Patrick Martin said:Hold on a second—if you're all about having an understanding when it comes to giving the Democratic Party a third chance, why on earth are you defending everyone else in the same way regarding the Republican Party?
Maybe it's because they're criminals and most of their staff hasn't even changed since the Sanders days. I'd love to hear them claim they had absolutely no idea what was going on. 🙄
Keith Miller30 said:Of course ideology isn't an illusion; I'm not quite sure where you're getting that idea from. You cannot simply dictate to another person what should matter to them and what shouldn't, can you? Everyone in this forum is championing some form of ideology, including yourself, if we are being honest.
As for the second point you made, I won't even bother quoting it, as I don't believe it even deserves a response.
Let’s be clear: I wouldn't have any issue setting aside my ideological leanings and casting a vote for the Democrats if I didn't feel they were undermining the country. Or perhaps I'd find myself supporting a sensible leader like Cory Booker.
Are you seriously suggesting they can do more damage than a literal criminal organization—something the public has already seen confirmed?
ZZ made a great point asking what actually makes this administration so much more tragic than the last one. I've read that question a hundred times now, and frankly, there's zero substance behind the answers. The reality is people know this government is incompetent, so they don't even bother trying to prove otherwise, or they simply couldn't care less. But let's be honest: it isn't any worse than the previous one. Why on earth would we give an equally terrible former administration another shot? Not to mention, that prior group basically picked the country's pockets clean.
Larry Fox5 said:There’s another way out—just don't show up to vote. By signing that ballot, you’re basically handing over your blessing to the lesser of two evils, even if you know damn well it's a trap.
That way, you can at least walk around with a clear conscience... tell yourself this isn't your government or your leadership, just whatever the majority in this country decided to pull. At least then you can look yourself in the mirror in the morning.
Jeffrey Edwards76 actually nailed it in a thread a few pages back—about a quarter of the people in this country benefit directly or indirectly from this whole rigged setup, living off someone else's sweat or credit. You can't expect anything to change when the system is built to keep them winning.
To grab the majority needed to run the show, they have to resort to lies and dirty manipulation. Just facts...
That’s just not an option for me. People always end up whining later—not you specifically, I'm speaking generally—about how things turned out poorly, but honestly? That's on you. You own your choices. You pick the lesser of two evils and at least you did your part to prevent a total disaster. Then you wake up the next morning complaining that things suck, but at least you have the peace of mind knowing they could have been a hell of a lot worse. 😬
I’ll probably end up voting for a third party. I’m clinging to the hope that more young people will follow suit so we can finally see some actual change in this country. But honestly, when I look at how much influence those old guard fossils in the two major parties have over their own kids, it’s a complete disaster. They indoctrinate them from day one, and frankly, that's the biggest roadblock to any real political progress we might ever see.
I’m honestly considering casting my vote for the Democrats. I know I’ve probably said this a dozen times already, but sometimes you have to choose the lesser of two evils to stop a total disaster. That said, I’m keeping a close eye on the polls. If a third option—one that actually makes sense—starts gaining any real traction, I’ll jump ship in a heartbeat. Let’s be real: most Americans are absolutely fed up with both the GOP and the Democrats.
A debate between a heavy hitter like Joe Biden and someone like Donald Trump would be more entertaining than every late-night comedy show combined. Honestly, it’ll probably feel like watching a total blowout, like a top-tier US football team playing against a high school squad.
You can claim to be whatever you want, but there’s no way you can claim to support the Republicans. Sure, everyone has their flaws—the Democrats are a mess most of the time—but even they are more tolerable than the GOP. I honestly have to hope that people voting Republican are doing it for some calculated personal gain; otherwise, we’re looking at nothing short of intellectual suicide.
And this is the group that’s supposed to lead our country. 🤣
Anyone who kills a cat or a dog for no reason is a sick individual, but what really gets under my skin are these so-called "animal lovers." I remember recently when about 10 wild boars charged into a city and started causing absolute mayhem. They stormed into libraries, local cafes, and—obviously—people had to put them down. Yet, these "animal rights activists" have the nerve to cry about the legal consequences for the people who actually had to stop them. 🤦🤦

On a different note, I was actually wondering if anyone has any solid comedy recommendations? For the past year, I've been stuck in a loop of nothing but horror, heavy dramas, and intense thrillers. It feels like an absolute eternity since I last sat down to enjoy a genuinely good comedy.

If you're looking for series, nothing touches this one. ☕
As for movies, I'm drawing a blank. Honestly, I think Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz were the last things that actually made me laugh.
Keith Miller30 said:Honestly, Daredevil is one of those rare few series I’m actually bingeing between seasons right now. Have you happened to catch that specific fight sequence where Matt goes after those kidnappers to save the kid? In my opinion, that particular fight scene is the Number One best choreographed action moment ever put on screen. 🙏
Top-tier scene. Still, Oldboy takes the crown for me, though that Kingsman church scene isn't bad either.
ambertinker41 said:In that case, I'd suggest checking out The League if you want comedy, Wilfred (USA) if you're into dark humor dramedies, or Rake (Australia) for a drama with some solid banter.
Anyone have any thoughts on Battle Creek or maybe Lilyhammer?
I watched the first one. Everything else is going on my watchlist.
I watched the first episode of The Wire 3 times before I could even get into it. Let's be real, starting that show is an absolute grind, but once you're in, it’s epic. Seasons 3 and 4 are peak television, hands down. And Omar Little? Easily the greatest character ever written.
Btw, finally got to Game of Thrones. I've been waiting forever for this, and man, what a sick episode.
What is wrong with people? Honestly. For me, The Wire is the absolute best and most objective portrayal of how society actually functions—from the police and politics to education, journalism, and even the unions...
Everything about it is masterfully executed and incredibly detailed. Aside from The Sopranos, it’s easily the highest quality series I’ve ever watched, with Breaking Bad sitting right on their heels.
mellowotter36 said:Has anyone checked out Better Call Saul yet? Let me know what you think!
I've seen it. It isn't Breaking Bad, but it's certainly in the same orbit. All things considered, I enjoyed it. There are plenty of entertaining episodes, the acting is top-tier, and the way Vince Gilligan shoots everything is pure genius—the cinematography is stunning. The pacing can drag sometimes, just like in Breaking Bad, but if you're a fan of the original, you'll likely be happy. There’s a bit more comedy involved; I get the feeling this first season is mostly focused on his transformation into Saul, and I suspect things will descend into total chaos by season two (which would make sense, given how Breaking Bad went).😬
Honestly, after finishing House of Cards and Better Call Saul, I just can't seem to get into any more heavy drama. Even though I've had Peaky Blinders and Daredevil sitting in my download queue for ages, I just haven't found the headspace for them. I'd much rather stick to comedies lately; I just wrapped up Entourage (now we're all just waiting on that ☕ movie), and right now I'm watching Archer, which is freaking hilarious. There's just too much good stuff out there and nowhere near enough time.
And don't even get me started on the classics I've missed, like Oz or Twin Peaks—I actually started the latter a long time ago but had to drop it because life got in the way. That said, I did manage to get through The Sopranos and The Wire, and honestly, nothing else even comes close to those two. 🙏
Jessica Gonzalez said:Personally, I think I just need documentaries from the BBC—well, more specifically, their series.
1) BBC - Blue Planet 2) BBC - Planet Earth 3) Michael Palin - Pole to Pole
As for scripted shows, I don't really have any recommendations. I've watched plenty, but I guess I just appreciate it most when they focus on the real world; sci-fi and fantasy feel a bit too much like mere playthings to me.
Keith Miller30 said:I actually prefer The Godfather over Shawshank too, though I'd definitely place Shawshank in my top three or four. As for The Dark Knight Rises, it’s a solid movie; I had to bite my tongue quite hard to keep from jumping in when you started bashing it. ☕
Look, TDK was brilliant, but TDKR has way too many plot holes. I’ll stop harping on it if it bothers you that much. ☕
