Not massive?? 😕 I definitely don't see it that way... though if we're being honest, they're more than enough to separate the elite from the mediocre in F1...☕

rustystag7 said:Kudos to Maria Nelson2 for putting in the work, I guess, but honestly, claiming you can pull anything meaningful out of a slower car like this feels like someone trying to sell overpriced toys to toddlers.

.

I can't really get on board with that logic. You’ve got drivers who are absolute legends and others who just aren't there, so if we're going to draw lines based on what kind of car they're sitting in, then by your theory, Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet are basically cut from the same cloth. It completely ignores the way Alonso manages to drag a subpar car into the points or even onto the podium through sheer grit and smart driving. That isn't some mysterious "X factor" you can just wave away; it's the fundamental difference between the elite tier and everyone else—the ones who win when the car is fast, but still find a way to fight for trophies when the machinery is garbage.🤷

And honestly, yesterday was just a massive letdown☕

Maybe you're just looking at this through a different lens depending on your own skin color, so maybe the logic is flipped for you😉 😁

Just kidding, obviously...👍

stormybadger8 said:Look, whatever you want to believe, Lewis Hamilton basically treated that race like a personal masterclass, intentionally spinning out a couple of times just to show off, and then showing he had the sheer skill to wrestle that car back under control perfectly every single time, without ever getting stuck in the gravel or slamming into a wall—you really think that was some kind of accident?🤷

I honestly don't know what you expect from me. 🤷

It feels like no matter what the kid pulls off, you're just going to dismiss it as pure luck or some other nonsense, so I don't see much point in even trying to argue with you...
All I'm saying is that despite driving a total junker, he pushed way harder than most of the guys out there—definitely more than Felipe Massa did, which the results prove—and managed to scrape together some points. At the end of the day, if you look at the field, there are only a handful of drivers who can actually squeeze anything out of a slow car: Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Robert Kubica, Sebastian Vettel, and Kimi Räikkönen when he's actually feeling it.☕

Amanda Kelly As if I haven't heard this all before.
I've always felt the truth usually sits somewhere in that messy middle ground.

Lewis was driving exactly how you’d expect—purely Hamilton style. Fast, aggressive, and just constantly on the attack. As for that little stunt he pulled, I don't think it was about his actual skill behind the wheel, but more about his headspace at the moment; those kinds of moves are usually just a reflection of the chaos happening on the track. Honestly, he delivered exactly what I anticipated yesterday. It felt like he actually had a competitive car for once, which is a far cry from what some of the other drivers were struggling with. You could really see the progress compared to how things went down in Australia.
If you ask me, Lewis Hamilton still has the raw pace and the driving talent to hold his own. 👍.

That’s a pretty fair point you made there. 👍
It’s honestly getting pretty exhausting and repetitive to see everyone constantly tearing him down like this. People keep talking about "luck" as if they haven't been saying it for years now—it’s starting to feel a bit played out. Then again, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if it is getting old.🤷

So how do you explain Heikki Kovalainen finishing 5th while Lewis Hamilton ended up 6th, especially since I recall Kovalainen actually passing him once or twice on the track?☕

They brought those slower cars, Sutil and Buemi, right up to the edge of scoring points, they just didn't have the luck.☕ If Buemi hadn't slammed into Vettel, he probably would've finished ahead of Rubens, maybe even Button.

What overtakes are we even talking about, those moves from Kimi and Kovalainen—who was busy braking anyway, so much for prestige🤣 or did you see something else happen?😕

sorry Maria Nelson2, but honestly, no matter how much better Felipe Massa gets from one season to the next, Lewis Hamilton just seems to be sliding further downhill.

He snagged one lucky title against some pretty mediocre competition, and that’ll likely be the ceiling for his entire NASCAR career.☕

I think you get my point, regardless of how much you want to nitpick that race... the car was incredible... way more stable and had significantly more downforce than what Hamilton was struggling with yesterday...

I feel like you're talking way too much trash about Hamilton; look, if you don't like him, fine, that's your take, but it isn't objective, respect.👍 Just tell me where exactly Massa is getting better season after season?? Sure, the kid puts in the work and basically drives better than an unmotivated teammate, but saying he's getting "better and better" feels like a bit of a stretch...🤷

stormybadger8 said:I mean, props to everyone, but claiming Lewis Hamilton drove well is 🤣 when he was actually worse than Felipe Massa at Indianapolis Motor Speedway 🤔, which is the race everyone made fun of afterward😉

trivia question for you: how many laps did Heikki Kovalainen spend spinning that same car that had absolutely zero downforce☕
And all the fans love to shout about how Lewis Hamilton is miles ahead of Kovalainen☕

It’s that same old comparison again—comparing Massa in a top-tier car (yeah, I'm looking at you, Indianapolis Motor Speedway) to Hamilton in a car that basically had no grip at all...😉

So, comparing Kovalainen to Hamilton... honestly, credit to Kovalainen just for dragging that thing across the finish line, but seeing as he was getting similar results back in the MP4/23 days, I'd say it doesn't really matter what you put him in, he's always going to be hovering around 5th place😁.
Hamilton drove aggressively, way more intense than Heikki Kovalainen, and factoring in the tire grip... you get those flashy moves and the whole show🤣... By the way, I'm not saying his driving was anything short of spectacular, I'm just saying he managed to scrape points out of a slow car under impossible conditions with a few really impressive overtakes🤷...

stormybadger8 said:Look, if anyone here hates Ferrari and thinks Massa is the absolute worst driver on the grid, well, that's me.

Personally, I don't think he even belongs in an F1 seat.
In my book, Ferrari is just a sloppy, dishonest outfit.

But honestly, hearing people claim Hamilton drove better than Massa yesterday is just plain idiotic. Hamilton was only better than Piquet and Trulli yesterday. ☕

Even Nakajima outclassed Hamilton; getting any points at all was nothing more than pure luck, and that’s the truth. You're supposed to be able to control the car when you spin out, but clearly, nobody knows how to handle a car, otherwise they wouldn't be sliding off the track. ☕ ☕

Kovalainen is consistently much slower than Hamilton, yet he fought to slow him down and still managed to finish ahead of him. 🤣 What bigger proof could you ask for? 🤣

Alright man, but I think you're blowing things way out of proportion. 🤣 🤣

Hamilton's drive yesterday was basically a circus act. 😁 But the kid was in a car suffering from a chronic lack of downforce, and somehow, in the rain, he finished and grabbed points. And that's even considering his aggressive style and how much he punishes those tires.
Comparing him to Massa is just ridiculous. What Massa did with a car that arguably had the best grip on the track compared to the MP4/24 is absurd. It's always the same old story about "luck this" and "luck that"... give me some originality for once. 👍

Anyway, congrats on Vettel's win and the Red Bull Racing 1-2. 👍

I've had enough of this rain; I used to pray for it back in the day, but now it just makes me feel sick. 😬

Hmm... when was the last time Webber actually stood on a podium?

2007 at the Nürburgring... if my memory isn't failing me... ☕

man, I’m speechless... though that race was actually decent🤷

but whatever, who cares😬

come on, let's go SUPER AGURI!!! 🙏 🙏

Buddy, you're about a year off on your facts😉 👍

Man, imagine how different things would be at McLaren if they still had Alex Wurz acting as their test driver🤣

Say, if they had that Brawn KERS system🤣🤣

Kudos to Sebastian Vettel and the Red Bull crew for pulling an all-nighter to sort out that axle issue 🙏🙏
McLaren 🙏🙏 just keeps getting faster by the day... though watching Lewis Hamilton spin out 🤣 and overtake 🙏 🙏 is enough to give anyone a headache, and honestly, even Heikki Kovalainen showed a bit of life today 🙏
Fernando Alonso 🙏

All things considered, it was a decent race.....

Jonathan Booth5 said:They aren't going to admit anything to you, so you might as well just view it the same way as when Alonso talked about those trade secrets. 🤣

Yeah, right... I remember sitting through those press conferences where they'd get asked about Kers or the diffusers and the response was basically, "I think you're asking for too much, as usual." 🤣🤣
China Trip - Shanghai (April 19, 2009) in Formula 1 ·
Jonathan Booth5 said:They were struggling with axle issues during free practice. They managed to patch things up just in time for qualifying, but they noticed the defect was cropping up again—mostly with Sebastian Vettel and, to a lesser extent, Mark Webber. That’s why Vettel only squeezed in those two fast laps. Honestly, it's the same old story whenever Adrian Newey is involved. He either builds an ultra-fast car that's so fragile it lives on the razor's edge of total failure, or he builds a complete lemon like the MP 4-18, which was such a disaster that Ron Dennis basically had to commission a whole new car halfway through 2004 just to win a bet that they'd actually grab a win that season.
In a few years, I expect we'll either see Newey's America's Cup boats absolutely crushing the competition by two full days, or we'll be reading news reports about forty crew members vanishing somewhere out at sea near the Cape of Good Hope.

Look, I know the whole deal with Newey; I've been following F1 for a long time now.👍

I was just wondering if you knew the "exact" technical details regarding what's going wrong with that axle...
China Trip - Shanghai (April 19, 2009) in Formula 1 ·
Jonathan Booth5 As if I haven't heard this all before, honestly.
Both Red Bulls are struggling with drive shaft issues right now, if you catch my drift.
I’ve had just about enough of Newey and these fragile little glass cars they call race machines. 🤮

What kind of trouble are we talking about? I was scrolling through some F1 live updates and caught Sebastian Vettel mentioning that they only ran a handful of laps during qualifying because the teams were terrified the cars wouldn't actually survive the session.🤷
I'm just sitting here wondering what the hell is actually going on...

Morgan Murphy7 said:And Piquet is back at his usual sluggish self, clocked in at a measly 697.9😁

That’s just how Renault plays the game.

Piquet is basically acting as a fuel tanker circling the track, just waiting for an Alonso to latch onto him during a long stint without a pit stop so they can top up on the fly.🙏

Now that would be a hell of a sight🤣 🤣 , you should probably send that little suggestion over to the FIA , since having a teammate serve as a mobile refueling station sounds like a brilliant plan......🤣 🤣
