Speaking of which, back when this was still fresh in my mind—right after I finished the movie—I did exactly what I did with those street names (remember my rant above about how pointless it is to obsess over street names in NYC?)... I started Googling the doctor. And nope, there wasn't any psychiatrist in Washington, D.C. with that name. (If anyone has the movie on some streaming service, feel free to look up the doctor's name, then we can all go down the rabbit hole again).

And honestly? It just felt kind of... meh to me.

Like I already said, none of those options work for me. Literally zero—there are four of them, and I was super clear about why not a single one fits the vibe in the car during that final scene.

EDIT no. 2: There is actually a fifth option, but it would require me to go watch the movie all over again, which I am definitely not doing... unless the final scene actually takes place BEFORE everything else happens. That would explain her nose, but honestly, I'm not heading back to the AMC Theatres just for one last minute. Maybe I can find a rip on a torrent site to confirm 😬

That final scene absolutely wrecked me. Like, totally destroyed. Those three of them—we don't see the sister—just sitting there in her uncle's car, driving... I mean, did he kill her? Did he not? Why do they all look so completely blank? And it’s not just because they’re American actors 😬 who can be a bit wooden sometimes—it's that they aren't giving us even a hint about how this ends. If he killed her, then WTF? If he didn't, why isn't she with them while they're just acting happy? If they still have no clue where she is, why aren't they panicking or rushing around trying to find her? If the mother did it, why isn't she at least a little shaken up? If he just straight-up stopped giving a damn about everything, why don't they at least look relieved to be free from the stress? What kind of ending is that? I seriously hate movies that force a cliffhanger just for the sake of it, without any actual purpose. We could have had a decent resolution, or honestly, we could've just ended with some random scene of a cat eating turkey on Christmas, and we could have interpreted the connection between the cat and the sister however we wanted. Dammit.

So, we sat there waiting for the doctor for five minutes, then hung out in the office for a bit longer after—just to find out he’s totally insensitive and apparently it’s not "polite" to question a prescribed treatment plan. Honestly, I don't see the point. Those three have enough crazy chemistry on their own—I much preferred that scene where they all pile into a car to head down to Miami, the brother loses control, and realizes they're hiding scissors from him. Or even when they show up at his place and just send him to bed... I found myself just waiting for the sound of glass shattering at any moment. A grumpy nurse or a cop can be a decent addition to a scene without stalling the plot, but this whole thing with the Austrian doctor felt pretty pointless to me.
That scene with the totally checked-out officer at the Miami station when they go to report a theft was gold—it had this bitter, comedic edge to it. You could really feel that classic bureaucratic attitude: "this is just how things work, hang in there, I'm just doing my job." 😁

Personally, I think he was just trying to capture that feeling of hitting a wall with rude, insensitive staff—you know how it is when you're already down. He wasn't trying to paint them as saints, but since he didn't explicitly say he's suing the hospital, I wouldn't take it too seriously, tbh.
The whole thing with wiping away the blood would feel pretty pointless unless we later got some twisted, touching moment where the brother admits he did it to protect him—even if it actually just landed him in a mess. 😵

The movie explicitly states that the brother's apartment is on Cres Street—at least three times—and that the "hospital" where the ambulance takes him is on Rendić Street (if I recall correctly, they mention that at least twice).

It wasn't filmed there, obviously—not even close to Cres or Rendić—but honestly, it doesn't even matter. They could have filmed it on Mars for all I care, but just having those two streets mentioned so many times really triggered that exact reaction for me...

Though, yeah, I totally believe you when you say most people wouldn't even notice that 😬

One thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was this one—totally unnecessary—little detail: mentioning that Cres is where his brother lives, and then throwing in Rendić's hospital being "right nearby."

I mean, what was the point? Seriously, why? What did they actually gain from that transparent, pointless, pathetic little lie? Aside from the fact that the ten of us were sitting in the theater yesterday just gossiping about it? Do you really want to force people from New York City—which is basically a quarter of your potential audience—to spend their time nitpicking the geography instead of actually feeling for the family?

Once I caught onto that—as dumb as that detail was—I just couldn't take the director seriously anymore, and it made all that mediocre acting stand out even more...

I’m honestly dying to know—what kind of actual rights are tied to which neighborhood here in the States? Like, is there some specific law that says you lose certain rights just based on which district you happen to live in?

But there are other "contrasts" available for them, right? It's not like we're stuck exclusively with radioactive glucose—if one of those organs where glucose doesn't show up clearly enough needs looking at, aren't there other radiotracers out there? (I'm googling it right now and seeing they're used incredibly rarely in actual clinical settings 😢 Damn. My bad. Not exactly groundbreaking advice from me, unless maybe the point is just to suggest finding a doctor who’s actually interested in digging deeper into this stuff)

Honestly, I’d pay out of my own pocket for a PET/CT just to get some peace of mind—to know, as much as one can ever truly know, that there aren't any metastases.

And I’ve been trying to track down a second opinion, even though I know finding a doctor who actually gives a damn and knows their stuff is an absolute nightmare here in the US...

Why do you even care about this? Isn't this kind of thing more of a concern for your employer—the people actually footing the bill and paying your salary?

In America, masks are pretty much gone everywhere except for hospitals and social service centers. Even the transit authorities don't have any grounds to push it anymore—you won't see anyone wearing them on the bus or subway...

Even after more than two years, they still manage to shock me with how much they just don't care—or how incompetent they can be. Such an important piece of info, man, and it totally flew under the radar for anyone actually paying attention, mostly because they didn't bother to confirm 😠

Like, we’re talking roughly $150 here—now that you’re seeing the results, and more importantly, feeling them internally... you know, in terms of your confidence and just how you carry yourself when you're walking down the street... would you say it paid off?

Or, let’s look past the price tag for a second. When you really step back and look at the big picture, did the whole process actually deliver what you were looking for? And I don't mean specifically regarding the hairline, let's be real, I'm not asking about that 😉 )
