There's a more detailed description over here: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-p...hz-48-cores-lp

The main issue is the card height, since this case is only 10cm tall. He'll have to hunt down a card that actually fits those dimensions.

ironhawk3 said:That's a fair question. I'm down to grab whatever works best (quietly, too). What would you suggest considering my overclocked CPU, a single SSD, 2x 4GB RAM (1600), and what kind of GPU should I look for? I'll be working with heavy textures, so it doesn't necessarily have to be the fastest option—I'd actually prefer an AMD card over Nvidia.

You really need Nvidia if you want to use CUDA cores.
Personally, I'd go with something slightly beefier for the overclocking side.

Larry Ortiz5 said:I'm not sure how much more I need to add, but I really need someone to get back to me. My monitor is running at 1680x1050 and I'm getting maybe 30-40fps in Far Cry 3, but once I turn on 8x AAA, it drops to a miserable 18-19. Thinking about all the games coming out in 2013, there's no way I'll be able to run them on decent settings..

Just check out the Far Cry 3 benchmarks here

it looks like this game just isn't fully utilizing your graphics card

Larry Ortiz5 said:Do you think it's enough, or should I go for an overkill power supply? I'd sell this one and put some extra cash toward it, but nothing's set in stone yet. I'm mainly wondering if I can even get it installed first, since like I mentioned, my budget for a new PSU is pretty tight right now...

It depends on how much extra you need for the PSU. If you have to add more than $167 and you're running a monitor smaller than 1440p, then this upgrade isn't really worth it.

Larry Ortiz5 said:I might have a chance to pick up a GTX 1060, but I'm worried about my power supply. It feels like I'd be cutting it way too close, and honestly, I don't have an extra $100 lying around to upgrade the PSU right now. I'm running a Corsair CX 500 V2-80 Plus. I did some digging online, and since my current card (the 6950) pulls about 200W, this one would just add another 44W to the load...

As long as you aren't overclocking, the power supply should be fine. I'm just curious what your plans are for the 6950.

Personally, I'm not a fan of certain specs on this board. Since you clearly know so much, why don't you answer the big question: WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS IN A MOTHERBOARD? I've seen plenty of people asking about it, but I haven't seen a single solid answer yet.

Just trolling at this point.

Go with the AMD Radeon HD 7850; if you ask me, it's easily the best option in that range right now.

Grab a 27" monitor and you can actually run those new games on your GT 9800 512 ??

Does it really matter if it's true? We should still verify it.

Andrew Fox74 said:Alright, can someone suggest something from this link for $333 max? This one was $890, and I’d probably throw another $333 on top of it. The rest of my rig is an i7 OC and a 6850 OC, and I'm planning to grab a second 6850 soon for crossfire.

You won't find anything better for that price.

Even $600 was looking for this, and honestly, this is the best 7850 you can get—besides, the 660 is only about 10 percent better anyway.

Robin Hernandez9 said:Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out if I should go with an Nvidia or an AMD graphics card—which one is actually worth the money right now? I’m looking to pick up something in the $600 range, but I'm just not sure which model to choose.

http://www.bestbuy.com/product_info.php?c...d369fb7996f0e2 For that price point, I'd personally grab this one because the cooling system is top-notch.

Eric Nguyen said:Thanks, I think I'll give it a shot anyway!
I was just wondering if those games would run on it, though I mostly stick to Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Mafia, and stuff like that.
I'll test it out, and if it works well, I'm buying it. 🙂
Anyway, thanks everyone for the help!

If you're planning on playing BF3 or even Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, you can forget about that card.
The only decent thing to find on Craigslist is 68 miles and even then, it's pretty basic.
