Gaethje - Dariush? No way, I don't buy it. Aren't those two supposed to be good friends?

That’s just a step down from where we were. 🤣

brisktrucker51, the guy's actually making some good points here. ☕

steelharbor9 said:Oh, come on, man. Out of the Best Picture nominees, I feel like only Don't Look Up and Nightmare Alley were total garbage. Everything else was actually pretty solid—well, except for King Richard, which I haven't seen yet, so I can't say for sure. What do you think, 😁? I mean, compared to some of the lineups from previous years, this group is actually pretty killer.

Any one of those heavy hitters like Dune, Licorice Pizza, CODA, The Power of the Dog, or Drive My Car would have deserved the win. They probably would've been the best Best Picture winner we've seen in five or six years, maybe since Spotlight.

With how things have been going lately, I kind of thought they’d pull a total curveball and give it to Don't Look Up just to crank up the hype. But I guess it worked out by pure luck that they still aren't ready to hand a Best Picture trophy to a Netflix production (because if they were, The Power of the Dog probably would've been the frontrunner).

By the way, it seems like only on some niche conspiracy forums is there a consensus that the whole thing is rigged. Classic conspiracy theories, I guess. 🙏 Everywhere else, everyone seems to agree that Will definitely pulled it off. 🤣

Huh? You think this beats 2020? We had *Parasite*, *Ford v Ferrari*, *1917*, *The Irishman*, *Jojo Rabbit*, *Joker*, *Marriage Story*, *Knives Out*, *Uncut Gems*... easily the strongest year in recent memory. Look, I get that taste is subjective, but to me, this year feels like pure mediocrity. *CODA* is fine, but we've seen plenty of those lately. PTA is highbrow stuff; I dig his new film, but it’s definitely not in his top five. As for *The Power of the Dog*, I don't get the massive hype. Still need to catch *Drive My Car*. Personally, *Nightmare Alley* was alright. All these movies are "okay," but none of them hit me as something special. 2020 had way more substance.

Honestly, it would be better if this whole hype train just merged with the DDL and Jack Collins58 crowd. Look, the guy is a talented actor, but he’s massively overrated and constantly goes way too over the top. People just inflate his reputation far more than necessary. Sherlock was his best work, even if I wasn't particularly crazy about that movie itself.

Jesse Wells8 said:What are you two even talking about? From what I can see on the TV guide, they're just showing movies on the local networks...

Anyway, thinking back to Jack Nicholson... there’s one sharp moment I remember about him. Back in the mid-90s, I used to stay up late watching the David Letterman show live on some cable channel over in Europe 🤔. One night, Sean Penn was the guest. Letterman is chatting him up—Sean’s being his usual cool, composed self—and suddenly Dave asks him about hanging out with Nicholson. Apparently, they were close enough to hit the town together. He asks how women react when they see the two of them out together, if they approach them and all that. Sean tells this story about how a woman once approached Nicholson and asked if he’d like to dance with her. Nicholson just looks at her and says: Wrong verb.

🤣

That stuck with me. I find myself thinking of that answer whenever someone asks me to do something I just don't feel like doing... 😬

The guy's got a legendary face. Morgan Freeman actually told a similar story on Letterman about how wild nights out with him could get. He mentioned a time there was some chaos on a movie set, everyone was being called in to rush back, and people were gossiping everywhere. Freeman started to bolt, and Jack just told him, "Don't run. They'll know we're late." 🤣

Honestly, one of the best speeches ever. He rarely makes public appearances, which only adds to that sense of mystique surrounding him.

And let’s not forget even Conor had two losses back in his Cage Warriors days. That doesn't mean much when you're just starting out; those losses happened when he was only 22 or 23. You don't need a flawless record before hitting the UFC—this isn't boxing. Honestly, I’d argue taking a loss early on can actually be good for you. But with this guy, it's obvious he just doesn't possess Conor's level of raw talent; they are fundamentally different fighters. Paddy simply isn't a generational talent; his appeal is almost entirely based on marketing. He might develop into a decent enough fighter, but nothing more than that. I truly don't get the massive hype surrounding him. It seems people are drawn to him as a personality, not because of any actual fighting skill. I can totally wrap my head around the hype Conor had early on, and I get it with Till too. But with this guy? Not at all. He's just an unlikable dude with a heavy accent. 🤷

If rankings actually worked that way, nobody would ever step into the cage. Thank God they don't. He could have easily jumped ahead of Lewis, maybe even Blaydes. He probably would've walked away with a much bigger payday too, rather than fighting some random nobody at the Apex in front of an empty room during some insignificant event later this year. You only head to New York City if you're the headliner. Who wouldn't? ☕

Damn, I totally blanked on commenting on a few of these fights. Seriously, this was the best UFC Fight Night we've seen in ages—honestly felt more like a major PPV event. Craig is acting just like Glover; he’s got you pinned, you think it’s over, and then—bam. 🤣

Anyway, let him and Smith go at it. If they fight each other, they both walk away with the best shot at a title fight. Watching Mokaeva is going to be interesting too; it feels like the wave of young talent in this sport is just picking up speed. 👍

What kind of FN is this? You can only get an atmosphere like that in a place like New York City. 🙏

nimblemoose2 said:Paddy is just brawling his way through; I honestly think Dana is going to match him against much weaker fighters just to keep the hype train rolling, just like he’s doing with that guy with the colorful hair. When I saw Vargas take him down, I thought, "Okay, he's good," but then the guy turns it around... honestly, I was rooting for both of them to just lose, but damn...

Same here, they both drive me absolutely insane. Someone is going to shut Paddy down very soon because this division is stacked. I actually just bet a buddy of mine that he'll never even crack the top 10 in LWu; frankly, I don't see anyone in the top 15 he could actually beat. 😬

With O'Malley, though, I actually get the hype. You can see the technique; you can see he's physically superior to the rest of the division. You can tell when someone is special, but I just don't see it with Paddy. His character doesn't interest me at all, and I don't get the buzz. He's just an average fighter acting arrogant. He's going to get destroyed when he faces someone like Topuria, who has hammers for hands and killer wrestling. That guy is elite too.

Allen is the real deal. I can't wait to see him go up against some top 5 guys. He's a complete fighter who's solid in every department; he just needs to fight more often. He's relatively young, though, so in my eyes, he and Tom are the biggest American prospects for the title.

Aspinall is just incredible. He's well-rounded, but what surprised me was how much faster he was than Volkov. He looked way quicker than Ngannou did against him. Man, we have another legitimate HW contender. I wouldn't mind seeing him face Tuivasa in the next one. 👍

Jack Shore vs Valiev is also a great matchup, especially that third round. I'm happy for Nelson. 👍

Tom Aspinall is the real deal. He’s a solid, humble guy who’s always been vocal about taking the long, calculated road to the top. A lot of people back home say his grappling is elite, and honestly, that might be the only way to handle Alexander Volkov since almost nobody can actually trade strikes with him. Check out this clip where Tom breaks down the Heavyweight division:

Ugh. I’m pulling for him. This division is desperate for some fresh blood.

If I had slapped you, you’d be nursing a bruised cheek right now. How many times have I explicitly stated that there is zero excuse for any kind of aggression? Why is it suddenly against the rules to point out hypocrisy and draw those comparisons? Where exactly does that violate the topic guidelines? Seriously, try learning how to quote properly before you start lecturing people who mastered that back in middle school.

Russia had fired 625 missiles into Ukraine since their invasion began. For perspective, Israel fired the same amount of missiles during their 2014 assault on a single neighborhood in Gaza 🙏

He had to be removed if the country was ever going to move forward. 🙏

Just look at the state of the country now. 🤣

Are you even reading what you wrote?

There is absolutely no debate on my end regarding the condemnation of this aggression, and frankly, it’s disgusting that you’re implying I’m justifying anything. I’ve said this multiple times, but clearly, you lack basic reading comprehension. It’s the same deal with Saddam—you can’t grasp my point because you refuse to connect the dots. You have to look at the timing and the context. Saddam was taken out right at the start, yet the USA pulled its troops out eight years later. As for the oil, I already provided a link that seems to be way over your head.

So, you’d want to take out Assad? Just because things went so well in Libya? Honestly, you haven't offered a single concrete answer to anything; you just spout total nonsense. You love talking about propaganda while it’s blindingly obvious that your brain has been washed by pro-American rhetoric. I don't subscribe to any specific propaganda, whether it’s Russian or American. Both nations do terrible things—some more than others. You paint one side as modern-day Nazis while conveniently turning a blind eye and searching for excuses for the other. There is zero point in trying to have a real discussion with you on this topic. Nancy Bishop4 said:Lol, would they have been slaughtered? Maybe. If Americans hadn't gone to war with Iran, maybe they would've been killed even more. Maybe it would have turned into a civil war like in Syria, or maybe Saddam would have started using poison gas again—maybe, maybe.

Sure, and we can just blame the Americans for everything. Is that any different from blaming the Republican Party for how long they've held power here?
The fundamental issues in those countries aren't actually about the USA; it's because most of them are Frankenstein states. They don't make sense in their current forms, and honestly, most should probably break up into several smaller nations that are ethnically and religiously homogeneous.

Saddam got his ass kicked once; what are the odds he'd try that again? Everything you're saying is just one big "maybe." I’m talking about facts and what actually happened.

I agree that the region is a minefield and there hasn't been a solution since Israel was established with Western help. But nothing before the Americans arrived there had any consequences for Europe. Trying to justify their intervention makes no sense at all.

Nancy Bishop4 said:By the way, the vast majority of those civilians were killed by the Iraqis themselves using various improvised explosive devices.
Nobody went into Iraq to steal oil.🙄
And for the record, Americans don't deny the existence of Iraq or the Iraqi people the way the Russians do with Ukrainians.

Would they have been massacred if there hadn't been an intervention? Honestly, Americans killed more people there than the Russians are killing Ukrainians right now (and let's hope the Russians don't cross that line). You can't just parachute democracy and Western values into a country that operates on a completely different mindset and culture. It doesn't work. How many interventions have we seen that left things in a state even worse than when they started? A hell of a lot. And it’s not just about wrecking a region; the fallout hits Europe directly. You end up having to deal with massive refugee waves and try to assimilate them into the Western way of life, not to mention the inevitable terrorist attacks.

God, those former Eastern Bloc countries have been struggling just to get their democratic institutions and market economies off the ground—and honestly, they're still fighting that battle. It’s because those systems had centuries to mature in the West. You really think you can just drop those same concepts into a total wasteland like that? Give me a break. Get out of here.

The mainstream media is at it again, spinning narratives that barely scratch the surface of what’s actually happening on the ground. This latest report is just more of the same—surface-level analysis masquerading as deep reporting while the real geopolitical implications get swept under the rug. It’s frustratingly shallow. We see these massive shifts in power and international tension, yet the coverage remains stuck in a loop of predictable talking points. Honestly, if you want the truth, you have to look way past these polished headlines.

Honestly, I’d much rather have someone deny my very existence than watch them tear this country apart. I'd take being erased over seeing the nation dismantled and plunged into a state of chaos that lasts for two decades. 🤣

The strikes on the oligarchs by the USA are nothing more than a distraction from the current Russian warfare.
