Secessionism in the United States in World ·
Not unless... until they stop exporting war, sucking other countries dry for their resources, and basically just practicing pure parasitism to keep the USA on life support... then we can talk.
Major American holidays in Close to Politics ·
It’s honestly pathetic how they messed with the holiday schedule; half the country probably doesn't even know which day is which anymore. And this one right here? It’s supposedly one of the "most patriotic" or "most sacred" days, since without what it commemorates, there wouldn't even be a Republic of America to speak of.
Israel shouldn't exist, and Zionism is a religion, not a nation. in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Cheap, run-of-the-mill attempt to frame an opponent—in this case, just verbally—by weaponizing World War II, fascism, and Nazism, which translates locally to those extremist fringe groups here.

It’s honestly tragicomic, especially considering how many times I’ve gone toe-to-toe in heated arguments with certain people on this forum whom I personally label as fascist sympathizers. 🙂

Get this: she actually tried to insist that "Jew" should always be capitalized, for crying out loud. 😵

But look, "Jew" is lowercase because it refers to a religious group; Zionists love calling them an "ethno-religious" group rather than a nation, regardless of how some ancient, moth-eaten document might have spelled it.

and honestly, even us mods can't always tell what's actually being displayed
so look, this isn't some targeted attack on anyone or any specific side, my only goal here is to make sure people can actually have decent discussions about obvious, sensitive, and current topics without everything blowing up

Correction, it’s actually super easy to check.

Just for example. Copy and paste this text (Palestine) into this site: http://translate.google.com/#ar|en|

Alright, whatever. Fine, signatures are gone.

hollowtrucker77 said:Yeah, look, I’ve always been all for free speech and letting people say whatever they want, but honestly? That only goes so far before people start weaponizing it just to cause trouble.
So now I’m stuck with no other choice but to double down and demand a formal statement that everyone here can actually read, just so the mods can see exactly what kind of mess we're dealing with.

Look, I didn't mess around with my signature or anything like that, so don't even go there. On one version, it literally said Palestine right under the text, and on the other one, it had Lebanon written in Arabic script right beneath my handle.

Look, if the rules are laid out the same way for everyone, then yeah, you gotta follow them—but that doesn't mean the rules actually make sense or aren't total garbage. Following a rule just because it exists doesn't automatically make it right.

In the States, we just use the Latin alphabet for everything.
If you're out here picking fights with Israelis, you better make sure you actually know where Palestine is located.

Excuse me?

Who even talks about war like that? Who the hell gave you the right to act like you can just send people off to fight in some conflict? Seriously, what kind of low-rent discussion is this?

I noticed you’ve been talking a bit differently lately: I don't know about you guys, but I’ve been sitting here staring at this mess of a situation, trying to make sense of how we even got to this point, and honestly, it feels like everyone is just shouting into a void without actually listening to a single damn thing anyone else is saying. It’s like watching a slow-motion train wreck where every person involved thinks they’re the only one with a brain, while the rest of us are just left picking up the pieces of whatever half-baked idea was thrown at the wall. I was reading some stuff earlier—nothing too heavy, just some general observations on how things are moving lately—and it hit me that we’ve completely lost the ability to have a real conversation. Everything is so polarized now, so aggressive, that if you don't immediately jump on the bandwagon of whatever the loudest group is screaming about, you’re basically treated like an outcast. It’s exhausting, man. I find myself wanting to just check out entirely because the level of performative outrage is getting ridiculous. Anyway, I saw what hollowtrucker77 was saying about the whole thing, and look, I get where they're coming from, really I do, but I think they might be oversimplifying the entire dynamic. It isn't just one thing or one specific error; it’s this systemic failure to actually communicate. We act like everything is black and white, but life in America is mostly shades of gray, and yet we insist on painting everything in neon colors just so we can feel superior for five minutes. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm probably just being cynical and talking out of my ass here, but it feels like we're all just circling the drain. We need to stop looking for easy answers to impossible problems and maybe, just maybe, start acknowledging that most people are just trying to figure things out as they go, much like I am, even if I'm doing a pretty mediocre job of it.

Since when did writing in a different script become a punishable offense?
A lot of folks around here keep stuff in their signatures, and sometimes they'll even drop a little note in there too.
Where's the provocation in congratulating Inter?
Isn't he an Inter guy?

You can have her signature on your letterhead too if you want. But on the American forums, everyone just uses the standard alphabet.

Alright, fine. I see they finally scrubbed the Hebrew script from that one user's profile, so I guess they're actually being consistent with the ban after all.

I’m still sticking to my guns on this—it’s just wrong to go around banning letters like that, but hey, it’s not my forum to run.

It’s good to know there's actually a ban on using Arabic script, among other things.

We could go back and forth on that all day, but honestly, if we're doing this, we might as well ban Hebrew too, otherwise I—or anyone else for that matter—am going to feel like we're looking at straight-up discrimination.

don't try to play dumb now and act like I'm pushing some kind of anti-Arab agenda on this forum (LOL)

And yeah—you're lying, because that's exactly what's happening here, and I don't feel like sugarcoating things for a liar.
I gave you plenty of time to fix your signature, yet somehow you had enough time to shoot me a DM and then just keep scrolling through the site, but couldn't manage the one thing I actually asked you to do??

Every profile you're showing off here uses the Latin alphabet

I'm not playing dumb and I'm not pushing anything. So, since Arabic numerals are widely recognized, does that mean they're automatically allowed?
Seriously, I still haven't gotten an answer to my question: "Is it forbidden to write in Arabic script on this forum (assuming signatures are exempt)?"

And no, I'm not lying, and you're still being rude, if not outright primitive. I just got back to my computer and saw the DM; I replied immediately, so you can check the timestamps and see exactly when I showed up. Honestly, it doesn't even matter.

hollowtrucker77 said:goldensailor15, I'm pretty sure you'll have no trouble finding some corner of the internet where writing in Arabic is actually welcomed.
this is an American forum and we write using the Latin alphabet here.
not Cyrillic, not Chinese or Japanese characters, not Arabic, and definitely not chicken scratch.

and don't try to play me by claiming you haven't been on this forum before, because I can shut that down easy enough.

you're whining about a signature that bugs you, but you aren't even asking yourself why it bothers you in the first place.
maybe it's just because it's in Latin script and you can actually read it?

hollowtrucker77, look, it’s not even about me looking for a place where Arabic script is welcome or whatever—that's totally irrelevant.

I am fully aware that this site is an American forum, which is exactly why I was trying to get a straight answer from the owner or someone in charge regarding any potential ban on using Arabic script.

Since I didn't get a real answer from you, I'm asking plainly: Is writing in Arabic script prohibited on this forum (excluding signatures)?

And honestly, I'm not feeling that tone at all. Telling me "don't lie"? That's just plain rude.

Why would I even lie? I was participating in a thread and stepped away from my computer. When I came back, I saw a PM from you, and only after reading it—and before I even thought about changing my signature—did I notice that both my text signature and the one under my username had been stripped.

This is an American forum, yet plenty of people use different languages in their signatures, and even some usernames are foreign. Some people even use Hebrew, for example: http://www.example.com/member.php?u=1574 so I'm asking again, clearly: Is Arabic script banned on this site, and does that rule apply to the script itself or does it include numbers too?

Thanks in advance.

I’m calling on the site admins or whoever actually runs this place to weigh in on the issue in this thread title if they even can.

Basically, my signature used Arabic script, which didn't contain a single shred of offensive content—something anyone who doesn't speak a word of Arabic could easily verify via http://translate.google.com/#ar|en|—yet it was yanked without any explanation whatsoever.

The only thing I got was a private message from ZgSash saying, "remove that signature, please, and from now on make sure it's exclusively in the Latin alphabet."

I wasn't hanging around the site for a bit, but when I checked back, I saw my signature was gone along with the text under my username.

So how am I supposed to interpret a ban on a specific script, or the implication that we're restricted to the Latin alphabet based on ZgSash's message, when you see other users rocking Hebrew signatures all over the place (just look at the Israel-Palestine threads, for example)?

It's ridiculous.

I started wondering if, by that logic, using Arabic numerals should also be banned, unless my reasoning is totally off base.

If the excuse is some nonsense like "some people don't understand Arabic, so that's fine, blah blah blah," then I'll just point out that plenty of people here don't understand English either, yet we have a ton of signatures on this forum using it.

Sarah Wilson95 said:you know damn well where these "free debates" end up, but honestly, that's not my headache

I know exactly what you're getting at, and yeah, I get that it's not your problem. This is an open forum where anyone can sign up and post, regardless of their age, IQ, bias, background, or religion. I guess that’s why we have moderators to step in and keep things from spiraling.

There's a massive difference between just spewing baseless, inflammatory, fanboy nonsense without any actual logic and having a meaningful conversation about stuff. That’s the key, and trying to censor or ban people just ends up being a step backward in every possible way.
There will always be more critics than supporters, or vice versa, and people will always be offended, which is kind of the whole point of a discussion—to swap ideas, even if some of them shock people.

Personally, I don't think we should be banning just about everything, because calls for violence or hate speech actually say more about the person typing them than anything else; we should all be smart enough to see that and just deal with it by ignoring them.

But whatever, I'm only weighing in here because the guy who started this thread is clearly trying to lean on the site admins with a bunch of fabrications and subjective takes that have zero connection to reality.

In a world full of wars fought without weapons, some people still haven't realized that using silence and censorship as a way to win an argument is impossible, especially in this internet age.

Sarah Wilson95 said:Look, you and I actually agree on quite a few things when it comes to the garbage the Israeli government pulls. I follow this stuff like a hawk, I have to admit, mostly because the subject interests me—Israel is a fascinating geographic and political concept, even if the political ENTITY itself is a bit less appealing😁. BUT, I have never once questioned the right of the State of Israel to exist, or the existence of the Jewish people as a political community in that sense. What really gets under my skin is the lack of a Palestinian state, which I see as a massive problem, an injustice, a total mess, bad policy, and a toxic mix of all those things combined.

We use the word Zionism today in a way that’s clearly different from its original meaning, and I’ve definitely used it myself when talking about current events, but let’s be real here: your claim that "Zionism = Nazism" is just wild. Look, this is a forum; everything stays on the server as long as it exists (🤣🤣)

We need to maintain some level of decency in this discussion, otherwise, it’s just going to devolve into a barroom brawl full of insults🤷

Whether you and I see eye to eye or not, you don't get to ban discussion just because you don't like it, provided it isn't hate speech or inciting violence. I’m not sure what our specific legal standards say regarding this, but it seems pretty absurd to try and censor exactly what you want silenced.

I am not using hate speech and I am not calling for violence—if anything, my posts show the opposite. However, I will repeatedly question the concept of Jews as a single people, especially since they define themselves as an "ethno-religious" group. Maybe that deserves its own thread, but it’s tied directly to the formation of the Jewish State of Israel, so it inevitably keeps coming up in these talks.
What I am questioning—and I’ve made this clear a million times—is the existence of this kind of Israel, which is essentially a racist construct built on racist laws. Besides, if I were to question the existence of any version of Israel, why would that be banned? If it bothers you, just dismiss me as "some random anonymous guy on the internet talking nonsense" and move on.
If we followed your logic, half the content on the internet would be illegal, yet there are millions of other topics being discussed freely—topics that are far more sensitive and significantly more important to humanity than Israel's right to exist, if you ask me.

The existence of an Israel like this inherently denies, and will continue to deny, the existence of any Palestine in the occupied territories; I assume that much is obvious to you. Just today, I posted a link about an Israeli settler shooting at two Palestinians in the West Bank near Hebron. A settler shooting at people not within Israel (which would be a crime), but in the occupied territory.

Yeah, it’s a heavy comparison, but unfortunately, it's true because the facts back it up. Go read the core tenets of Zionism and compare them to Nazi ideology; I think your outrage might evaporate once you do.

Sorry, but I don't see how my posts are lowering the quality of this debate.

Sarah Wilson95 said:Look, I know it’s probably a losing battle trying to argue with the mod stick😁, but I gotta ask: seriously, can you actually tell the difference between criticizing Israeli policy—all that shady crap they pull off with such blatant arrogance—and what we're actually fighting about here? We're talking about the moderator brain trust deciding that people should be allowed to openly debate the legitimacy of the State of Israel itself—including bringing in Stormfront-style garbage—plus this disgusting back-and-forth about whether being Jewish is an ethnicity or just a religion. Like, come on, be real for a second: if someone started posting similar nonsense about the US and the American people, what would you personally do?
??

By what damn RIGHT does any random user get to hide behind "freedom of speech" to feel comfortable spewing trash about the existence of the State of Israel or debating if they're Israelis or Jews? Or writing "jews" with a lowercase 'j', all while playing the champion of democracy, spitting on censors, and demanding liberties nobody even considered giving you in the first place???

Come on... there aren't nearly as many people here enjoying this pro-Nazi filth as you seem to think

What are you even talking about? How are you any different from the other cookie-cutter types when you reduce everything down to some Stormfront comparison? To you, it's Stormfront, it's shadowjackal88... what's the actual distinction?

Do a little homework and look into who actually gets to dictate the terminology regarding how nations and ethnic groups are defined. Or do you think you're the one who gets to decide those rules?

Who gave you the authority to decide what's allowed to be written and what isn't?

To be clear, my posts have absolutely nothing to do with Nazism; I despise it just as much as Zionism because they're essentially the same thing, and if you choose to play the conformist, that's your own damn problem.

Period.

So what if he doesn't hang out here? He laid out some fundamental points that are actually reasonable, humane, and civilized.

The situation in Israel and the occupied territories pops up sporadically in the news, and even then, everything we hear goes through a dozen different filters before it hits us. This whole thing with the ship just sparked extra public interest, which brought a wave of new people into this specific discussion—people who don't normally weigh in on this stuff, yourself included.

You keep harping on about how the country should look "according to you"—which you've made pretty clear a few times now—but just because you think that's how things work doesn't make it reality.

Man, look at all the insults and pamphlets packed into that opening post.

The whole point isn't even whether Israel should exist or what any of us, online folks, have to say about it.
I’m speaking responsibly here, just like I did in the other thread. A regime like this Israel shouldn't be allowed to exist, much like how apartheid-era South Africa shouldn't have been allowed to exist—yet there we were. Look, right now, they're hosting a World Cup over there. We're living in the 21st century, yet what we're seeing in the Middle East, in Europe, and across the modern world is just mind-boggling. Don't get me wrong, it's not the only place with issues, but this specific area (I'm talking about Israel) markets itself as some kind of democracy. It's pathetic.

Besides, the core issue isn't Israel's existence per se; the heart of the matter is the terror exerted by Jews over non-Jews that everyone just seems to tolerate.

When you look at how people define nations and ethnicities in general—take, for example, Muslims in Marshall's America versus today's Jews in Israel and beyond:
The clichés we need to tear apart—and banning discussion on them would be totally counterproductive—are the real issue. The whole concept of an "ethnoreligion" is worth debating on its own. It's segregational, chauvinistic, and outdated, which makes it worth scrutinizing any group forced into that mold, as well as the "nation" that emerges from it. How can Semitic Jews and various European arrivals in Israel possibly be considered one single people? For starters, genetics completely debunks that, let alone a culture that was basically stitched together by force later on.

I won't ramble on, but I had to mention the pathetic, hyper-consistent way the OP tries to lean on the site moderators every single day.
