So now you're aiming for 1.8... and almost there on the love aspect too... though using an external RAID isn't exactly efficient, unless you're playing James Bond!
But if you aren't using mirroring mode, what’s even the point?🤷 Mirroring everything with a direct double backup to OneDrive, the cloud, and all that other internet nonsense...🥳
I haven't had a chance to dig into the specs yet, but does this support mirroring? Also, what’s the actual difference between getting a single drive included in the package versus having two HDDs set up in a mirror configuration?
You could honestly use pretty much anything, even some kind of solvent, on the heat spreader...
My own little trick before cleaning is to run an OCCT stress test or just play a game for a bit; it’s much easier to get that old paste off when everything is nice and warm!
It looks like we might finally be seeing *The Last of Us* get the big-screen treatment, much like how *Uncharted* made the jump to cinema.
They used to be just like Resident Evil, Hitman, Max Payne, or Lara Croft...
So, what's next on the horizon?
Duke Nukem?? It’s a shame this wasn't adapted back when Dolph Lundgren was still in his prime. He would have been the perfect choice for that role.
Maybe Metal Gear Solid belongs on this list too. It’s a series with one of the most moving stories out there—there's so much dialogue that you could practically hand-pick only the best lines to build an entire screenplay.
You can forget about that. Your only real way out is to swap everything out every two to two and a half years. You have to look at it strictly in terms of how much you're paying per frame. Ideally, you want those top five games to hit at least 30 FPS—45 is the sweet spot—at 1080p with maxed-out settings. Because what good is an R9 270 with great value if it fails to meet that second requirement?
Right now, the sweet spot is something like an r9 290 or a GTX 970. They'll stay at the top of the curve for maybe another 18 months. At that point, you sell them while they still hold some resale value, then either trade up for something new or grab a used card that’s 20-30% cheaper than retail.
Over a ten-year period, you'll actually end up spending less and enjoying much more stable frame rates than if you tried to sink all your money into high-end flagship cards.
The GTX 970 actually performs on par with the R9 390 in quite a few titles, and honestly, NVIDIA cards just handle those art and hair effects—like you see in The Witcher or Batman—much more smoothly than anything else.
Nice, how much did you end up paying for it? Also, give me the lowdown on that Octane combo. What’s the verdict on the mouse—how is the lighting, the typing feel, and the noise levels?
So, we have some fresh components here! Though, honestly, who knows where he actually picked these up? The keyboard isn't even a domestic model, and I’d bet my money that the peripherals are at least five months old—which is plenty of time for the price to be dropped by about 30% compared to buying everything brand new from Best Buy. Still, it’s a pretty solid deal when you look at what else is popping up on eBay! It would definitely be a smart move for someone looking for an upgrade, or even if they're planning on flipping it later for a profit. 🕺
👍 According to the TechPowerUp review, this thing actually runs 11°C cooler than the Noctua NH-D14. 🐔 Here is a decent, budget-friendly full build spec
