China's economy: What's the move? in Formula 1 ·
stormybadger8 said:🙏 honestly, I don't even know what to say to you, 🤣

but that was an incredibly sharp observation, 😁🤣

You really need to just take a breath and settle down... if you stop being so bitter about everything, things will eventually fall into place 🙂

By the way, if you look at how Robert Kubica, Vitali Petrov, and Button were in the pits for a full minute faster than the rest of the field, it’s obvious that without those brilliant strategic calls, they would have been nowhere near the top ten; honestly, even Michael Schumacher wouldn't have been able to pull off a win against Nico Rosberg given that kind of time gap in the pits, or maybe he just would have ended up right on his tail anyway.😲

This whole thing was quite clearly a race defined by disastrous strategic blunders.

You're making more mistakes than Horner Safety🤣 😂

That safety car completely wiped out whatever advantage they had managed to scrape together...
Get your act together.😁[/url][/I]

Renault is finally finding its footing, and I honestly believe we'll be seeing them lift the world championship trophy before we know it.

I mean, if Michael Schumacher can still be making claims like that, then there's absolutely no reason why we can't follow suit.😁

😂 🤣

Now the Russians will just go ahead and conquer Western Europe, aided by the Poles and a bunch of fifth columnists from France and England... 🙏 🙏 🙏

But seriously, no jokes here... just look at how that performance gap is shrinking during qualifying sessions... I realize they probably can't sustain this kind of rapid improvement indefinitely, but even so...🙏

Bahrain:
Robert Kubica - Sebastian Vettel = 1.784
Robert Kubica - Felipe Massa = 1.683

Australia:
Robert Kubica - Sebastian Vettel = 1.543
Robert Kubica - Fernando Alonso = 1.261

China:
Robert Kubica - Sebastian Vettel = 0.806
Robert Kubica - Fernando Alonso = 0.451

Morgan Murphy7 said:just ignore TBD, they're clearly just chronically allergic to General Motors and Fernando Alonso

The only actual truth here is that Alonso was clearly rattled by that recent string of terrible starts, so he focused entirely on minimizing his own damage because, let’s be real, in Formula 1 you can't get away with much without being penalized, and he knows that better than anyone, so this whole idea that he did it on purpose just to pull a fast one is absolute nonsense 🙏

I honestly have no clue what has been going on with TBD lately...
If I were just hanging out in an all-male group right now, I’d probably have a diagnosis ready and share it openly with everyone 😉

Maybe if they could just go back to being the old TBD... 😁

Anyway, did anyone actually see all that absolute wreckage that forced the SC to come out on track? 🤷

VITALI PETROV 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏

🙏 🙏

At this rate, he might finally shake off this slump and actually start putting some points on the board.

stormybadger8 said:🤷I mean, maybe, though I honestly can't see any reason to hand out a penalty to anyone here; there wasn't any pushing involved, nor did anyone cross the white line, so I don't get the fuss. Hamilton simply pulled out from behind Vettel and moved laterally to hold his position, which isn't pushing at all.😕

Maybe they can hit them with a speeding penalty, but honestly, I can't see any other valid reason for it. If we’re actually looking to hand out punishments, they really ought to be going after Massa and Alonso first for that aggressive shoving during the pit lane entry.

You used to be quite stubborn, if I recall correctly...

What a total sham... you have absolutely no idea how much tension there is right at the starting line of any race...

It’s a purely reflexive decision, really... there’s just no way someone can walk away from that without facing consequences.

I was just scrolling through some racing news on ESPN and saw that Massa mentioned how he thinks Alonso's pit lane move was actually fine...
He basically admitted that he was the one who messed up the corner entry back then.

stormybadger8 said:They really should have waved the black flag for what happened at the start, because honestly, a disqualification right then and there would have been the only fair way to handle it. He put together a decent enough race under the circumstances, I'll give him that, but you just don't see people getting away with a start like that in any other professional sport. In any legitimate American athletic competition, those kinds of dirty tactics are met with an immediate disqualification, and frankly, that’s exactly the kind of decisive punishment this situation deserves if we want to maintain any sense of integrity in the sport.😳

Now you’re really taking things too far... he didn't put anyone in any kind of danger. He simply got exactly what was coming to him.

He went out and grabbed an advantage he hadn't actually earned, so naturally, they had to strip it right back from him.

slybison8 said:I have to agree that there’s tension—but honestly, it goes both ways. If we're looking at this objectively, Alonso lost a spot from where he started on the grid, which is a disappointing result, though I wouldn't call it a total disaster. As for Massa, he just didn't have the luck this time, and it isn't like Alonso did anything out of the ordinary to him, considering how they've clashed in previous races. Everything should ideally remain perfectly fine and professional here; this simply isn't that kind of toxic, destructive rivalry we witnessed back during the McLaren 2007-e era.

All five of them... and you'll certainly find plenty of people ready to argue with you when you try to claim that Alonso is the superior driver...

It's not like I actually expect some massive blowout or a complete meltdown inside the Ferrari garage either...

Nor am I calling for penalties... nobody actually put anyone in any real danger today.

Besides, I'm genuinely excited to see just how quickly Renault is closing that gap...

There's a whole thread about this going on over at PlanetF1 and Autosport too.

I'll keep an eye on it and see how they manage to shrink that performance gap...

slybison8 said:The stewards have spoken and frankly, they’ve settled the matter once and for all: Fernando Alonso takes a fourth-place penalty while Felipe Massa walks away with a tenth without any punishment at all. Case closed. We can go ahead and clear the garage of all the porcelain, glass, and sharp objects now because this whole debate is officially over.

Look, everyone knows I’m a huge fan of Fernando Alonso, but if you actually take a second to look at the race dynamics, it feels like we need a much deeper analysis than what's being offered... I honestly think the SC played a significant role here, even if just a little bit.

Classic Lewis Hamilton... just absolutely punishing those tires like there's no tomorrow... you get a few laps of pure brilliance and then suddenly the car starts dancing all over the track like it's lost its mind.

Jenson Button is absolutely schooling Lewis Hamilton...

He went into the pits twice as many times as he should have... good grief.
The SC just completely wiped out all that effort.

hollowhawk412, you might want to sit down before you start watching this race 😳 😁

I can already see Massa ripping his fuel line loose just so he can go swinging it around at Alons 🤣
it's practically playing out in my head right now 🙏

😁 😉

here I am talking about actual emotions and you're being like this... 😂 🤣

so I guess that's how "love" expresses itself these days 😂

Michael Lee4 said:It’s a shame, really, because nobody could have actually made it into the pits right now... though I suppose the race becomes a bit more entertaining for those losers who had to pit twice earlier on.

Well, yeah... I didn't see Standard Chartered driving through the pit lane at all...
but Hulk went into the pits while Standard Chartered was still out there on the track...

Michael Lee4 said:Alguersuari lost his front wing right as he was heading into the pits, which forced the Safety car out to clear the debris... and honestly, it completely screwed over the guys at the top of the leaderboard. They had built up this beautiful, steady lead, and now everything is just gone to shit

If you ask me, the only thing worth a penalty here is Sebastian Vettel, because he was driving like a maniac, blocking Lewis Hamilton and shoving him right off the track.

I mean, seriously, is that really enough of a reason for an SC????

Austin Evans said:I’m not even watching the race live; I’m just keeping tabs on it through ESPN. Why the hell is there a Safety car out on the track? What's going on?

Nothing at all... absolutely nothing happened.

Everyone is obsessing over Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, while this Safety car situation is honestly just a joke...

It's a blatant handout to those drivers fighting for the lead... a total disaster.
China Grand Prix in Formula 1 ·
What kind of damn SC is this even supposed to be?

It’s because of that absolute disaster of a wing... what a complete disgrace...
