I said total, including the cancellations. It's all over the internet—if you don't know, just Google it. 😁

So yeah, the total is right. But then why does the opening post say 1950???

Someone explain that to me.

Check this out. An F1 car compared to an actual F1 car.

And this was back in 1948. In Monaco!

jadeseal7 said:They were probably talking about the total number of GPs held in Monaco back in '78.

Duh. Obviously. They meant the total count—whatever. It doesn't matter what you call the championship. A Grand Prix is a Grand Prix.

Whether it was run with Formula 1 cars, Formula 2 cars, sports cars, etc., etc.

They were probably thinking about all the GPs held in Monaco total—since things were paused during WW2 and they skipped '49, '51, and '52—so I guess that adds up somehow.

Show me where on any of those posters it actually says "Formula 1"

And tell me if an official Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix was even run in 1952.

The "Formula 1" championship didn't even exist until 1981. So, you could turn yourself upside down and still wouldn't find a way to say the first official Formula 1 Grand Prix happened in 1950. Let alone 1952.

It’s all right there. If 1985 was the 43rd, then 1950 couldn't possibly be the first by any logic at all.

Can someone—maybe the resident expert—explain this to me. If the first Grand Prix was back in 1950, how on earth is the fifth Monaco GP listed as being held in 1933?

And how does the thirty-fourth Monaco GP end up happening in 1978?

How is that even possible?

Look, we’re all reasonable people here. We should be able to make sense of things—especially stuff we claim to be certain about, like the "official" start date of 1950.

I'd actually love to hear the expert's take on this one.

Thank God cameras actually existed back in 1929. Seriously—it's the best weapon we've got against history revisionists.

Where the hell is our man darkmarlin16 hiding!? Seriously—the most airtight intro writer ever wouldn't make a factual blunder like this. Missing the mark by over twenty years? —Unthinkable.

Maminhotov intros have always been spot on. Accurate down to the last millimeter, the last letter, the last second... even the tiniest little detail.

For those of us living in pure nostalgia, we still remember those Grand Prix thread titles that always ended with Powered by Maminho

Why'd you post a picture of a NASCAR car from ten years ago?

A short circuit is a Kurz Schluss. A total blowout.

So—since we didn't see any sparks, smoke, or any other classic signs of a blown fuse, we can't exactly call this collision a "short circuit."

Get it?

neonfox65 said:In Bahrain, Kimi's strategy absolutely crushed Vettel's. If they’d been running the same game plan, Kimi wouldn't have stood a chance—just look at those first three races and now this one in Spain where he left him in the dust by a full second in qualifying.

So what you're saying is Lewis Hamilton was basically driving Kimi's car with Kimi's strategy just to make sure he cruised through Bahrain?
Long live the new king! in Formula 1 ·
neonfox65 said:So, Vettel is actually better than Kimi, which is why he didn't beat him in Bahrain. You can't look at it that way—Kimi was just on a different strategy in Bahrain, that's why he came out ahead of Vettel. Generally speaking, Vettel is faster, which you can see now in Barcelona.

So what, the better driver doesn't win, just a better strategy?

neonfox65 said:How should I know? But Lewis Hamilton is way better than Kimi Räikkönen.

Lewis Hamilton, Lewis Hamilton, and Sebastian Vettel are all in the same league—the gap between them is basically nothing.

If he’s "way better," then Lewis Hamilton would’ve cruised to a win in Bahrain without breaking a sweat.

And since he's only "slightly" better than Vettel—who actually won in Malaysia—Lewis Hamilton would've grabbed that one too.

Everything points to the fact that if Lewis Hamilton had stayed at Ferrari, he would've walked away with two wins in the first four races.

He never even managed two wins in the first four starts while driving for Ferrari.

So yeah, he definitely screwed up by quitting Ferrari.

Right?

Got slapped with a 7-day ban because I got into it with some moron. So yeah—expect me to be even more active when I'm back.

neonfox65 said:Not quite. Most experts still argue that Lewis Hamilton is the most complete driver.

Kimi took second in Bahrain. Would Lewis Hamilton have actually won in Bahrain if he was in that car instead of Kimi?
Long live the new king! in Formula 1 ·
neonfox65 said:That’s just wrong. I never claimed Lewis Hamilton was leagues ahead of Vettel—no actual expert would say that either. I just think Lewis is slightly better than Vettel, period. But even he wouldn't get past second place with this current Ferrari mess.

So you're basically saying Lewis Hamilton and Vettel are pretty much on the same level?
