It felt like history repeating itself right after that whole Webber-Hamilton mess... when Kubica was absolutely flying on those fresh tires, leaving everyone in his dust. He ended up caught in that exact same corner, facing the same dilemma Hamilton did. I can't quite recall who he was overtaking at that moment, but the guy just squeezed him out. It was identical—Kubica had half his car alongside him, just like Hamilton had half his car ahead of Webber. Look, I’m not usually one to call for penalties, but I honestly think if anyone else had pulled that move, they would've been penalized for sure.

If that Webber-Hamilton incident hadn't happened, I guess old man would've been penalized too... they wouldn't have been allowed to pull that after how they handled the decision to penalize Mark Webber 😁

They can take a win and then completely blow it because they're too hot-blooded. That kind of fire has been missing from Formula 1 since the days of Juan Pablo Montoya. Though, I guess I hope he doesn't end up stuck at Montoya's level... (again, disclaimer: I actually loved Juan Pablo Montoya and used to root for him against all those bland, boring drivers who took over the sport...)

Man, don't just compare him to Juan Pablo Montoya... he's nothing like him!! He's way more talented. 😁

Chances he actually moves over? Maybe 0.01%.
Chances he slows down enough for you to just cruise past him? Like, 0.001% max.
Chances he burns through his rubber and has to pit, or spins out, or takes both himself and whoever is trying to pass him out of the race? Probably closer to 30-50%.

Honestly, you might as well just let him go and hope he takes the Jackpot with him by wrecking himself and whoever he can't catch.🤣

Exactly... everything you listed in percentages is spot on. That's how Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher acted—exactly how Hamilton acts now. Because they went off track or messed up races back then, they ended up with this reputation, and it's the same way drivers look at them today like you do. They crossed that line where weaker drivers—you know, the guys who think they're crazy but shouldn't take risks—subconsciously ease off the gas because of respect. They don't push as hard as they could! You see that kind of respect for Schumacher even now... people see him coming and think, "Watch out," which is enough mental pressure to make someone hesitate. That's something every top-tier driver should aim for. Long term, it's better to lose a race if it means showing everyone else that you always, always go for it. Just look at what Schumacher would do; even when he wasn't performing great and things looked grim, he’d still take the risk. And if he went off, people would say, "Man, if he hadn't crashed, it would have been this or that," while all the while he was building this authority as someone who fears nothing. On the flip side, if he didn't crash, it was a legendary overtake that people remember forever...

Even Schumi was in a worse spot than Vettel, in my opinion, but he still went for it. So what now? Is he just stupid because he almost wrecked everything?
And then there's Vettel, who's supposedly "smart" because he backed off... and lost his spot.
He's also smart because three or four laps before the end, he's driving like a maniac without brakes, risking running wide when there's nothing left to gain or lose... since Schumi is like 20 seconds behind him anyway.
Honestly, you just have to know when to take the risk... otherwise, I don't know, what's even the point of racing?

Exactly... a real driver has that instinct for the right moment and a gut feeling for how their opponent will react to a risky move...

Way to go Mark Webber, way to go Alonso, way to go Schumacher 🙂 Such a bummer for Hamilton...

When a driver is leaving the pits, they just need to move and make sure they don't stall the engine. Checking left, signaling, letting pedestrians cross... I don't know, that's basically the lollipop man's job. If they didn't penalize Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel for that intentional parallel driving through the pits and shoving, then I don't see why they'd penalize Fernando Alonso for moving when there's literally a non-driver responsible for watching the situation and releasing them in time. 🤷

The guy who released him is at fault, but I'm telling you, this isn't an isolated incident, and I've seen smarter people stop in those exact situations!! It's also pretty obvious Alonso was playing dumb just to get out onto a cleaner line... I'm not saying he should be penalized either, but I'm insisting that officials can look at it and react. People are totally overreacting with all this talk about exit speeds and how you "can't look" while driving. ☕

Glancing left definitely isn't checking a blind spot, and honestly, just looking left would have been enough to see someone coming!!! Exiting a garage is anything but flooring it... while turning, his rear end would've ended up right in the barrier.... Even though we're talking about Formula 1, let's not overreact; he wasn't pinned to the floor exiting the garage. ☕

I guess RB might actually have an edge in Monaco since that track is all about massive downforce, and from what we've seen, they seem to be leading the pack in that department.
