By the way, I was drinking beer pretty regularly even while on the medication—so I’m reasonably sure it wasn't an issue.

So, about a week ago, I wiped out on my scooter on a sharp right turn. My shoulder swelled up a little, but honestly, the pain wasn't even that bad at first. I went to see my primary care doctor—she gave me some pills, I picked up some topical gel, and she basically told me I just bruised it and would be fine in about ten days.
Fast forward seven days later, and things haven't improved one bit. Yesterday afternoon, while I was passing by the local hospital, I decided to swing by the ER. Since they weren't slammed, they actually saw me pretty quickly.
They ran some imaging on the shoulder, and the doctor diagnosed me with a "dislocated shoulder." He saw the hematoma and checked the X-rays, then recommended I fully immobilize my arm and shoulder. I pushed back a little—mostly because I showed up on my scooter and didn't want to be totally stuck—so he just gave me a sling around my neck and told me to find someone to help me apply a Dessen wrap.
Now I'm sitting here wondering what the move is. Maybe I should actually take some sick leave and follow his advice to stay immobilized for at least 10 days. I'm really torn on what to do...

Just kidding, no... they aren't great for your stomach—that's actually why doctors swap them out—but they can definitely mess with you. For me, personally, they were basically a one-way ticket to constant diarrhea...

I’m really hoping it recedes completely—it still peeks through a little bit, which is honestly pretty distracting when I'm trying to get things done... My doctor says it’ll clear up, it just takes some time... I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he's right.

Usually, you just pop into an optical shop, get a quick exam, grab some contacts, and call it a day. That was basically the whole routine for my partner—she’s sitting at maybe a -2 prescription, so it wasn't exactly a medical emergency.
