Save those pirate stories for someone else—we want the real dirt on how the captain absolutely wrecked Pilatus in the lower decks. Tell us how he left him covered in white lime.

Adam Edwards4 said:So, I’m not really a regular on the forums or anything, but since I just recently started getting into Formula 1, I figured I’d jump in here with a question. From what I've gathered so far, an undercut is when you pit early to try and leapfrog someone, while an overcut is more about letting the rival go first to gain an advantage later. Is that actually how it works? And specifically, why do teams pull these moves—is it always a direct response to the car ahead pitting, or is there more to the strategy than that? A little breakdown would be awesome if anyone has the time! 👍 Not sure if this is the right thread for it, but I wasn't exactly sure where else to look.

It all depends on the current rulebook. Nowadays, since they don't refuel during the race, pitting early is usually the move. But back in the day—like the 1994-2009 era—it actually paid off to stay out longer, driving a lighter car for a couple more laps while your rival was struggling with a heavy, freshly refueled tank.

Everything in NASCAR is dictated by the rules—rules that shift almost every single season.

There was that weird 2005 season where you could refuel but weren't allowed to change tires. Back then, forget about undercuts—it was strictly a game of who could stay out the longest.

NASCAR isn't like football, where the rules stay the same for centuries and you can just ask what a corner or an offside is.

NASCAR is its own thing that evolves year after year. It doesn't really play by anyone else's book. Take football—it's the same everywhere in the world. The rules apply no matter which league you're playing in.

NASCAR has its own unique set of rules that might—or might not—align with other racing sports.

mellowtiger83 said:If Formula 1 handed out points for qualifying like they do in the Indy 500, even Ayrton Senna would be at least a seven-time world champion. But apparently, driving right on the absolute edge isn't what they define as "driver quality" in F1. Instead, the points go to whoever manages their fuel, tires and wheels, and brakes most efficiently. Interesting, really. I don't recall the word "racing" ever being synonymous with those three tedious technicalities.

Come on, please—tell me exactly which seasons an extra point for the Democratic Party win would have netted Senna four more championships. Which ones precisely?

Are you actually hearing yourself right now!? For God's sake.
Presidential Decree in Formula 1 ·
Yeah, I’m the almighty President of everything. Consider this my official command—and my polite request—to everyone in the F1 sub: from here on out, things are changing.

1) You guys need to start acting like decent humans and actually get along. You're breathing today, but who knows about tomorrow? Life's way too short to spend it bickering with your own kind.

2) Show some respect to Hamlet. He’s just a guy (mostly) doing his job. Just like you wouldn't mock someone with a disability on the street, don't go mocking the moderators. Any more insults toward Hamlet will result in a permanent ban from the sub.

3) The Paddock needs to be locked down immediately. Permanently. For all eternity.

4) This thread is going to serve as a temporary chat room—at least until we're ready to launch a new Paddock.

5) Only I get to decide when the conditions are right to reopen the Paddock.

Honestly, that’s not even the biggest shocker here. 😁
What’s actually wild is this...
This is officially Vettel's best start to a season in years. Aside from back in 2011 when he grabbed two wins and a second place in the first three races, everything else has been pretty mediocre. 😁

Don't forget—if Antonio Giovinazzi hadn't pulled that stupid stunt in China and caused a safety car, Vettel probably would've walked away with 3 wins in 3 races

And that's something nobody saw coming.

Mercedes-Benz still has the fastest car, but they aren't used to anyone actually breathing down their necks. Once someone starts pressing them, they clearly start tripping over themselves. It's no wonder they've just been coasting for the last 3 years. Get it? They aren't used to the pressure.

We'll see how it all plays out this season.

Mercedes and Red Bull had to alter F1 suspension designs for 2017...
Basically, both teams were pulling a fast one last season and nobody said a word. 🙄
Instead of disqualifying them from last year's standings, they just give them this little polite nudge.
"Hey guys, cheating isn't really cool. Let's play fair, at least until we catch you red-handed again." 😍

The FIA 🙄

In this sport, if you aren't cheating, you aren't competitive. Period. Everyone's doing it. Some are pros at it, some are just amateurs. Occasionally someone actually gets caught, and then the regulators just tweak the rulebook. Meanwhile, the cheaters—sorry, "competitors"—just keep right on pushing the limits, just in a different way. It’s an endless loop. Always will be. For as long as this sport exists.

Finally!!! 😁😁😁

I think we’ve all been waiting just as impatiently as I have since those tests in Miami. Some tickets are definitely booked, some are being looked at, and others—the big ones—are being held close until this year's first F1 Race Weekend kicks off.

2017 Race Weekend

Friday, March 24, 2017.
FP1: (02:30-04:00) Possible rain
FP2: (06:30-08:00) Possible rain

Saturday, March 25, 2017.
FP3: (04:00-05:00) Rain
Qualifying: (07:00-08:00) Rain

Sunday, March 26, 2017.
Race Start: (06:00) Sunny

Long-range forecasts aren't exactly reliable, but this is what the meteorologists are calling for two weeks out. Even though I love a good wet race, I'd prefer things stay dry—we need more answers than questions after this first weekend.

That first corner is usually a mess.

This was how it went down last year

Hang in there... just two more weeks.

God bless!

Around 3 PM, and apparently those ridiculous noses actually make a comeback 😵

As long as they keep feeding the diffuser clean air and the rulebook stays this half-baked—noses are gonna look exactly like this.

We all know what a perfect nose looks like. Look at the Benetton from '94 or that 2001 Williams—now that's design.

Anything else? Not even close. So, you either let them do their thing—meaning everyone gets those classic shapes back—or you keep writing these dumb rules and end up with these ridiculous things.

If they don't want the B194 style, then the FIA needs to just design a mandatory nose themselves and say, "Here—use this one or else."

And amen to that.

mellowtiger83 said:There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking Hamilton for money, nor is there anything wrong with talking to him about it. The issue is that he turns these things into absolute nonsense during interviews. Look closely—he didn't actually ask Hamilton anything. He was just bragging to Hamilton about it. It wasn't even a question; it was just plain old boasting, and of course, he didn't miss the chance to brag to Rosberg either.

An interview is meant for asking questions. Instead, he just looked foolish. Like, "Hey, I own an American karting team and I help out American drivers break through," wtf? Who exactly is he helping? I worked in American motorsports and dealt with plenty of those types of characters.

How exactly did he help people like Kordic and the others? Their parents helped them. Steiner just uses them for personal promotion and maybe throws them a few scraps. Come on, ruggedhawk20, please!

But as far as I know, Štetner DOESN'T have his own karting team. He had one until 2013, but since then—as far as I can tell—that team is long gone.

So, if he was asking Hamilton for money, he was probably looking to "help" American karting in general.

William Bennett53 said:This thread has become even more nonsensical than the Ogrestina Pyramid.

Not surprising—considering this whole thread is about Jerg. Who even is this guy? A photographer? Some random dude? A journalist?

mellowtiger83 said:Who cares about Stetner? He's a corporate hack. The real issue is that Stetner asked Hamilton those idiotic questions and then actually bragged about some American karting team. Honestly, wtf. It clearly rubbed Jergović the wrong way, and frankly, it would have been much better if Jerg had been the one asking the questions.

Right after that interview, Jerg disappears from the portal entirely.

It's a good thing the clown didn't ask Hamilton for money, because he could probably squeeze quite a bit out of him for an American karting team.🤣.

Even Rosberg didn't fare much better in that conversation. What did we actually learn about those two from those moronic interviews? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Aha

So you think it’s a bad idea to ask Hsmilton to donate a few bucks to American karting.

What's exactly wrong with that?

Did we just annoy your little pet or something?

What matters more to you (as an American)? American karting or Hamilton?

Unbelievable.

Drew Bennett68 said:So, Hamilton is the one to blame for everything...😁

Oh my god. You really latched onto the most basic, bottom-of-the-barrel post in this entire thread.

I just found out there's some association of American angels led by Davorin Štetner—and apparently nobody wants to discuss that recent, totally bizarre discovery

...instead they're all busy dissecting Hamilton's "humor." 🙄🙄🙄
Mladen Jergović - again!? in Formula 1 ·
Dude, just look up who actually owns this company, please me one favor

The owner is

"AMERICAN BUSINESS ANGEL NETWORK"

whatever the hell that’s supposed to mean!!!!
Mladen Jergović - again!? in Formula 1 ·
Basically, if he owns some random portal, he can do whatever he wants—including wiping your ass.

As long as he isn't a co-owner or part of the Kreator Grupa, he doesn't actually have any real say in things there.
Mladen Jergović - again!? in Formula 1 ·
Are you guys actually serious right now? Like, for real?

If you just check the public business registry—which is free and open to anyone, obviously—it’s crystal clear that Davorin Štetner is the sole owner of Kreator Grupa.

Mladen Jergović only owns some random FELIX DODO D.O.O. entity that's bleeding money and didn't even bother filing its 2015 financial statements.

It's all out there for everyone to see on

the official government registry site.
