GPU Buying Guide - (Read first post) in Desktops ·
Susan Anderson77 said:I picked up a PC a few days ago, but I already realized I need a GPU upgrade. Right now I'm stuck with an AMD Radeon HD 7560 D, and the card I actually need is a 6570 since that's what works with my Dual Graphics setup.
I checked eBay and Amazon, but they're all listed at $167, and I saw one on Craigslist for 320, but someone grabbed it first. Now I'm just hunting for a site or a shop where I can snag one for less than $167. As long as the site is legit and takes PayPal, I'm good. Thanks in advance 🙂.

Why the sudden upgrade? What kind of RAM are you running?

Dual Graphics isn't exactly a game-changer, honestly. If you're going to spend the money anyway, I guess it might be better to save up a bit longer and just grab a decent dedicated card.

It works, but I guess the CPU won't be able to fully tap into its potential.

PCI Express x16 refers to the slot size, while PCI Express 3.0 is all about the bandwidth. It might actually come in handy, especially since that card isn't exactly a powerhouse.

Wait, since when do Gigabyte cards come with three years of coverage?

Maybe just grab a wattmeter and check it yourself.

If you don't care about the price tag, then the Titan is the way to go:

If you're planning on running an HD7770, the price difference is probably worth it, and honestly, any PSU you pick will handle it just fine.

If you just need to get an image on your screen, I guess you could just grab whatever cheapest thing you can find.

Nah, I guess 1GB is plenty for 1080p, so you might be better off just grabbing a nicer monitor and some extra storage instead.

So, here’s the deal: you should be fine to play without much trouble. But look, nobody’s got a crystal ball to predict exactly what the requirements for something like GTA 5 will look like. Who knows? Maybe it’ll turn out to be some unoptimized mess like GTA 4 and you won't even be able to run it...

You’re probably gonna need the 2GB version if you’re running anything higher than 1080p or if you’re rocking a multi-monitor setup.

Everyone's out there somewhere, I guess. Just go for the one with the best warranty.

What if you just added $33 and grabbed the one with the IPS panel instead?

From what I can tell, only the AOC has those dual HDMI ports, so that’s probably your best bet.

Those IPS panels are a solid choice, too—you can find some pretty cheap ones these days. For example, check out this Dell UltraSharp Monitor:

Planning on gaming?

The HD6570 is okay for games, but for that $167 you could probably snag an HD6670, which is a way better pick. Toss in another $5 or so and you can grab an HD6670 with GDDR5 memory:

It really just depends on how much power they plan to pull, so maybe a 550W unit is overkill.

Doesn't really matter, either one of those two should handle it just fine. The Corsair is modular and comes with an extra year of warranty, though I guess it does cost a bit more.

HD7750 or HD7770, I guess.

I wouldn't trust the Corsair VS series much; honestly, you're probably better off skipping it altogether.

As for a bottleneck, I guess it might happen since that Athlon 3600+ is pretty slow.

If you're stuck with an Athlon 3600+, I guess modern games are gonna crawl.

And honestly, skip that power supply—you're better off grabbing one of these:
