Long live the new king! in Formula 1 ·
neonfox65 said:Well, he’s still second again 🤣

Yeah, but if Lewis Hamilton had stuck around at Ferrari—he would've been P1. Right? You're always claiming Lewis Hamilton is a class above Sebastian Vettel

So, if the car Sebastian Vettel is driving to a second-place finish is good enough for him, it should have been plenty for Lewis Hamilton to win

Don't you think?

graniteharbor502 said:ruggedhawk20, what's your take on Kimi Räikkönen tying with Alain Prost for most fastest laps?

I've never given a damn about stats

especially those fastest lap numbers—they're basically just a byproduct of whatever random circumstances happen during a race.

I care about how someone handles a 57-lap grind, not one lucky lap. A single fastest lap has never meant anything to me.

Besides, points should be going to the guy who grabs Pole Position or whoever spends the most laps leading the pack.

Comparing Sebastian Vettel to Michael Schumacher is honestly insulting. I’ve watched every single MS-related race, and let me tell you—MS never pulled a driving disaster quite like the one Vettel just put on. Look, Vettel is a great driver and a brilliant kid—but he isn't even a shadow of Schumacher. The only thing they have in common is standing there for the anthem after a win; that’s where the whole "new Schumacher" nonsense starts and ends.

Kimi Räikkönen drove a freaking masterclass. Absolutely stellar. Kudos to him.
stormybadger8 said:And what does that have to do with strategy?
That’s about tire degradation, not strategy...
Sebastian Vettel was actually able to nurse his tires and finish the race with just two stops, whereas the Mercedes crew knew from the jump their drivers couldn't pull that off...
If Mercedes had somehow tried a two-stop strategy, Sebastian Vettel would have left them in the dust by more than 30 seconds.☕

Given how much those tires were wearing out, Mercedes deciding to grab fresh rubber under the SC was a damn good tactical move.😉

You all remember me calling out potential chassis issues for Mercedes before the season even started. While they were cruising with a massive advantage, those flaws stayed hidden.

But the second someone actually pushes them—boom—Mercedes starts showing signs of an imperfect car.

Exactly what I've been saying forever. That car has issues. It's just that the problems only show up when they actually have to push at 100%.

And you can see it right in the tire wear. This is gonna be a massive headache for them as the season goes on.

And don't even get me started on the driver's meltdowns. Hahahaha.
stormybadger8 said:Who botched it?
Was it Petrov or someone else? 🤷

Mercedes actually had a solid strategy—if anything, the SC helped them out...
They would’ve had to pit in a lap or two, maybe five at most...
So there's zero argument about "botched" tactics here. If anything, that SC arrived right on cue.

Exactly.

Ferrari's strategy was great too. But let's be real, it wouldn't have even worked if

1) Vettel hadn't pulled off that masterclass defending 2nd place after the start
2) Vettel hadn't built that massive 10-second gap over Hamilton
3) Vettel hadn't brilliantly overtaken Rosberg
4) [Wait] Vettel didn't coincidentally lose his spot to Rosberg after that second pit stop

Get it?

Ferrari's strategy was also killer back in Abu Dhabi 2010. But for Alonso to actually make it work, he needed to

1) Overtake Petrov
2) Overtake Rosberg

He failed at both.

And that’s why Vettel’s a four-time champ today while Alonso’s stuck with two.

That's why Vettel's at Ferrari and Alonso's at McLaren.

That's why Vettel is a hero and Alonso's a clown.

Capiche?
Peter Carter6 said:I don't know, man, but if you ask me, that was a pretty gutsy thing to say—maybe even a little reckless. I mean, comparing 1984 to Monza 2008 in Formula 1? That's a hell of a stretch.🙄
Are we really going to sit here and try to compare Prost to someone like Hunt?
Hakkinen and... maybe Fangio?

Kid, you just stepped into the ring with Mike Tyson.

...

Oh, wait—never mind, looks like the ref already knocked you out.

Do it for your own good.
graniteharbor502 said:Gentlemen, let us extend our utmost respect and give it up for Sebastian 🙏
for he is now just one victory away from matching the legendary legacy of Senna 👍shall we not celebrate this monumental achievement?

Vettel leveled with Senna a long time ago—actually, he blew past him. Period.

I'm not talking about total wins—titles are what actually matter, way more important than just stacking up wins.

I'm with you on the overall vibe—what Senna... Nah. Vettel pulled it off back in Monaco '84—pure class. Yeah. Pulled it off at Monza 2008.

It was already obvious back then—Vettel was just a notch above Senna.
So, Vettel finally found his own version of Donington Park today

Personally, I always found Ralf to be the much more likable brother (which, let's face it, isn't saying much), and Cora was always quite the firebrand, wasn't she?

If that’s really the first thing that pops into your head whenever you hear the name Ralf...

—then you aren't actually watching Formula 1, you're just reading the tabloids.

Congrats, you just outed yourself.
neonfox65 said:Look, I don't care what you think—it’s just hilarious to me that you could actually root for that total garbage...🤣

Ralf was a decent driver

And a legit guy too. Not some ego-tripping tool like his teammate, the physicist

And this photo proves it perfectly

Leave Maminj alone.

darkmarlin16 is an absolute legend—he’s seriously leveled up his game on this forum lately.

I’ve got nothing but praise for Maminj.
Why are you guys coming for Hamilton? The guy's an eccentric—an eccentric with coverage.

I don't care if someone's being basic or acting all high and mighty—as long as they've got the backing. And Hamilton? He’s got double the coverage.

So honestly, I don't see the issue at all.

Meanwhile, MJ has seven different layers of coverage—and everyone sees it. It's loud and clear.
