Brenda Green62 said:Maybe try cleaning up the opening post a little bit. What even is this? A chat room? What’s the topic? What’s the point?
Anyway, welcome to the Off-Topic lounge, folks. 👍
I could go on about why I was basically kicked out of the other board for calling out the mods and some other user, but honestly, why bother?
There’s a thread over on the main forum where they're bringing him up again, but I really don't feel like typing his name because I don't need him coming after us for the third time, filing reports and trying to lobby the admins to get us banned.
Basically, this thread is just for the longtime forum buddies to hang out and vent a little about life. Nothing heavy. It's like Seinfeld, except without any of the actual humor, since ironranger67 is hanging out here. 😬
It's really not that deep. We aren't exactly committing some massive crime; we're just cluttering up the chats because they don't actually belong in this specific subforum
Nobody’s actually killing anyone here. Just hit up a PDF search But alright, whatever. I wasn't even talking about the mods Third time's the charm, I guess
I think this might be my second or third time actually reporting someone in all my seven years on this forum. I just flagged Gustisok because he basically celebrated what looks like a politically motivated killing of a guy who was an outspoken Trump supporter. To paraphrase his sentiment, Gustisok essentially said, "Great, one less to deal with."
Now, I’ll give credit where it's due—the mods were fast, but if you ask me, they weren't exactly effective. As far as I can tell, Gustisok still has his blue status. And let's not forget, he’s got this little habit of calling anyone who disagrees with him a complete idiot.
So, here we are, describing what could potentially be a Jupiter situation. For the sake of this little grievance, I guess I have to play the part of the sacrificial lamb. A while back, I actually got slapped with 300 penalty points for suggesting that people who backed Zavadlav are now out there protesting over Floyd. Look, the specifics of my defense aren't really relevant here, but let's just say I had to work pretty hard to argue my way out of that one just to get the strike removed from my record.
It's funny when you look at the math: I get hit with 300 points for making a statement that follows a certain logical progression, yet someone celebrating the murder of a political opponent gets nothing more than a deleted post and maybe a warning that doesn't even come close to a ban. My comment was labeled as a heavy ad hominem attack against everyone grieving over Floyd's death (myself included), while cheering for the assassination of political rivals (again, myself included) clearly isn't worth a ban in the eyes of the moderation team.
When you see stuff like this, you really have to wonder if the whole system is just a joke.
Instead of actually opening up some new positions, they’re just... I honestly have this nagging gut feeling we're headed for some more nonsense in about three weeks. 🤦
Quote 😁
Hey you, what's the word? 😁
I'm basically running an ad for my essay writing services now 🤣
Me too. You're heading back there around then, right?
Joshua Baker77 said:Yeah, we’re in the same boat... We’ve got alarms going off every hour like clockwork. For instance, I’ll have one every 24 hours, my wife gets hers every 1, and then I’m hitting mine every 2... if the fever starts creeping toward that danger zone, we scale it back to every half hour. By the end of the night, we’re both basically being blasted by each other's alarms anyway, so you might as well just stay awake 😁
At this rate, my wife isn't even sleeping at all 😬
Drew Ross2 said:it's not 😁 but let’s be real, half the time in these competitions, the winner isn't actually the best; it’s just whoever has the most likable story or someone who’s been grinding away at their craft for years and finally gets their due. It’s kind of like when Leo di caprio snagged an Oscar for one of the most pointless movies ever made, but hey, maybe they gave it to him just because they felt bad for how much he’d been getting roasted for years. 😁
Also, it's a total fact that Wiki constantly tries to play dumb the second anyone catches them acting like a know-it-all. I'll admit, I used to fall for those same tired lines of theirs back in the day. 🕺
Drew Ross2 said:Look, he’s an underdog now because he messed around with those clones😁 even if he actually managed to write a freaking masterpiece, his chances of winning at this point are basically zero.😁
I mean, you’re honestly being even more ruthless than I am.🤣
But let’s be real, based on pure quality alone, he deserved the win.🤔
P.S. Honestly, nobody’s actually being directly threatened by Zachary here. The guy’s all muscle and he’s clearly been playing the long game for a while now—buying a rifle, practicing his aim, and all that. He hasn't even bothered reporting any extortion to the cops, probably because he doesn't want to deal with the disappointment of seeing if the system actually works or not. Besides, just a little while before his little crusade, the local police in an area like Orlando managed to bust two extortionists who were making up fake debts to target people, which was all over the news. So, yeah, regarding his "direct threat" status...
I know it’s off-topic, but you totally caught me on a technicality there.
Look, you’ve got it wrong. I never said everyone who condemns Floyd's death was out there backing Zachary. I can't recall the exact wording I used, but I definitely used some kind of term to distinguish the two. What I’m actually getting at is this: if you were all for "cleaning up society" by supporting the premeditated execution of three criminals, then you can't turn around and use that same logic to justify what happened to Floyd as just another way to purge criminals from the streets. Especially since Floyd had a much heavier rap sheet than those three guys in Orlando. It’s wild how the same people who were cheering for the deaths of three men back then are now acting all shocked and outraged over one death—and even that one might not have been intentional.
Like I already said, if you can't see my point and just want to label me a troll to dock me 300 points, there's nothing I can do about that. But if I am going to lose them, I want it to be because of the actual argument I made, not because of the things you're trying to pin on me. I'm saying this so we can move on, because apparently, drawing a straight line between two logical points is too much to ask for here. Just so we're clear, I'm the first person to condemn the absolute garbage behavior regarding Floyd.
Look, if I’m trolling, then I’m just trolling at the exact same level as everyone else here who either agrees with me or doesn't. I haven't seen anyone on this forum getting all worked up over my posts, really. Even with this controversial one, nobody’s actually replied and I wasn't even trying to force the issue. It was just a straight-up observation. That post wasn't meant to be my personal manifesto; it was just a logical follow-up for the people who were backing Zachary back then but are suddenly out here condemning the police now. You know perfectly well that when it came to the whole Zachary situation, I was dead set against that way of handling things. At the same time, I'm not exactly a fan of the police going around killing people for no reason or acting like they're some kind of vigilantes. I honestly thought my position was pretty obvious from the post, but if it wasn't, well, there it is—clarified. If you still want to insist this is all just worth 300 points, then honestly, what am I supposed to do about that?
I’m honestly kind of looking to vent about this warning I caught from Kevin over on that thread about the riots in America. Basically, I was pointing out how the exact same crowd that was cheering on Zachary back in the day is now suddenly all about criticizing the police for Floyd's death. I went down a bit of a hypothetical rabbit hole, suggesting that if you're okay with people being killed when they're convicted criminals, then logically, you're fine with it happening to criminals today too. I didn't put it quite that bluntly, but the admin definitely caught the drift of what I was getting at.
Then, just a couple of days ago, the same mod slapped me with another little 5-point warning, apparently for "low activity" or something? I have no clue why, because I haven't even been posting anything inflammatory lately. I mean, sure, you could take my previous comment the wrong way, but my intention wasn't to start a massive flame war—I was just trying to highlight some glaring inconsistencies in how people fight "the system."
Anyway, here’s hoping we can clear up this whole misunderstanding.
