If you guys have another album you love, go ahead and suggest it over the next few weeks. It’s not against the rules. 😳
Maybe in a week or two. I'll throw out some jazz or hip hop suggestions when I'm too busy to start a whole new thread. Don't expect a massive flood of replies either, especially if I pick some underground artists.
That clone isn't mine, by the way. But honestly, for an account with basically zero activity on the forum, they sure know their stuff. They already get how the weekly thread works, how voting goes, uploading pics, all that. Most people don't even grasp the basics after being here a while. Not my job to police it, though. We have a crew for that.🙂
I’m actually feeling pretty good about Stanley. I mean, the guy is a phenomenal jazz pianist, so you can't really go wrong with two votes—even if one of them probably came from some random bot. All things considered, it’s not a bad look. 😎
Happy Monday, everyone. It's honestly a bit weird seeing Reich score so low here. I mean, the work is incredible. You can clearly see how much Aphex Twin drew inspiration from him during his Saw II era, so I was definitely expecting a higher rating.
I was right on the fence about voting for Animal Collective, but I'll pass. Honestly, they deserve credit for how they utilize the SP-404 sampler. People used to dismiss it as just a toy for kids until someone actually turned it into a serious tool. It's the exact same thing that happened with the Microkorg—suddenly every cool kid in the scene is using one.
Hey everyone! I have to say, Roy has been my big discovery of the week—mostly because that specific tone in his voice just blends so perfectly with everything else in the music.
Also, super stoked about the RS pick. It’s going to be awesome having a total rock classic on the playlist next week.

Is this another masterpiece that actually tops Wu's 36 Chambers? 🤔
The first movie wasn't exactly a masterpiece by any stretch, but those brief glimpses of the Cenobites and those quick flashes of their ideology? That gave the whole thing such a cool edge. Plus, the raw directing style really worked with the script. Some of that vibe stuck around for the sequel, but most of it just faded away.
I’d be shocked if this remake doesn't totally miss the mark. It’ll probably end up feeling super generic and overproduced, losing everything that actually made the original worth watching in the first place.
A whole lot has been happening lately! First off, I'm seriously stoked for Robert. Plus, we get to hear some top-tier soul next week. There were a few other great writers who didn't make the cut this time, but hey, there'll be plenty more chances coming up soon.
They’ll probably just pivot the story to some successor of Maximus, but honestly? It’s going to be a disaster. It’ll be just like when they swapped out Jean-Claude Van Damme for a totally uncharismatic Sasha Mitchell in Kickboxer 2. There's just no way this works.

I'm wishing you a super speedy recovery! In the meantime, we'll be hanging out with Screamadelica. I still remember those Primal Scream music videos from back in the 90s. I'm definitely going to dive into the whole album and read your review once you're feeling back to your old self.
Dennis Hall41 said:Your titles actually make sense. But then there's Kladfvgbung Micshk. Look, I get that the title isn't everything, but you should probably pick something that someone other than Timmy from South Park can actually read. Would anyone call Sgt. Pepper the greatest album ever if it was titled Sgt. Pepper's Stinky Asshole?
Different era, different kids.
Dennis Hall41 said:So, Gerald Jackson48, got any work to share? I'm genuinely curious.
I've got some half-baked stuff—short loops and early ideas. I really need to export them to an mp3 or something similar. I might even have an old profile on SoundCloud somewhere I need to track down. I'll share once I actually polish something up.
Dennis Hall41 said:Aphex Twin song titles represent the absolute peak of human achievement in the realm of being stuck in a loop. Honestly, the guy looks more like he'd grab a Budweiser with his buddies than sit around reading Heidegger.
Is that somehow Western Slavic, yet Russian?
There’s actually a much more practical reason for naming things like that. It’s usually just how things start out—working titles that stick because nobody feels like overthinking the final name, or they just decide it doesn't really matter.
Plus, it sounds cool, at least in certain circles. I used to do the same thing back when I was producing more actively. Then life happens—career, wife, kid—but I don't mind. My little one even loves it when those little lights flash here and there. 😁

Syro is heavy on glitch hop, so you're bound to find more influences like that. His wife is Russian, so maybe that's where it comes from, or maybe it's just inspired by some gear or track he was listening to at the time. Who knows.
Jason Mendoza said:It leans heavily into that film noir vibe, which I’m totally into. Bronson is a masterpiece, though Valhalla Rising is top-tier stuff too.
Casey's Last Ride
It really hits those neo-noir notes, especially with influences like Hill's The Driver and Mann's Thief.
Well, honestly shit happens, especially when you've been sitting on a decision for a while.
I’ve been going back and forth on whether to include something from Richard for a long time. I was seriously torn between SAW 1, SAW 2, Richard d. James, or Syra, but ended up pivoting to someone else entirely... But here we are today, and the choice landed on Syro, which really ties his whole career together in one awesome musical package. ⚅
Anyway, there'll be plenty more chances to feature him in the future.
It might not be his absolute essential masterpiece, but it’s easily his most playful and mature work yet. It feels like a true homecoming, especially since he built the whole thing using 138 different pieces of gear. Pretty wild._
