Sitting at 5th overall in Group A, though I'm actually second when looking strictly at the main points...
1. Nico Rosberg 2. Lewis Hamilton 3. Fernando Alonso 4. Valtteri Bottas 5. Felipe Massa 6. Daniel Ricciardo 7. Kimi Raikkonen 8. Sebastian Vettel 9. Jenson Button 10. Kevin Magnussen
Predictions made before the start of FP3. This holds true for the upcoming race...

steelmaker83 said:That’s how it looks to me too. But why wouldn't they manufacture some hype if there's an opportunity... It all traces back to Nico Rosberg, really. If he had just spoken up about being on the podium right then, we could have avoided so much of this... But he didn't. And that's telling... it means things have reached a boiling point...
I'm pretty certain the loser is the one walking away from the team.
And what if the loser turns out to be Rosberg? He just inked that new multi-year deal with Mercedes, yet nobody on the grid actually views him as a top-tier driver. Is he really going to ditch the squad? I doubt it. As for Lewis Hamilton, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he left...
@brighthound8/">@@brighthound8 - you’ve gotta be the one to decide on your race prediction. I'm just sticking with your last one regardless of the hype... if you want to change things up, you have until the start of FP3
Anyway, I decided to cut you some slack this time and went with the rainy forecast instead (just a hint, though... that first option probably would've netted you roughly double the points)

Let's wrap this mess up. Since we haven't had quite the turnout we were hoping for, we're going to split things into two groups. The top three from each group will move on to the knockout stage. The winner of each group gets a bye straight into the semifinals... while the second and third-place finishers from both groups will have to battle it out in an opening elimination round just to earn their spot in the semis. The winner of Group A will face whoever wins the 3A-2B duel in the semifinals. The winner of Group B will take on the winner of the 3B-2A duel in the semifinals.
I'll get those fancy charts and everything else sorted once I'm back in New York City and can actually get some decent internet access...

I'll have the results ready tonight once I finally get home.
If we run two groups, we're looking at roughly six people per group—though there's always a chance the turnout increases. Either way, I agree that splitting into four groups just doesn't make sense in this format.
Both suggestions have merit, but they both carry potential issues. If four players advance from a single group, it makes qualifying far too easy... back during the 2014 tournament, we had four groups of six, where only two moved on from each. The second suggestion brings up another question: does the winner actually deserve a direct ticket to the semifinals? Plus, if we go that route, the groups won't overlap much, meaning a semifinalist might end up playing nothing but people from their own group all the way to the finals.
Still, I'm leaning toward the Templar idea. The whole point of these groups should be to minimize the headache... Philip, William Bennett53, remember how much trouble we had in our group 😁 just trying to move forward.
I'll make the final call tonight after I get home and crunch the numbers. If anyone has a valid counterargument for either option, speak up in the next two hours or don't bother at all. 😁
What’s going on here... is nobody actually playing?
1. Lewis Hamilton 2. Nico Rosberg 3. Daniel Ricciardo 4. Sebastian Vettel 5. Valtteri Bottas 6. Fernando Alonso 7. Felipe Massa 8. Jenson Button 9. Kimi Raikkonen 10. Kevin Magnussen
cosmiccyclist8 said:Massa is just holding them back at this point. He could mess up before you even finish a sentence... I don't know what kind of deal he's got with Williams, but honestly, wouldn't it be better to bring in some fresh talent like Bottas? The younger guys seem to handle these new cars way better than the veterans. It’s obvious the cars have changed so much that experience doesn't give the "old guard" any sort of edge anymore... and the new blood actually looks like they want to be there, which is how it should be...
Massa just hasn't had any luck this season...
but if you ask me, he handled that near-miss with Kimi perfectly...
neonfox65 said:It feels like you're reaching here... 🙂 What does Alonso have to do with Ricciardo getting scammed? Alonso is driving a car that sits third in the constructors' standings, right behind Red Bull, so of course they’re going to finish behind them.
Williams is right behind them in the standings. So, is it suddenly "normal" for Williams to finish ahead of them?
William Bennett53 said:So, anyway... Option A: Mladen takes the win (since Iceman didn't put in an offer)... Regarding point B... Dorian’s win. He definitely didn't send over an offer... Regarding point C... the Russians came out on top.
