Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
So, what's even the point of using Google?

Here's a link in English, maybe you can actually find something useful there.
Try putting a little more effort into that rating 🙂

Or maybe this

You might stumble onto some helpful info here too

Hey, maybe I can help you out here, Daniel Sullivan36 😉

I guess this probably won't work on those Windows 7 Home editions, just the Professional or Ultimate versions and stuff.

You totally can. Just double-click the ZIP file and pick "Extract here" from the menu (it's right under the menu bar).
Or you could just right-click the ZIP file and hit Extract. 🙂

I guess the search on Windows 7 works fine for me. I’ve got hundreds of thousands of files, but I haven't really had trouble finding anything—photos, music, PDFs, or docs. Sometimes I just use the Start menu, or maybe I'll head straight to a specific drive or folder through File Explorer.
Basically, it usually finds what I'm looking for pretty fast. But hey, if that doesn't work for everyone, I suppose there are plenty of other ways to go about it. 🙂

Daniel Bailey6 said:Man, I just downloaded this 48MB driver and now it's acting like I need to register for WinZip or something.
WHAT THE HELL!??! 😠

You're probably using an unregistered version of WinZip, so it's nagging you to sign up. Might be best to just uninstall it. Windows 7 actually has a built-in tool for Zips, so you can just use that.
Or maybe grab WinRAR? It does basically the same thing as WinZip, though the TRIAL lasts forever. 🙂
Once those 30 days are up, it'll just tell you the TRIAL period is over. 🙂

please, cut out the stupid comments!

Aloooo, man!
First off, the comment wasn't stupid.
Second, you should probably check the Forum Rules. ☕

Maybe take a look at a few posts back where the moderator "Benjamin King2" gives warnings, if you haven't already checked the Forum Rules.

p.s. I'm definitely not some computer expert... 🙂

Maybe just pick up a licensed version of Windows 🤣

I mean, should I go with a KMS or a MAK key?

I'm talking about using legitimate (original) Windows 7, so I'm just not sure whether to install via MAK or KMS.

I found this helpful video that breaks down the difference between MAK and KMS activation.

MAK is meant for individual machines, while KMS is usually for systems with about 25 networked computers.🙂

Maybe it's an academic version of Windows, so it might have a MAK (multi-activation key) 🙂 Though I'm leaning more towards it being a pirated version 😁

Zachary Lopez24 said:Hey, I've got a bit of a problem and was wondering if anyone had some smart advice. All my desktop icons look exactly the same—just the same icon over and over. Everything still opens, but nothing acts right, I guess (not really a tech guy myself). I'm on Windows 7, and everything was fine at first, but then it just started acting up out of nowhere. Anyone have any ideas?😕😕😕😕:conf used:😕

Honestly, this sounds like you might have picked up a Trojan or some kind of virus. My suggestion would be to run a scan with something like Malwarebytes.
If that doesn't fix it, maybe try a system restore to a date when things were actually working properly🙂

I guess you could probably just use a Windows 7 disc, then pick the Recovery option at the start and run FixBoot or something like that 😉

Here's a step-by-step guide with pictures 🙂

It doesn't even show up when I search for devices.

It’s kind of weird that it’s not showing up in the device list at all.

Maybe try using the HP Softpaq download manager? You could just grab that and let it hunt down whatever drivers your laptop actually needs.

Or maybe this is even better:

maybe give this a shot:
RUN ctfmon.exe

Just right-click on Taskbar - Toolbars - Language bar and check that box. 🙂

ironcrane62 said:Hey, does anyone know where I can grab the American language pack for Windows 7?

If you're running Ultimate, maybe just check under Windows Update.

Taylor Campbell4 said:Not really working for me. It asks for a restart at the end of the uninstall, but once I reboot, Windows won't even start—I just get stuck in startup repair. And even after it fixes itself, Acronis is still there.
Plus, I can't actually run the Acronis software anymore, even with compatibility mode, though I installed it ages ago just to resize my partitions.

Anyone else know how to actually get rid of Acronis disk Director?

Maybe try this.
Run the installer again, and when it starts up, it should give you the option to either Repair or Uninstall. Just pick Uninstall.
I guess that's how it usually works. 😕

Taylor Campbell4 said:I'm trying to upgrade from RC to RTM, or at least attempting to.
Acronis Disk Director and Nero are blocking the whole thing. I barely managed to get Nero off there, but Acronis just won't budge. Every time I restart—which is required after an uninstall—Windows fails to boot up. I've been stuck doing system restores or using Last Known Good Configuration because I was worried my OS was totally toast. It kept throwing all sorts of errors during that startup recovery phase, even saying stuff like "Patch is preventing windows from starting," if that's even the right way to put it. This happened about ten times last night; I'd uninstall Nero, then Acronis would pop back up, then I'd try to kill Acronis and Nero would reappear, and so on.

Anyone know a fix?
Right now, I just need to get rid of Acronis. Is there some kind of specialized tool for this?

Maybe give Z-Soft Uninstaller a shot, might help (Free software)

driftingbear10 said:Firefox. Just hanging out here for now, haven't really posted much yet since I've been pretty busy.

That's probably because you're on Firefox; Internet Explorer doesn't really have that feature.

You can turn it off like this: Tools - Options - Advanced - Search text as you type (it's one of those top two options). 🙂
This is what that looks like in the American version of Firefox 🙂

I picked up a new laptop today running Windows 10. Since I'm still getting the hang of things, I can't figure out how to fix this 🙈 thing where everything gets underlined while I type—like right now with this post. It keeps trying to autocorrect me, which is annoying. How do I turn that off? 😁 thanks

Where exactly is it underlining stuff while you type? (like, in which apps?)
Are you using Google Chrome or Firefox?
