ruggedjackal46 said:It’s pretty obvious you haven't actually watched the music video for that "ultra-religious" track. 😁
I mean, one of the main guys in it is this Indian guy who looks just like John Travolta—take three guesses as to why.

Now you’re over here dragging my name through the mud too. I never actually called that song "ultra-religious," I was talking about Muslims and how extremely religious they are in that other post I made!!! I didn't even bring up that specific song in that thread!! So please, stop twisting my words and don't post such nonsense.
Regarding the song itself, all I said was that it sounds Muslim and Middle Eastern. Honestly, I'm starting to wonder if we're even talking about the same thing.
ruggedjackal46, look, I don't go around hating on anyone, but if I had to pick the most difficult group to deal with, it would definitely be those ultra-religious Muslims because of how extreme their fanaticism can get. I think there are plenty of people out there who might celebrate Eid or feel a connection to their heritage, but they aren't hitting up the mosque every single day, they aren't fanatics, and they aren't out there glorifying Jihad and all that stuff.
I have two female friends and one guy in my circle whose fathers are Muslim, yet none of them are religious or primitive in any way; they are just totally normal, grounded people.
Then you have this one guy from my school who is a hardcore Muslim, he's at the mosque every Saturday, he has entire pages of the Quran memorized, he's constantly speaking Arabic, and he won't stop preaching about Islam and Jihad and all that nonsense.
As for whether certain types of Islamic music are inappropriate for this part of the country... honestly, let's not even go there because it's just not worth the argument.
driftingeagle27 said:I actually have a suggestion for what they should play at your school, specifically tailored just for you.
Gaudeamus igitur, juvenes dum sumus.
What good is a celebration if I don't even have any hummus?

Personally, I prefer to listen to my music at home, and I have never once requested that anyone play the stuff I enjoy because that music is meant for my own ears and maybe a few people with similar tastes, but it’s definitely for my soul and not for a school setting.
My only real issue is that I don't want to be forced to listen to foreign genre music that doesn't really belong in an American high school, neither that nor anything overly commercialized, though I certainly don't have a problem with standard pop or rock.
Honestly, the best solution would probably be for them not to play anything at all.
Edward Robinson6 said:I have to admit that I occasionally find myself getting caught up in those heavy, aggressive sounds too, almost like they’re hitting me right in the gut.👍 To be honest, nothing else really hits that level of cringe for me quite like those Black gospel choirs where you have nuns performing on stage. It’s just honestly gross.

😲 I honestly can't wrap my head around how you could even think to do something like that. 😲 🙄
I’ve never really been able to get into gospel music myself, and I think I know why. Back when those two gospel singers joined Jennifer Lopez on tour, they actually ended up throwing off the whole vibe of her songs. 😁 It really doesn't matter what we talk about, but I was just sitting here wondering what would happen if they actually started playing gospel music in public schools. Honestly, wouldn't that be incredibly awkward and just totally out of place?
Honestly, I think we should just scrap music programs in schools entirely and call it a day.
Brandon Castillo4~ said:it would be totally IDIOTIC and INFANTILE to play something like Immortal or Dark Funeral(😁)

I definitely agree with you there. But honestly, it’s just as foolish to blast music that sounds like pure screaming and chaos (I’m not even sure if that’s the specific track you guys are talking about).

If they’re going to insist on playing music at school—which is pretty silly if you ask me—then they should probably stick to something "neutral" that won't offend anyone's ears.
I’m pretty certain nobody raised an eyebrow when they played the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jennifer Lopez, or Williams and stuff like that.
rapidbadger45 said:I’m also wondering where Nikolaj is when it comes to defending the Gothic scene...

And why on earth would he feel the need to defend me? I’m just over here having perfectly fine conversations with people who have different perspectives, and I don't really require any lawyers to back me up.
Drito Konj said:Look, you’ve been kicked off every single active subforum because you basically just act like a jerk everywhere you go. You get to the US and complain about how much life sucks, then you get to college and claim sex is terrible and you've never even seen anything, and I think people actually treated you pretty harshly back in your philosophy classes. Then when it comes to music, you start topics where you aren't just trashing the artists' style, but you're attacking entire cultures, religions, and everything else too. Honestly, don't you feel any shame?
Is your mom still keeping you grounded? Man, you're pathetic... if I had any connection to you, I would have taken you out a long time ago... I was the kind of kid who used to throw spitballs at people just to hit them right where it hurts. 😁

Hahaha! That actually gave me a good laugh. Kicked off? Sometimes I just remember my own rule: "Why bother arguing with idiots?" and I just walk away myself.
Regarding the US—I might complain about being stuck in a rut, but even then, smart guys like you just start talking trash for no reason.
As for college—I never actually said sex was terrible, so you're just making things up again... I was talking about other stuff entirely.
Philosophy—I don't recall being treated poorly there; we actually got along quite well.
And if we are discussing certain genres of music, naturally the conversation will drift into religion and politics eventually, because unfortunately, some music is an expression of exactly those things.
As for why I stayed up late, it was simply because I went to bed too late one night.
Right... you'd kill people like that and pelt them with spitballs, assuming they didn't just dodge you and hit you right back, wouldn't they?
anch_io said:That kid isn't just being obnoxious and fake, they also seem to have absolutely no moral compass left... it’s just the perfect Republican generation... honestly, I can't help but wonder what they did to you when you started school back in the early nineties. 😢

np. Husker Du - What's Going On Inside My Head

And you have no idea how ridiculous you sound trying to link these things to the Republican Party. God help us!
And in what way am I supposed to be stupid or conceited? Just because I don't care for Islamic music and don't want to hear it being played in schools? Of course I don't want that! That Eastern culture doesn't belong here. Or rather, it shouldn't, but unfortunately, it's seeing a massive rise in this country right now.
Sean Miller78 said:You’re just making things worse, Gottie.

It really just shows that you don't actually know much about the music scene in India.

No soup for you!! © by the Soup Nazi

I never even claimed to be an expert on Indian music, so I'm not sure why we're going there. There is plenty of Indian music out there that I enjoy, and plenty that I don't, just like anything else.

No Soup...No thanks..No hunger
Rachel Jones11 said:Look, it finally clicked for someone that the music this girl finds so irritating actually comes from India... does that make you lose your appetite for Indians too, bitterheart?

Here is a link that explains exactly what this gentleman is talking about and how it all works:

Regardless of where it originates, it's bad music, period.
And thanks, but I really couldn't care less about what this guy is doing. Besides, who's to say we're even talking about the same thing? We've already played three different Muslim tracks.
Sean Miller78 said:People would probably be talking about something else entirely—especially R&B 😛—if you could just realize how much of an oversight your comment regarding Indian music actually was.

What do you mean by Indian? That stuff was actually Muslim. As far as actual Indian music goes, I’m really into things like Krishna Vision or those New Age tracks with those specific vibes.
But I’m just not into that whole "Allah" style of music.
mistypanther said:I'm not being hateful, but the way you talk is honestly making me nauseous... Ryan Ruiz, it's just disgusting...

The way I speak is definitely more grounded than yours, considering your entire vocabulary seems limited to nothing but mindless filth, right? I have to wonder if you actually know how to discuss anything else of substance, man.
Drew Sanders7 said:Man, you actually said you weren't coming back... we were all holding out hope.😕

...on a side note, I've got this CD stuck in my school's player that's just a mix of A. d. f, The Pogues, Rammstein, and Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. Honestly, I'll take it over silence any day.

As for you, I’d probably have to drag you by the arm to the principal's office and then straight to summer school. 🙄

Good grief, I really shouldn't even bother commenting. Such riveting conversation... talking about the principal and summer school... yeah, real deep stuff... wow, we are truly intellectuals here. 🙄

😁 😁 😁 Time just moved right past them.😁
bloody sailor moon said:It’s the exact same thing every single day. First they play "Because the Night," then it’s inevitably some country anthem like Garth Brooks 🙂, and then maybe they'll throw on some P!nk or whatever else fits that specific vibe... honestly, it's just awful. It makes me physically sick.

And what makes it even worse is how much everyone else seems to love it... naturally, I'm the only one who doesn't. 🤮

Yeah, well, a good amount of us don't get into it either, though we aren't the ones running the DJ booth.
P.S. This post actually has nothing to do with the main topic... it’s more about my own brand of "wickedness," which I’m pretty sure is just as intense as anything from the Kostelić family🙄..but it doesn't really matter.
Best,
Edward Robinson6 said:Ryan Ruiz is way more sinister than an edge case from the Kostelić family😁

Yeah... and that’s exactly why she has her own personal hell. She really does. It's partially my fault, too. You could call it my hamartia—this sense of guilt without actually being guilty. I love her and I hate her at the same time... but I wouldn't even be here if it weren't for her, for that flaw. It doesn't matter though... none of those words really change anything.
You guys can close this thread or just keep chatting about whatever you want... nothing else matters.
silentpuma9 said:It’s honestly great that you guys actually get to listen to music at all, because in my school, we only have one single CD player in one classroom and they won't even let us use it...
My friend and I actually got reprimanded just for playing some In Flames during our break...
I can't believe how ridiculous that is...
😠

It isn't really that great, though, if you ask me. Playing In Flames, haha... the teachers must have completely lost their minds, right?
Rachel Jones11 said:It looks like the girl is pretty disgusted by both Muslims and people from the West Coast... haha.

Stupidity Muslić 👎 I'll be honest, I’ve never really been a fan of Muslić, but we aren't talking about religion right now.

When it comes to music, I have a very firm stance on this, and I’m prepared to defend it: I really don't think that traditional folk styles with those specific Middle Eastern influences hold much water.

Honestly, I just can't stand anyone right now. When it comes to those artists I mentioned before—like Gibbon or Oliver—I don't really listen to them, though they aren't exactly the kind of music you'd want playing during school breaks either. For stuff like that, it’s much better to go with bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers or similar groups that feel more "neutral." You can actually listen to them without it being a whole thing.

2. The Sisters of Mercy

🙏 God bless you, my friend!

When I was 16 😁 : The Sisters of Mercy, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Paradise Lost, and Dead Can Dance... though honestly, I've been into all of them since I was 11 or 13, if you can even call that being a teenager since I'm one of the younger ones here.
