Mulholland Drive and everything else by Angelo Badalamenti🙏 🙏 👍
Art or Porn? Quiz! in Movies ·
You scored 7 out of 10
There are really only two ways you could've pulled that off. Either you’re a true student of cinematic Art, spotting those legendary film milestones—or you've got a massive collection of vintage Porn stashed away somewhere.

What I'm actually curious about, though—does anyone happen to know the titles of those vintage Porn clips shown in the pictures?🥳

What's the connection here? 😬 😬 😬 😬 😬 😬
Sunset Boulevard deserves all the credit because the movie itself is just brilliant—the atmosphere is totally unmatched. Honestly, it should probably take the title for being the most powerful 😕 😕 😕 maker in cinematic history🙏 🙏
milk said:The concept works—but won't it just end up being a list of things everyone already knows? Things are pretty clearly defined in this regard... :-)

Well then, why don't you give us that list? 🙂

😬
The Dude said:Anyone want to throw in a few more movies from the early eras up to 1940 before we jump into the 1941–1950 stretch? 😛

Honestly, this is a much better way to handle it—if everyone just starts tossing titles in randomly, things are going to get messy fast. It’s probably easiest if we stick to grouping them by decade.👍

I also think we should make a distinction between fine art and craftsmanship.☕

Yeah. Plenty.👎

and I don't think anyone else has mentioned them yet—all those Cameron Crowe soundtracks 🙂

we're talking about the scores here 🙂

slyrider16 said:So far, we've got:

A Trip to the Moon (1902)
The Birth of a Nation (1915)
Battleship Potemkin (1925)
Sunrise (1926)
M (1931)
Triumph of the Will (1935)

We're missing Fritz Lang

Errm, didn't you just mention M? 🤔

Maybe it'd be easier to just organize this by director—you know, look through the whole Fritz Lang filmography and call it a day? 🙂
So, getting ready for the Academy. Honestly, great idea. I could really use some😈

Ethan Perez97 said:Exactly—those monsters head out at night to hunt, kill an animal, and drag it back into the cave to eat. That’s where you find the bones.

Right, and besides that cave, it gives them a sense of security.

Btw, major dilemma: what's the actual distinction here—is it a cave, a cavern, or something else entirely?🤔

paranoid said:How is someone supposed to mutate in a place where there’s zero food available?

True, the logic is a bit shaky—but not enough to ruin the movie's incredible atmosphere.👍

Personally, I’m leaning toward the idea that these monsters are very real and they eat just about anything—from animals that stumble into the pit, to local wildlife and plants that call it home, down to the explorers who fall in and never make it back to the surface.😈

That whole theory that it's all just some collective hallucination feels a little too 🤮—plus, it's a trope that gets overused, and usually badly. Honestly, movies where everything turns out to be a product of the protagonist's fractured psyche irritate me; most of them rely entirely on that twist just to function, which feels 👎

Besides, they did stumble upon a massive pile of bones, didn't they?😕
Ethan Perez97 said:Not exactly worse than my own descriptions, 😁 👋 👋

Honestly, I probably need to brush up on some film school jargon so I can actually talk about characterization, narrative structure, and all that other nonsense 😬

p.s. Looks like I've got a few levels to climb to reach your level. What can I say? Just a naive kid 🥳
Ethan Perez97 said:I still remember how you guys totally ruined The Village for me on this forum—honestly, it’s probably best to just stay away from threads until you've actually sat through the movie.🙂

The Descent

Personally, I thought The Village was dark—one of those rare cases where a surprise twist actually lands perfectly.🙏

Is horror just... this?

I guess I have to watch it.
😁

You left a pretty bad description of this on my blog—check your DMs.😬
Ethan Perez97 said:Personally, I thought Wrong Turn was actually better than most of those recent big-budget horror flicks.

😲 😲

In the last few years, the scene in Frailty where we see Powers Boothe kill his mother is probably what creeped me out the most. 😱 It’s a prejeben movie—but honestly, it isn't strictly a horror film, so I can't really list it here as one of the best horrors from recent years. 😛
