Honestly, it’s neither good nor bad, it just is. It’s just the only decent, honorable thing left to do once you finally realize you were dead wrong about everything.
It’s been a minute since I pulled that partial from the soccer PDF, which honestly gave me some much-needed headspace to sit back and actually reflect on how I was acting back then. So, I figured I should probably offer a sincere apology to the mods from that era for the stuff I was posting—specifically regarding all that cloning nonsense and my behavior over in the WNBA threads. While I'm at it, I also want to apologize to the mods who had the misfortune of dealing with my constant appeals. Just so we’re clear, I’m not here asking for anyone to lift the partial; this is just a public admission that I was definitely in the wrong about certain things, and just because I disagreed with someone's take didn't give me a free pass to go absolutely feral on the PDF.
I don't think I was trying to be an asshole to anyone (at least not intentionally), but if I did cross the line, my bad.
Honestly, this was even worse than the movie I really wasn't out here expecting anything groundbreaking, but somehow, it still managed to let me down completely.
Look, I know the whole deal, but I’ve never actually gone out on a limb to support that practice in any of my posts before What I’m talking about is a blanket ban for EVERYONE
If the moderators decide that your specific claim violates their policy, then hey, I don't have a problem with that. I might not personally agree with it, but I’ll follow it just like any other rule laid out in that PDF
I’ve gotta say, that message from the moderator caught me a little off guard If this was coming from one of those hardcore right-wing conservatives, I probably wouldn't have even given it a second thought
So, I see that the moderator lonebadger6, who I usually have a massive amount of respect for, decided to drop this warning on the thread titled "should the US ban the burqa" over on the Close Politics PDF
I’m feeling a little bit lost here, if I'm being honest.
... basically, they wear them if they themselves are radicalized, or perhaps because they grew up in a radicalized society and don't know anything else ...
Look, I'll admit I might have taken that specific sentence—or at least a chunk of it—slightly out of context, but where exactly is a moderator getting the data to suggest that every single Muslim woman wearing certain coverings is either a radical or just playing along? It's like we're implying they're all either under some kind of intense physical or psychological coercion, or they're potential terrorists.
I’m just looking for a little clarification on why that warning was issued. That's really all I'm after.
Sorry for hijacking someone else's thread here, but I figured it was better than starting yet another redundant one from scratch
So, basically, my post on the last page of that immigration discussion got nuked earlier today, and honestly, I’d really love to know what the deal was. I'm just trying to figure out where the line is so I don't end up posting something similar tomorrow and getting slapped with a warning or a ban
William Bennett53, I think we might have had a bit of a misunderstanding here Facer is out here whining that anyone who actually likes Prometheus is being suppressed, and they're even pointing the finger at briskhound2 for it The rest of us? We aren't trying to start anything, we just want to show that's not really how things work. Nothing more, nothing less
Nobody bothered to report him because, honestly, nobody gives a damn anyway. It was just my way of showing how the "oppressed" crowd on this topic actually talks. For instance, briskhound2 has probably nuked more of my posts than he's actually left up, and yet here I am, labeled as one of the "haters." Whatever, man, it’s not that deep.
Morgan Rodriguez57 said:If you can even recall, the forum mods used to get swapped out once they overstepped, and then everyone would just revolt. ☕
Well, one group replaces the other, and now people are just bitching about the current crew more than they ever did about the old ones.
I honestly feel like we’re just stuck in this endless loop where it won't be long before everyone starts throwing shade at the new guys and demanding yet another complete overhaul of the management team.
And let's be real, most of us users are kind of responsible for our own mess here. Not too long ago, some guy named Anton started a solid thread about cutting down on all the political spam. The discussion actually started off pretty decent, but then inevitably, a few people had to jump in and start whining about their warnings right there in the middle of the debate. I recently tried to kick off my own thread aimed at making the community vibes a little less toxic and more respectful, but again, certain people just had to come in and absolutely wreck the conversation. In the end, I got accused of playing lawyer, even though I was just trying my hardest to clarify my original point. But yeah, no luck there—too many trolls just looking to derail everything.
Look, I already laid it all out in my intro post, so here I am just pulling out the core points while skipping over the repetitive explanations.
Has the time finally come for the government to actually set up an office dedicated to policing both the rights and the responsibilities of users on sites like this? Sure, legal sanctions exist on paper, but how the hell are we supposed to actually enforce them in situations like this? It might be a bit easier on Facebook since people usually use their actual names, but what about niche spaces like this forum?
P.s. Don't worry, I'm not personally dealing with any drama. I'm just theorizing about the kind of problems people run into.🤷
