Giving a huge shoutout to my buddy Quarter, The Sound has been such a massive discovery for me lately. I've spun the whole album a few times this week already—it's just incredibly well put together.

Drive
To Live and Die in L.A.
Fargo, plus some other stuff by the Coen brothers

Looking at the newer stuff, Drive and Only God Forgives by Nicolas Winding Refn are pretty cool stylistically, even if they aren't perfect.

Then you've got Black Coal and Thin Ice...

As for recent releases, there's The Little Things, but I just haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

Well, you could've just thrown more candidates into the Album of the Week mix then. I didn't vote for Sade thinking it would help drive more people toward starting a new thread if things ended up in a tie.

I just had to drop this Vuco track here.

This recording is legendary on so many levels. It starts with that iconic shout Vuco, Vuco, then immediately hits you with a synth solo backed by those heavy tribal drums... We’re all soaring together into these hyper-folk heights, hands in the air, with a crowd acting like they're on steroids—just like the best old-school American glory days. The performance feels like the ultimate metal-folk fusion. You've got that kid in the white t-shirt at 1:38 and then a total Nataša Janjić moment right at 3:21. As usual, the comments on YouTube are pure gold. This whole set is a treasure trove, so I had to share it with you guys. 😁

Sade is seriously amazing (and I’m not just saying that because I suggested her 😁). Her vocals are stunning—both in tone and sheer capability—plus she’s got this effortless, mysterious charisma.

The lyrics aren't trying to be some deep metaphysical masterpiece, but they definitely aren't the cheap, shallow stuff you usually hear in mainstream pop either. She's old school. The whole band is always super inspired, and honestly, that bass and drum combo is pure gold.

She’s actually covered a Deftones track here with a darker vibe, though her original version is still a beautiful tribute in its own right... 😁

I don't know how you pulled that off. Usually, I either get nothing at all or my screen just fills up with a million characters. 😲

I just uploaded it to Postimage, copied the link, and called it a day. My W3C skills are pretty basic, but I used to work alongside developers, so I picked up a few tricks along the way.

Harold Fowler3 said:I'm jumping in too. I didn't want to vote for my own suggestion even though it's right up there with The Doors' debut. So, I split my two votes between the amazing first Doors record and A Tribe Called Quest—their classic The Low End Theory is just a masterpiece full of hits. Also, "Scenario" and Busta Rhymes' debut still feel like absolute peaks of 90s hip hop culture.

👍 It’s cool to see some folks here recognizing great hip hop, and ATCQ definitely fits that bill. Total legends. It was honestly tough deciding which album to pick. I wasn't expecting this one to win since hip hop and jazz rarely get much love here, so I put it down as a backup for those bonus rounds where we get to pick an album that hasn't been chosen yet.

Anyway, it's been another solid week with plenty of killer candidates. I can't vote for everyone, so I just went with whatever I'm actually itching to listen to next week.

Casey Flores I can't even begin to process this. It’s just wild. Everything is changing so fast, isn't it? Honestly, I was just sitting here thinking about how much things have shifted lately. You look back at how we used to do things, and now it feels like a completely different world. It's pretty crazy if you really stop to think about it. Anyway, what do you guys think? Is it just me, or is everyone else feeling this too?
She just lost her edge once you completely lost your way.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. The whole voting principle is solid. No need to mess with it.

Casey Flores said:Look, political elections aren't just about the President. You've got Congressional races, local stuff, everything. How was I supposed to know you were specifically talking about the Presidency?

Can we just stop this pointless arguing already?

It's because I mentioned "voting for yourself" and then kept going about how elections don't actually work that way literally. That's the core of my point. Honestly, the specific type of election doesn't even matter for the argument. Even with local preferential voting, you're still essentially voting for yourself, but getting bogged down in those tiny details just overcomplicates things unnecessarily.

Sure, we can stop. I mean, why stay in an argument you've already decided is stupid anyway?

Charles Ramos4 said:Well, you’re already doing that just by making the suggestion. Why on earth would anyone suggest an album if they aren't standing behind it? It goes without saying. I support what I post. 🤷

As for the first part of your post, you've got me totally wrong there. 😁

Since I don't really know everyone on this forum—I mean, I know some people better than others—how am I supposed to know someone's specific motivation for suggesting an album? Unless they say it explicitly, I can only guess.

We've seen it happen before. Some people think you should only suggest albums you know inside and out, while others suggest stuff they've never even heard just to get to know it better. Why not?

There have been times when people voted for their own suggestions at first, then later decided to stop voting for themselves. Or maybe it worked the other way around. I honestly couldn't say.

Plus, some people knew exactly which album would win the most votes and just handed the topic over to someone else. Otherwise, it feels like everyone is just fighting for the spotlight and wanting to be the one to start the thread every single time.

I’ve suggested albums even when there wasn't much interest or enough suggestions to go around. Even then, I didn't care if my pick won the vote. I just didn't have the extra time to sit around and write up a whole new thread anyway.

Yeah, well, they aren't exactly writing that in parliamentary terms.

Casey Flores said:You totally missed the point of my analogy. I wasn't talking about general elections where a bunch of special forces guys return the favor every four years by voting for the party that gave them those sweet $50k jobs in some tiny town out in the Midwest. I was talking about presidential races where candidates just run solely for their own interests. To me, that isn't even that immoral, but those guys are total scumbags, and voting for an album I suggested feels a bit like that. So, I’m with Charles Ramos4 on this one—my suggestion is my vote for that album, and it’s up to you all if you pick it or not.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be sneaky or start a fight about banning people from voting for their own picks. I'm just explaining why I personally would never cast a vote for an album I put on the table.

I am also referring to those presidential elections I mentioned earlier when I said "when they just vote for themselves."

Steven Newman50 said:What’s so bad about the movie? ☕

It wasn't really about the movie. I meant more like this whole blatant attempt to steer people toward that other topic—you know, basically pushing everyone to just go along with the crowd, or "conformism." It’s kind of funny how life works, though, since there actually happens to be a movie titled 'The Conformist.'

Maybe I totally missed the mark on your irony there. I wasn't 100% sure, so figured I'd clear things up just in case. 😁

Mark Cruz15 said:There are way too many people hanging out here anyway. Someone should head over there instead.

Haha, and if you click that, a movie titled 'conformist' pops up. Nice try though. ☕ 😁
