Dad was the first champ in Formula 1, son is the first in Formula E—totally expected at this point.
Formula E in Formula 1 ·
Senna Piquet took the championship!!!!!!!!! Talk about some twisted irony...
Formula E in Formula 1 ·
Let's go, Nelson Piquet 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Formula E in Formula 1 ·
Nelson Piquet was the absolute king of the inaugural Formula 1 season

Nelson Piquet jr. being the world champ in the first Formula E championship--yeah, right.

neonfox65 said:People say this might be more exciting, but honestly? It doesn't mean much to me if the cars and the drivers aren't top-tier. For me, there has to be some level of prestige involved—it can't just be about having a "good race." I mean, you can find plenty of good races starting all the way back at the go-karting level...

Is a race right in the middle of Fenway Park in the heart of New York City not prestigious enough for you?

Or do you think some race out in a cornfield in Kansas is somehow higher status?

steelmaker83 said:How can you say that? Winning—unlike what graniteharbor502 claims—doesn't automatically make you the best. We saw that play out just the other night. It’s the same deal with some world champions... even some multi-time ones...

What I'm getting at is that ranking drivers by points is just pointless.

I mean, races are incredibly exact and measurable things.

First is the best, second is slightly less great, and so on.

It isn't figure skating or music where we need judges to score it.

Unless, of course, the competition itself is totally meaningless. Then who comes in first or second is decided by higher powers. But that's a whole different story.

Michael Diaz4 said:👍 You're spot on—the commentary during the race is absolute garbage. And all that bias toward the Britons...😵 Their "analysis" is a joke, especially how they grade the drivers. Why give Vettel 8 points? Or Perez 10 while Esteban Gutiérrez gets the same 8 as Vettel? It makes zero sense. If you look at how far behind everyone was from Mercedes, Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo were easily the best out there. Everyone else is just noise. For me, the biggest disappointments were Fernando Alonso and Hamilton... Alonso because he did basically nothing, but Hamilton is even worse—losing the lead and dropping that much time in a car like that just proves he isn't all that. He didn't even snag fastest lap in that machine. Basically, on a tricky track like this, he couldn't handle the power, which means Rosberg was actually better. I'm fully expecting a meltdown from people because I'm calling out Hamilton, but this track is where legends are made, and he failed... What a massive waste of time...

Any grading system where the winner doesn't get a 10 is completely pointless.

Drew Bennett68 said:For those of you watching on DirecTV—how did you handle Smith's take on the race?

In that pre-race show, he actually claimed the drivers don't even touch their own clutches—that the pit crew controls them via the pit wall instead.

I muted the audio immediately. Then, after a bit, I just turned off the TV entirely. Honestly, by lap ten, I was ready to just go out for a bike ride.

Not me. Just a bunch of stuck-up guys living off their old glory days.

hope they rot 👎👎👎👎

Thanks for the breakdown!

Honestly, I was about to just toss the TV out the window to stop watching this garbage.

Next time, I'm just hitting mute.

Way to go, Joe Biden

Joe Biden!!!!!

Joe Biden is a freaking genius

Just feels like maybe a few too many people have been lurking around here lately

He says if nobody gets hurt, then it wasn't even a big deal.

Sound familiar?
Monaco GP 2015 in Formula 1 ·
Wait, what? Seriously?

Blaž says the driver at the start doesn't even touch the clutch—that they’re just controlling it from the pit wall instead.

Is that actually true????

That's absolute madness.

Total nightmare fuel.

Now those are actual horrors, not some Hinchcliffe nonsense.

Something's definitely off with Rosberg's car—that didn't look like some basic braking error to me

ruggedhawk20 said:So, there was this one guy in our old crew—total loser, really—who was born with these freakishly short arms. Like, a legit birth defect or something. They actually worked fine enough for him to be an auto mechanic or whatever, but man, they looked hideous. We never missed a chance to mess with him about it. How damn often does that happen? Yeah—they’d fit perfectly every single time. Pretty much every single day—honestly.

Honestly, it was all just a huge joke. We were all buddies back then—nobody was taking any of it personally. He even spent half his time making fun of himself.

Lap record 1:14.439 (Michael Schumacher, Ferrari, 2004)

I don't see what the big deal is...

it's not on Bernie's official site

I wouldn't be surprised if Bernie's army of revisionists tore down all these pretty posters online, Photoshopped "Formula 1" onto them, and then reuploaded them. That’s basically their whole playbook—they just haven't thought of the posters yet. Obviously.

(pay attention to that last line where it says 1929-1979)

So where did all the other Grand Prix go? There's more than enough proof that an "inaugural season" didn't even exist before 1981.

jadeseal7 said:The OP didn't specify this was the first GP under current F1 rules—just that it was the first GP held in Monaco.

Fine, then go ahead and cite 1948

since the 1948 Monaco Grand Prix used cars built strictly according to Formula 1 regulations anyway.

No matter how you slice it, it's true.

And if you want to make things even more ridiculous, that site where you're copy-pasting Bernie Ecclestone's revisionist history actually has a massive logical flaw.

Basically, they claim the race started in "1950," yet there's no track record listed. If there’s no track record, the race hasn't actually happened. I mean, come on—if they were racing, there would be some kind of record, right?

Inaugural season 1950

Gonna go ahead and use a quote from my esteemed colleague here

You actually believe Bernie Ecclestone's statements?

Hahashahhahhhahhaha,......

The Inaugural season was 1981

Go ahead—check it yourself. On all these posters (which I definitely didn't draw—God forbid, I have zero artistic talent)—nowhere does it say Formula 1.
