I'm still a little annoyed about the threads being merged 😠. If they were going to combine them anyway, they should have at least removed Harryhausen from the title—now my thread feels totally stripped down 👎
Larry Martin11 said:EDIT: forgot Jane Campion I’m no expert when it comes to her filmography—I think I’ve only seen maybe two of her features and a couple of shorts—but even with my limited film knowledge, I feel like she definitely earned her spot in this conversation. 😁
I have a feeling she’s a one-hit wonder—Piano is absolutely fantastic, but the rest? Kind of meh. 🙂
I just remembered watching Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold and King Solomon's Mines 🙂 while chatting on another thread—man, I had such a blast with those movies. It made me want to start a dedicated thread for adventure films. What are your all-time favorites? It feels like true adventure flicks are pretty much extinct these days 😢 Maybe we'll get a new Indiana Jones soon, but real adventure cinema? Doesn't seem to exist anymore.
What the hell? Why are you guys tripping? Paul Anderson directed Soldier and Event Horizon—as far as I'm concerned, those two movies alone make up for any other bad stuff he’s ever done or will ever do.
It’s pretty wild how many cool topics you can stumble upon in the '!!BEST TOPICS ON THE MOVIE SUBFORUM!! ( Last update: 10.05.2006. )' thread—I bet crimsonmoose3 would find this interesting 🙏
Ahem, so, let's talk about women breaking into traditionally male-dominated fields 🎉 Who are your favorite female directors? Do you even have any favorites in mind?
I'm a huge fan of Kathryn Bigelow—she gave us Strange Day, which I think everyone should see 🙏🙏🙏, plus Near Dark, hands down one of the most intense vampire horror films ever made.
Come on, weigh in here—don't let this thread die out 😬
