Let’s stay on topic.
If you aggregate the fastest sectors achieved by each driver, Fernando Alonso clocked a 1:13.892.
Essentially, he possessed the raw pace necessary to dip below the 1:14 mark... it was simply a matter of failing to string those segments together into a single cohesive lap.
In contrast, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel managed to nail their absolute best sector times—all three segments—during the exact same lap that secured them pole position.
When one looks at the data objectively, it appears Fernando was actually two-tenths faster than Lewis Hamilton.

I am utterly fed up with all this debate over what is considered "legal" versus "illegal" within Red Bull Racing, only to have Sebastian Vettel walk away with the win anyway. 🤦

To be perfectly honest, Blažičko has left me feeling quite disappointed; it offers nothing but a false sense of optimism regarding Fernando Alonso's prospects. 🤣

Sebastian Vettel absolutely killed it.🙏

Sebastian Vettel managed to break the 1:14:000 barrier in a single stroke, yet during Free Practice, the gap was a mere thousandth of a second. How does such a marginal difference in practice translate into such a definitive leap in performance?

I’ll be busy watching the game tomorrow during UEFA Euro 2012; I have absolutely no interest in sitting through more of Bernie Ecclestone's nonsense, the predictable dominance of Red Bull Racing, or the blatant favoritism shown toward Sebastian Vettel. 🤣

Blažičko is shouting at the top of his lungs, "Alonso flying!" and suddenly, right there on the home stretch, he’s ahead by 0.3 seconds. 🤷

What exactly does one mean by "flying the track"? 😕

I am fully expecting to see Alonso standing on that podium, though I must admit I found Massa’s performance during the Second Qualifying Session somewhat underwhelming; I had quite sincerely anticipated a top five finish from him.

The Williams rear wing designed specifically for high-speed tracks.
Naturally, this should grant them an advantage of at least half a second per lap over the rest of the field, and I anticipate seeing a gain of one to two seconds during qualifying.
As for the race itself, however, I am far less optimistic.

What kind of rear spoiler manages to yield roughly 0.5 seconds?

For teams fighting in such a tight mid-field pack, that is actually a brilliant solution—perhaps even more effective than Brown's implementation of the DDRS at Mercedes. 🤣
Drew Bennett68 said:So, it appears that Alonso and Ferrari have finally conceded.😳

It seems entirely plausible. ☕

Is it really acceptable that we have such a meager amount of commentary prior to the race? Has the majority of this community truly migrated over to the UEFA Euro 2012 thread already? 🤣

Is it not incredibly frustrating when the Creator Group decides to pull the plug on broadcasting free practice sessions? Why should we be deprived of the opportunity to listen to the technical expertise and that steady, reliable commentary provided by our favorite expert, Sep? It feels like a blatant disregard for those of us who actually want to dive deep into the technical nuances of the sport. 🤣

At any rate, I fully expect Fernando Alonso to maintain his grip on the top spot in the drivers' championship.
Jason Campbell70 said:Judging by the comments coming out of Pat Fry, Ferrari is heading to the USA with a brand new front and rear wing—which makes sense given the track layout—along with several exhaust variations. It looks like the FP sessions will be quite a mixed bag in terms of the F2012 aero package upgrades.

Yet, curiously, no one has brought up the DDRS. Even if they were to implement the DDRS, it would necessitate modifications to the monocoque, which in turn requires new crash tests. If Ferrari had actually conducted any crash testing, wouldn't that news have leaked to the press already?

Essentially, certain posters here are peddling nonsense that isn't even worth a response.

In short, there is nothing happening with the DDRS; there would need to be an entire regulatory process where the FIA declares everything legal before giving the green light.

Furthermore, one shouldn't hold their breath expecting these upgrades to bring them anywhere near the leaders.

Ferrari is currently struggling with qualifying pace, and I sincerely hope they have addressed it; I have no desire to sacrifice my football time only to waste my free hours on Formula 1.
"It appears that Ferrari is poised to introduce a significant upgrade package at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Rumors are swirling regarding modifications to the front and rear wings, as well as the exhaust system, though it is highly probable that several other minor refinements will be integrated into the car as well.
I am sincerely hoping that Ferrari utilizes the USA DDRS; I am convinced that having access to the USA DDRS would yield a minimum improvement of 0-2-0.3s per lap during qualifying, which would make them a genuine threat to Mercedes-Benz. If Ferrari manages to execute these updates successfully in the US and benefits from the DDRS, should we not expect them to be fighting tooth and nail for both pole position and the race victory at Indianapolis?

?

Seriously @darkmarlin16, why don't you just start your own thread 🤣?

Heading into this Grand Prix, my expectation is to see both Ferrari drivers standing on the podium.

Ferrari is bringing an upgrade to the USA Grand Prix, though I have read rumors suggesting they might also have a DDRS similar to what Mercedes-Benz uses.???

Now, I cannot state this as an absolute fact, as I haven't been able to verify this specific information with total certainty.

Word on the street is that this DDRS could grant Ferrari a gain of 0.2 to 0.3 seconds per lap. In a season where the field is so incredibly tight, such an innovation is significant; it could potentially propel the team toward greatness and allow them to rack up a massive amount of points.

It’s marked down to $53 at Best Buy $767

Is there any guarantee that my current power supply unit can actually handle this card without burning itself out? Specifically, does this particular GPU demand a massive amount of wattage just to function properly?

.

So, the graphics card I’m actually eyeing isn't exactly top-tier, yet my buddies keep insisting it's the best you can get for $667!
I mean, really—what was I thinking? I saw those dual cooling fans and assumed it was some kind of "god-tier" GPU for $667! 😁

Greetings, I am a newcomer to this community! 😁

I am looking to treat myself to a new graphics card; PCI-E Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6870, 1GB DDR5, HDMI, Dual DVI, 2xDP and I am prepared to shell out up to $667! Since I am based in Pittsburgh, my only real option is "Links" which is currently the premier retailer in the city and the surrounding region!

My current system configuration:

Power Supply: - Corsair CX600
Motherboard: - P8H61/USB3
Processor: - Intel Core i5-2320 (LGA1155)
RAM: CORSAIR 8GB 1600

I have attached an image of the specific graphics card I am eyeing, so I would be interested to hear your expert opinions on its performance. My current card, an EN9800GT 1G GDDR3, simply can no longer keep up with modern demands and is in desperate need of a worthy successor! 😉

Is a Windows 7 boot time of 37 seconds considered acceptable, or is there reason to be concerned? 😕
Keep in mind, I am running on a standard mechanical hard drive, not an SSD.

Matthew Young35 said:I certainly hope you didn't go ahead and kill the processor itself. 😁

When you initiate a shutdown on a computer, all active processes are terminated.

Therefore, one must ask: is there truly any functional difference between manually killing a specific process before shutting down the machine, versus simply triggering the shutdown command—which will inevitably purge all running processes regardless? Is it anything more than a trivial distinction in the sequence of events?

Furthermore, wouldn't that particular process likely just trigger itself to restart the moment you boot the system back up?

You are mistaken. I simply utilized "End Task" and the issue was resolved instantly!
The usage dropped from 25% all the way down to 0%!
At least, that is how it functioned on my machine.

Matthew Young35 said:Ultimately, you have achieved absolutely nothing with those actions. In truth, isn't the result exactly the same as if you had simply performed a standard restart?
🤷

No, I actually terminated that specific processor process—those drivers were sitting there in an idle state, hogging twenty-five percent of my Intel i7's resources! 😉

I simply performed a right-click on "End Process," and just like that, the issue was resolved.

It has finally reached a 0% idle state, which is exactly how the system ought to function.

If he verifies that the issue isn't stemming from faulty drivers—which, let's be honest, are already consuming a significant portion of his storage capacity—then we are looking at a much more fundamental problem.

If one were to terminate the primary core process, wouldn't the entire system inevitably collapse under its own weight?

it is just a home PC

Try hitting ctrl+shift+esc, navigate to the Resource Monitor, select CPU, and under the CPU sub-section, you will be able to identify exactly what is bottlenecking your machine!

In my own experience, I found my usage sitting at 25% even while the system was idling; however, once I actually delved into the Resource Monitor, I realized that the audio drivers were the primary culprit behind the lag!

If it turns out to be a driver issue, simply right-click the offending process, select "End Process," and then perform a full restart of your PC!

coastaltinker24 said:Which software should I pick up to maintain Windows 7?

There is, without question, only one definitive choice for such a task, and that would be Windows 7 Manager.

Quite simply, once you have this specific tool on that machine, is there really any need for anything else? 😁

coastaltinker24 As Benjamin King2 states:
I’ve taken a look at my settings and disabled several background programs, which seems to have improved the situation slightly. However, I find myself wondering: what is the actual impact of running these system upgrades? I have managed to install a few basic updates, but I haven't touched most of them yet—including Service Pack 1. Is it possible that by pushing through all these updates, I might inadvertently cause the system to slow down even further?🤷

It took roughly two minutes to boot up before, but after I decided to strip Avast Internet Security from the system, the startup time dropped down to just 65 seconds. Is it really necessary to let an antivirus drag your performance through the mud like that?

Before I performed the system upgrade, the boot process was taking roughly 40 seconds. Consequently, when I decide to perform a clean installation next time—specifically a fresh install of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate—I expect that the upgrade overhead will be eliminated entirely.

One more thing—it isn't a matter of insufficient RAM, as I am running 8 GB of DDR3.

All you need to do is install the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 manual installer because the software is demanding it as a prerequisite, and once that's done, the matter is settled.

Is it just me, or does Windows Update seem to exist solely to devour every available gigabyte within the system partition?

Joshua Ramos14 said:To sounds like a GPU issue, if I’m being honest. Try plugging that graphics card into another machine and let me know if you run into the same trouble there.

Is this an issue specific to my setup, or is someone else dealing with this too?

I went ahead and cleared that log, and now Windows 7 has gone ahead and disabled all my services automatically; I have no sound, no internet access in my browser—nothing.

I spent quite a bit of time struggling to revert everything back to how it was, yet here I am, facing the exact same problem again. 🤷

Benjamin King2 said:Duplicate events tend to start cropping up once the log files exceed a certain threshold; try clearing out all the logs in the Event Viewer and then observe what populates them after you perform a system restart.

But how exactly am I supposed to clear them?
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
It isn't an issue with my network controller, as I actually stumbled upon this specific notification while digging through the Event Viewer;

The EventSystem sub system is suppressing duplicate event log entries for a duration of 86400 seconds. The suppression timeout can be controlled by a REG_DWORD value named SuppressDuplicateDuration under the following registry key: HKLM \ software

Does anyone have any insight into what might be causing this particular problem? 🤷
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
I find myself quite perplexed as to why the network icon continues to load for a full twenty seconds after all the other desktop icons have already appeared. 😕
