here is why:

Indianapolis Motor Speedway is always a blast, regardless of how much the weather decides to mess with us.👍

That’s exactly why they run four laps in situations like that.☕
1 - an in-lap to get moving.
2 - a fast lap around 2:00.
3 - a slow lap around 2:30.
4 - then they time a fast one to catch those last few seconds...
And that's precisely why they hit the track at a specific time before the end; they're actually pretty good at calculating exactly how much time they need.
During that slow lap before the final one, they can figure out their pace and speed up or slow down depending on the situation to make sure they cross right at the finish.
They've got the tech in the car and they aren't idiots...

For the crew, the real headache is fuel—making sure they don't have too little or way too much.
Timing and pacing isn't even half the battle compared to managing the fuel.

Look, they were also absolutely certain during that slow entry lap that the track would dry out and that they needed to stay out as long as possible before hitting that last lap.
Give me a break.
You're forgetting that back then, we all—and I mean everyone, including you, I bet—thought the guy from Indy had done a flawless job and that the track was just getting faster and faster because the pole belonged to him. It was pure luck, honestly.
William Bennett53 said:You can say whatever you want, but let’s be honest: Ferrari absolutely botched the strategy here. Reaching one more timed lap isn't some matter of luck; it's pure math. We've seen plenty of instances where someone miscalculates and fails to complete that extra lap, yet I have never once heard anyone claim it was a stroke of bad luck. 🤷

As for how Hamilton is doing (🙏 🙏 🙏), damn, I have to admit—the guy went from being someone I couldn't stand to being incredibly likable. Now, he's actually one of those drivers whose results I genuinely find myself rooting for. 🙏

Just try explaining to me how you're supposed to know if you need a 1:55 or a 2:10 for a lap in those final frantic minutes. Even their fancy, high-tech, state-of-the-art weather sensors can't predict that stuff. The fact that the track dried out just enough? Yeah, that's definitely luck.

But hey, if Alonso hadn't been sitting on that +10 second gap with two laps to go, there's a massive chance he could've squeezed into that last timed lap.
stormybadger8 said:I mean, seriously? Ferrari was easily the fastest car on track all weekend whenever conditions got messy, only to completely fall off a cliff during Q3—and specifically when the weather was acting up...
FP1, Q1, even Q2...

And I honestly can't wrap my head around how they were sitting nearly 10 seconds behind Fernando Alonso in that first timed lap of Q3.😕
Did someone pull the plug on them, did they spin out, were the timers broken, or did some kid mess with the gear?

That was likely that lap where the yellow flags popped up—I think Webber was just finishing his flyer. So, I'm betting there was some kind of crash we missed.

But honestly, if Alonso had managed to squeeze in one more timed lap—since he was the first guy behind Lewis Hamilton who didn't make it back—I bet he would've snatched a top 3 spot, maybe even pole position.

So, if you ask me, today was just a lucky break for the top three, and we still have absolutely no clue which car is actually the fastest.🤷
Raymond Anderson4 said:Yeah, that was all about tactics. They stuck to the plan and pushed the pace, just hoping they'd find some better grip on the track.
Sebastian Vettel crossed the line just seven seconds behind the leader, but he wasn't giving up. He was fighting to shave off every possible millisecond, and it paid off—he actually clocked his fastest lap of the race during that final circuit.
If Fernando Alonso had just a little more time on his side, he might have snatched that final lap, but it just wasn't meant to be. Honestly, that's Red Bull for you—they’re exactly where they belong at the top.

And look, even Fernando Alonso clocked his best time on his very last flyer; the only difference is, unlike the top three, he didn't quite squeeze in one extra flying lap before the lights went out.
Honestly, calling all this "tactics" is a stretch—I highly doubt any crew chief in any garage actually knew exactly how many precious seconds they had left in those final minutes to pull off a full circuit, let alone try to micromanage a strategy to hit a fast lap in the literal eleventh hour.
forget all that talk about strategy—it was pure luck, honestly 🤮
Honestly, Ferrari looks pretty manageable today—it’s not like they’re fighting the car every single second or anything 👍

I mean, hopefully they aren't driving empty shells out there

basically, are you actually pushing it hard in sector 1 or sector 2 ☕

So, were those four weeks just a total vacation, or were they actually grinding behind the scenes? (Even if they were keeping it low-key)
I mean, what are the actual odds we see some massive upgrade package from Ferrari soon? 😳

How much longer is this Ferrari gonna drag its feet? -.-'

It’s not like the car wasn't already halfway off the track anyway...
Tyler Bennett5 said:Kudos to Mark and Lewis. Huge congrats to Nico Rosberg on taking the win.
I mean, what exactly did Fernando Alonso do today to make his fans feel so vindicated?
Was it just because the guys ahead of him either blew their tires or had to retire?
Felipe Massa started right behind him, but after that tire failure, he had such a massive struggle just to limp back to the pits
that he ended up finishing only 7 seconds behind Alonso.

So you're telling me an SC for 6 laps didn't help him stay within 7 seconds of Alonso?
Not to mention that other SC right before it too.
Jason Campbell70 said:Did anyone actually expect much from Sebastian Vettel in this race? I mean, he started on the second row. 😂

🤣🤣
Let's just cruise under the SC until the end, honestly—I'd rather not wait for someone else to suffer a slow puncture too.🤮

what kind of race is this when there isn't even a single Finger involved 🤣

Finally, a little bit of excitement in this race
