Fejspalm... You probably have to be using some weird formats. It only failed me once with some files recorded on a phone (audio wouldn't play, but the video worked.)

Richard Nelson2 says: [I]GOM doesn't help, it's just like the others, and neither is VLC. Only DivX player actually works. That's strange. Maybe try uninstalling every single player, codec, and various packs you have, then do a clean install of just GOM or some other player bundled with its own codecs.

Also, I'm running some older software like AutoCAD 2007. Every time I launch it, I get those annoying pop-ups asking if I want to run an unknown program. It happens with every single app and it's driving me crazy. How do I get the system to just stop bothering me?
For the video issue, just download GOM Player and use that. For the second one, there isn't really a fix because even when it does work, it runs like garbage. You could try setting up a virtual machine with Windows XP to run it there, or maybe just upgrade to a newer version.

I already tried turning off the Windows firewall and Defender, but nothing changed. Is this a Windows thing, or did my ISP block them? I'm using Comcast, and sites like xxx.warez-bb.org aren't loading, for example.
Maybe boot up some Linux from a disc and see if it's actually the ISP or just a Windows issue.😉

Open to suggestions.🤷🤷🤷
Your CPU is nearly 10 years old. It's not worth investing in.🙂
Sell that junk on Craigslist $133 and for $500 grab something used that's 2-3 times more powerful.😉

But here's the thing—over the last year, I've had to deal with at least 25 different MS units (or similar brands) that blew out, and not a single Fortron or Corsair. On some of them, the PSU actually took the motherboard down with it. It's not being dramatic; it's just reality. Those power supplies aren't good. Maybe someone gets lucky and their MS lasts five years... but I think the PSU is honestly the last place you should try to cut corners. Personally, I wouldn't risk running a $1,000 rig on something like that. 🙂
Oh great, now I look like the crazy one because you edited your post 😁
Your power supply is junk. You might be better off putting about $100 toward a 400W Fortron unit and grabbing a GPU for $233... Your other parts are decent enough, and trust me, you don't want everything to blow up just because the PSU is screaming for help 🙂
silentmaker51 said:Hey guys, I have a question about installing Windows XP on a machine running Windows 7—well, more like a problem. I put a bootable Windows XP disc into my laptop which already has Windows 7 on it. It reads the disc just fine, but after about three minutes, it says the installation isn't possible because it can't find the hard drive or something similar... I used this exact same Windows CD today to install XP on a friend's Vista machine and everything worked perfectly... so, I'm asking you all how to get rid of Windows 7 so I can install XP... it works fine on Vista, but not on 7... what's the catch? Is there some way to just wipe Windows 7 so there's no OS at all, then maybe I can install Windows XP normally? I searched Google, but nothing I found or tried actually worked.
The hard drive is probably set to SATA mode. Try switching it to IDE mode in the BIOS (it might be called IDE mode, ATA mode, or something generic, just make sure it isn't set to RAID or SATA)
Kenneth Williams36 said:Heh, what do they think? Probably the same as everyone else... just wasting time here asking stupid questions. I mean, you all bought the OS. What exactly are you trying to accomplish?☕
I've got an original version of Windows. 🙂
The question is valid because what he's aiming for is actually illegal here in the States. Forum rules. It would probably be a good idea to read that before you hit install.
Look, how many times do I have to explain this? How exactly do you plan on activating the same Windows on two different machines? 🙂 One license covers one computer. Period. Here’s the part from the EULA:
One Copy per Computer. You may install one copy of the software on one computer. That computer is the “licensed computer.”

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on it. Now the whole thing freezes constantly, and I have to do a hard reset manually. It happens when I right-click an icon or try installing software... Plus, the USB ports are hit or miss. Is this a Windows issue or a hardware problem? I'd rather not deal with a warranty claim if it's just a software glitch....
