a real life...
fadedbear92 said:Someone actually suggested I open this thread—though, to be honest, it’s something I’ve been chewing on for quite a while now.
For those of you who have come to terms with where you are and are managing things through therapy or medication: in what ways do you feel "diminished"? I personally feel we all carry some kind of weight from it, though I suppose that really depends on how intense the struggle is at any given moment... anyway, if you're feeling up to it, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Do you think there’s a silver lining here? Like, have we gained any unique perspectives or qualities because of this struggle that we might have missed otherwise?
The only thing that could potentially be framed as a silver lining is a heightened sense of empathy or being hypersensitive to what others need. While that might be a gift for the people around me, it certainly doesn't feel like one for my own sake.🤣
I've learned to stop judging anyone, because you truly never know the invisible weights someone else is carrying, and it's impossible to measure someone else's journey using your own yardstick—even though that's exactly what most people tend to do.
But honestly, I don't find any real benefit in those traits.
I can't say that all of this has enriched my life in any significant way.
Unless, of course, there's some truth to the idea that suffering somehow refines the soul.🙄
I honestly feel like I’m eighty years old sometimes... during the summer, I have to stay tucked away in air-conditioned rooms just to survive, almost like someone dealing with a chronic heart condition. It gets to the point where breathing feels like a chore, and this overwhelming sense of exhaustion just pins me down for half the day...
I’d say you should probably take all that anxiety and channel it toward something else—like your phone instead.🙂
