What's even the point... honestly? There are way too many people like that in Chicago... just skip it... total coma... who could actually enjoy that? Only masochists...
Big Calm is alright, just a bit too laid back... I’d rather listen to Who Can You Trust... they’ve got that darker edge... don't really care for the rest of them... yeah, they played at Lollapalooza last summer... what kind of pop is that even... some indie garage band playing nearby was way more interesting and loud than them... what a joke... that’s the kind of stuff you play in your living room, not go to a concert for... oh man... total waste.
So... does anyone happen to have a first pressing of Electric Orgasm sitting around? Or maybe you know where I can pick one up in New York City? The one I grabbed back in NYC still works, though only if you hit the sweet spot in the middle. It’s all glowy because it spent way too much time sitting out in the sun near the porch... it's a rare masterpiece, honestly...🙏 essential for understanding how that whole flirting thing works...
And what does this have to do with the thread? Well, the new wave scene... those guys were recording in NYC back in the 80s😉 not sure if they even mentioned it in the documentary

ruggedmarlin15 I have no idea who didn't get enough...😁 aaa... ever heard of using singular pronouns? 👋
Honestly, that had nothing to do with the New Wave era—it was just standard pop music. Nothing more, nothing less. That whole movement probably wrapped up around '85, and then, like every other wave, it just lost its edge. I don't really get why you're bringing those things up in this context... 😕

But if you look at it this way—if "My Home," "I Remember Our First Kiss," and "Heart on the Road" are each worth about four great songs—then "Sun Shines!" ends up having 12 great tracks and 7 really good ones. 😁

can't believe anyone is still listening to "I Remember Our First Kiss" 😁 😂 or "Heart on the Road, my heart stayed there"... I only sing that stuff when I'm messing around 😁 😁 why'd you say that, wrong... you didn't actually listen to that much when they played it on the radio, did you? but hey, they were just two-month pop hits anyway...
Yeah, that was it. Stulic used to just play ballads and cover the Beatles back in the day, so hearing this recording sounded like straight-up hard rock to me. I always wondered why... But it made sense once I realized he mentioned filming in Utrecht so Stulic could get near a river, even though they didn't mention him at all in the trailers..😁 Hahaha, everyone was just blown away by that raw punk energy. It’s like how Joe Strummer decided to chop off his long hair and ditch that whole post-hippie look right after seeing the Sex Pistols live.. then went off to start a punk band. To me, that whole story about the Chicago scene is great.. Chicago in the 80s.. before I said "no thanks" and headed off to daycare to breathe in that gray Chicago smog... Gonna go watch it now!
Morgan Cook10 said:Sure, sounds great on paper... except prices in Austria are consistently 50% higher than ours... sometimes even double or triple for certain things.
A couple of people with similar degrees can make 10k--$4000 which is basically the equivalent of $18,000-$20,000 in Austria ($2,500-$2,600 USD). You can live pretty well on that, especially if you already own your house or apartment and don't have housing costs.
Maybe living in Austria makes sense if you were born there, but moving is a nightmare... it just doesn't add up. Why move to a foreign country and spend your whole life feeling like an outsider just for an extra $1,000?
Cost of living is higher, yeah, but otherwise stuff is cheaper in Austria... aside from bread and milk.😉
Meat is about the same, Coca-Cola is cheaper... cars are the same or cheaper, computers are cheaper... the standard of living is higher and service costs are way more, but when it comes to buying goods... America is more expensive. Even back home, my grandma buys Bavarian butter because it's cheaper than what we have here. Imagine how much cheaper it is in Bavaria... 😁 And that's with higher wages. Remember, the Big Mac Index.
As for the equivalent—so you get $12k$0.00 if you have an economics degree? Yeah, good luck finding that in America.
Sorry, but America is still lagging far behind... exceptions like tech jobs exist, but they aren't the norm.
Since we’re already talking about the EU, the Big Mac Index, and that article from Austria... what does that index actually show regarding the standard of living there? Like, how do you survive on a degree, for instance?
Over there, if you have a college degree, you're looking at a starting salary of at least $2,000, often much higher—especially in tech. You see young couples where both partners earn enough that they can easily set aside an entire paycheck every month and just live off the other one.
So, they end up with maybe $25,000 in pure savings per year, just living a normal life. Most people in my circle are like that... it really makes you think about whether moving abroad is worth it. I'll let you all draw your own conclusions.
That’s just a quick example of how a country like that actually functions...
It's not even that dangerous... you're mostly just overworking your system. But when you're young and healthy? Anything goes. 😉 You've got all this energy to burn through, and it just disappears before you know it...
