Got the DayQuil, picked up some calcium, and grabbed the nasal spray.
hollowraven, look, your doctor isn't entirely wrong... I won't go into all the specifics right now—unless you really want to dive into that, then we can just chat in DMs—but the bottom line is that vaccines don't mess with my stomach, but these pills definitely do 😉
Brandon Thomas89, that’s not funny. Not even a little bit... 😢 😢
NyQuil sounds like a solid plan, though. I just need to double-check the difference between that and DayQuil—I know one has caffeine and the other doesn't, right?
Brandon Thomas89 said:Just take some 50 mg Voltaren forte about two hours before your lecture. Or honestly, even better—get the extended-release version.
It'll bring that fever down and kill the inflammation, so you'll feel pretty decent for a bit...
The catch is that once those eight hours are up, you're gonna feel absolutely wiped out. 👍
No thanks on the Voltaren🙄 The GI side effects are brutal. I mean, seriously—I’d be doubled over on the floor from stomach pains.
(btw, can you even tell how much effort I had to put into coming up with this title 😁 😁 😁? ) So, here's the deal: I've come down with strep, a sore throat, an earache—honestly, it's just total misery—all thanks to allergies. Now, normally that wouldn't be such a huge disaster... I'd just stay home, take a week of sick leave from work, and call it a day. But the timing is just brutal: I have to give a lecture tomorrow, and there's almost zero chance of postponing or canceling it since I've been coordinating this for the last month.
Right now, I've got a fever, I feel like garbage, my voice sounds absolutely horrific, and I can't stop coughing. Even though I'm usually 🙂 and 🙂 at the same time, I'm really not sure if I'll physically be able to stand up there for an hour tomorrow—and please, don't give me any "just sit down" advice, because I've already heard it and I know chairs were invented for a reason, but you know what I mean... figuratively speaking... and still. I need to actually talk and look like I know what I'm doing.
So I'm asking you experts, friends, counselors, and comrades: what's the best thing to take before a presentation to boost my energy levels? Tylenol, obviously—I need to get this fever under control (even though it's gone for now, the question is whether it'll come back tomorrow at 2 PM). Red Bull? Maybe Red Bull mixed with vodka 😬
Is there anything else I haven't thought of yet?
Come on, be helpful, be quick (I gotta go buy whatever you suggest), and please don't recommend anything that's gonna land me in jail, thanks 🙂

Carol Jackson45 said:Look, if I can take a sad kid seriously, I can probably handle some kid asking about drugs. Even if half this stuff is just trolling—like Apex said—there’s definitely people looking for actual answers. Shouldn't the health mod be cleaning up these stupid replies anyway?😉
What, since they want to try drugs, does that mean they're actually suicidal? If so, why waste the money? Why not just jump off a balcony?
You'd probably do the same thing to a kid wanting to have sex who's asking how to stay safe, because you view sex as nothing but STDs and unwanted pregnancies. It's the exact same logic. 🙂
🙂 you really think there's anyone like that around here? 🤔
placidranger said:Look, even if it is a bot, I don't care. There are kids out there asking the exact same questions who will end up reading this. I was that kid once—except I didn't go to an online forum; I asked the older crowd, and they just jerked me around a few times.
Wait, hold up—you actually think the advice you're dropping in this thread is worth reading? Like it's some kind of profound wisdom or actual help for a young guy trying to navigate the brutal reality of the drug scene?
It honestly blows my mind that someone would actually sit there and give a serious answer to some troll who starts their very first post by claiming they’re 17 and have already lived a thousand lifetimes 😁 😁 😁 😁
And then you guys have the nerve to act all high and mighty—calling everyone else hypocrites while acting like you're the moral compass of the internet? 🤣 🤣 🤣
Sam Hall15 said:well, it’s not just "any old bacteria"... first off, which serotype are we actually talking about? if it just caused an ear infection, it’s probably a non-encapsulated type (like biotype 2 or 3), which aren't nearly as scary... but if it’s the encapsulated kind—most likely serotype 2—then things get heavy (we're talking meningitis, sepsis, septic arthritis, bone infections, pericarditis...) in those cases, you usually have to give kids under 4 who were exposed on prophylactic rifampin...
Doc, don't overcomplicate things here 😁 😁
Look, the guy clearly stated the kid just has an ear infection.
The influence is a super common cause of ear infections.
So why bring up sepsis and joint infections and rifampin now? 😕
Oh yeah, because clearly the best way to handle antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds is just taking them because a buddy with similar issues told you to—you know, like stomach nerves or whatever... 🤔 since when did that even become a real medical condition?
I’m asking everyone to please hold off on the "is he dead or not" debates here.
It’s obvious that cancer won this fight—just like it has for so many family members of people on this forum, and honestly, even some of our own friends here... Speculating about whether his final breath was taken this morning, later this afternoon, or maybe a few days from now isn't necessary. It’s actually pretty distasteful, and it feels disrespectful to both his family (who I really hope never have to deal with this community) and to all of us who have sat by the side of our own loved ones in those final moments.
So you've been stuck in this loop for months now—trying to decide between glasses or contacts? And instead of just picking one, you're just letting your prescription get worse and worse... walking around basically blind? (I really hope you aren't driving 😠 )
Just keep overthinking it then, sweetheart... see where that gets you 🙂
