Something like Oldboy? in Movies ·
Jeffrey Sanchez7 said:Movies are just getting shallower by the day—audiences are getting dumber, so studios have to lean into it just to turn a profit, right? How else are they going to sell them?

Well, thank Bog you're here—the absolute intellectual elite of the world! God, I can't stand this kind of snobbish rant.🙂

The Butterfly Effect????🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

I'm with you on The Game—definitely Fincher's best work.😍
I was just browsing Broadway web and noticed they have Murderball listed as Smrtolopt🙂

Since Steven Spielberg has become such a massive name in the meantime, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a wide release here in the States too.
(It's been out on VHS for ages—already came and went.)

Man, look at this—it looks so good (I really need to show someone):

Yeah, I watched The Frighteners on VHS a long time ago, too.

As for the other guy—if you judged a movie solely by its poster, this might just crack the top films of the year. It's a great little poster. Reminds me of those hand-painted ones you see outside the local college campus.

p.s. — should it be "kicks ass" (referring to the movie) or "kick ass" (referring to actual heavenly creatures)?😬

If you go with "kicks ass," you really ought to put "Heavenly Creatures" in quotes—otherwise, it looks like a typo where you're talking about literal creatures from heaven rather than the film.

The Frighteners is actually coming out on DVD right about now.
It's the extended cut, obviously.

Should I grab it at Target or just find it online?

Heavenly Creatures is an absolute masterpiece. There—I said it.

p.s. — is "masterpiece" one word or two?😬

Yeah, Ethan Perez97, I saw you were hunting for the Suspiria soundtrack on your blog—you can find it on eMule, I’m actually listening to it right now.

What are you actually doing in Chicago?😲

Ethan Perez97 said:I've got The Frighteners on my couch too—is it actually worth watching?

It's a good movie—just don't expect it to hit quite like Bad Taste. It's definitely more conventional compared to his earlier stuff, but I'd say keep an open mind. 👍

@Richard Hernandez13 — poor mods, honestly. You name the whole thread after the one movie that barely even came up in the discussion.

Why on earth is this thread linked under Heavenly Creatures on the list? I'm honestly kind of craving a rewatch of that one lately.😢

Anyway, just to jump in here—I actually think Bad Taste is way better than Braindead.

Honestly, just do a quick search online—once you spot one of those massive "Download 15,000 Smileys" banners, just go for it. It’s definitely worth the click!

Honestly, it’s always bothered me how people assume playing a villain is harder than playing the hero. For me, it's actually the complete opposite. A villain has so much room to move—you basically have to be a total amateur to mess up a bad guy role. Think along the lines of Val Kilmer, for example. On the flip side, the "good guy" has such a narrow lane to run in. They can't just cheat on everyone and call it a day, and they can't go around making wild, bulging-eyed faces—looking at you, Al Pacino🤮—so they really have to work twice as hard to outshine the antagonist. That's why I started this thread—to give some credit to the ones who usually get overlooked.😁

Don't you know Mike Patton?

Man, this whole "Director's cut" thing totally threw me off—I went down the completely wrong mental rabbit hole.

True, but let's be real—if it weren't for the Goldsmiths score, this movie would have been forgotten by now🙏 🙏 👍
