The Doors... my first and only true love. I’ve scrolled through so many threads in the 'The Doors' discussion where people claim they're just a band for teenagers—something you "grow out of" once you hit adulthood. I don't get it. I started listening to them when I was sixteen, and here I am, four years later, still getting the same rush from their tracks as I did on day one. And honestly? My head is perfectly fine. I'm not some erratic kid acting on whims; those impulses ended back in middle school. They just never get old, even if their run was tragically short without Jim Morrison... I just can't wrap my head around how something you genuinely love can supposedly expire just because you've aged.

Brandon Lee was shot on the set of the movie 'The Crow'. Some kind of freak accident happened where a live round ended up in the chamber instead of a blank... He passed away just a few hours later following a failed surgery.

I'm not even sure if I've quite grasped the point here, but...

David Carradine passed away—basically, he choked during a solo session in his hotel room while they were out in Bangkok filming Stretch.

Cinematically speaking... Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) — I really think Jackman is just perfect for the part. He’s got that serious, brooding, sarcastic vibe, yet he stays positive... just like the comic version.
Hulk (Eric Bana) — It’s not even really about Bana (though he did a solid job), it’s more about Ang Lee. He actually delivered an incredible Hulk here. Visually? Stunning. The story? Solid. In my opinion, it’s the most underrated superhero movie out there. It’s sitting at a 5.7 on IMDb?! Meanwhile, that one with Norton—which was way, way worse in my eyes—has a 6.9. I’d give the second one a 5.7, and this one a solid 7.2 or 7.3...

Look, back then, all these legends would just "borrow" from one another, and nobody ever made a scene because there was this mutual respect... a genuine appreciation for the craft. Nowadays, things have shifted. There are a million riffs floating around out there already, so it’s hardly surprising when you run into something that sounds familiar...

Look, I’m all for rock 'n' roll too, man... but I’m not about that cutting veins business, those crazy rituals, or setting fire to a closet with your girl locked inside. And I'm pretty damn sure Jim Morrison didn't envision rock 'n' roll looking like that either... 😉

Adolf Hitler in Final Fall was portrayed much more effectively than Morrison was in this one...

Since we both know (I can tell by your avatar), The Doors aren't like your typical rock bands (and I listen to plenty of others), they are "like opera." It’s one or the other; you either love them or you don't. There is no middle ground.

I'm not saying the movie couldn't have been better, but regarding Val Kilmer's portrayal of Morrison specifically, I don't see any flaws in his performance.

Like I said before, the music is good. The concert scenes are pretty solid, despite a few flaws, but still... that concert in Miami where he's dancing with ghosts and then with the crowd is a great addition to the film. Even if it didn't happen exactly like that, it's the director's "artistic touch." But Morrison outside of those concerts? In the movie, he's a total wreck. In reality, he wasn't quite that bad. There are plenty of interviews and videos showing he was a normal guy—maybe a little eccentric, sure, but not some complete maniac. But in this film... he is.

The movie is just mediocre. I’ll watch it if it happens to be on TV, but honestly, it's only for the soundtrack...
Stone really butchered the portrayal of Morrison. Look, everyone knows Jim struggled with drinking, but depicting him as being totally destroyed from age zero to twenty-four is just ridiculous. He didn't show a single redeeming quality about Jim; instead, he painted him as this greasy, sick, selfish person. Sure, Jim craved the spotlight at times, but that doesn't make him an egoist—he was just a human being. Ray Manzarek even mentioned how disappointed he was with the characterization. They just showed us "Jimbo" (that nickname Manzarek used whenever Jim was getting wasted), but they failed to show us the real Jim... the good, witty, intelligent man...
I mean, that scene where he sets fire to the closet where Pamela is? Absolutely absurd...
The film isn't exactly realistic. They threw in a few dramatized scenes for effect, but some of them cross the line into pure disrespect toward one of the greatest legends in rock history, if not the absolute greatest.
Val Kilmer is alright, though his facial expressions when he's acting drunk are incredibly irritating. And yeah, someone wrote that Val sang everything himself—that's just not true. He probably handled some songs, but he definitely didn't do "Back Door Man" 100%
