Man, Vince Vaughn is such a total badass. 🤣🤦

Why don't you all go back to dissecting the new season of TD? You’ve already picked this topic apart to death. You can interpret Odyssey in plenty of ways, and honestly, Interstellar is a solid movie. It isn't the life-changing masterpiece some people claim it is, but it certainly isn't the absolute garbage others make it out to be.

As for TD, I'm disappointed. 👎

all that talk about cancer and stuff was honestly unnecessary.

Why?

I actually thought they nailed it, especially the ending.

It’s a pretty likable little movie. I honestly expected it to be some cliché garbage when he went back to his son and started buying him things—that trope is played out a thousand times. But they did the exact opposite, and I loved that. The ending landed perfectly for me; they didn't force some long, sugary happy ending where he ends up with the woman or starts performing all those songs he wrote. He probably did write them later, but they didn't feel the need to show us.

It’s great hearing Lennon again, and Al Pacino finally delivers a performance at his actual level. By the way, the actor playing his son is brilliant—I've been a fan since his days on Boardwalk Empire playing Gypa Rosettia. It’s strange he hasn't become a massive star yet; apparently, Al Pacino was the one who suggested him for the role.

The whole plot revolves around a letter received by Steve Tilston. I checked out a few of his tracks, and he's actually decent.

7/10 for me.

Is she even better than when they turned into dealers?

Curb Your Enthusiasm is also top-tier. My personal top five has to be Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sunny, The Office, and the absolute powerhouse that is Arrested Development. Everything else just feels lukewarm in comparison. I gave Silicon Valley a shot, and while there were a few decent jokes, it didn't really hit the mark for me—I was expecting way more. On the flip side, Archer absolutely killed it in the final season after a pretty mediocre fifth season.

but when it comes to WWII stuff, Band of Brothers just clears the competition easy... 🙏

The visual effects and battle sequences are solid, but honestly, there's way too much American sentimentality for my taste. Don't get me wrong, it's worth a watch, but if you want actual quality war cinema, there are better options out there.

Looks decent enough; I'll give it a look. Let's just hope Boyle doesn't screw this one up.

Take Billy Wilder, for instance—that whole Golden Age of Hollywood era. Their films have more charm and much sharper dialogue than 99% of what we see today. Look, I’m not some hater of modern cinema; honestly, there’s plenty of good stuff out there if you actually bother to look for it. It’s just that those two directors, along with a select few others, were telling real stories.

I find 2001: A Space Odyssey boring, even if I respect the filmmaking. That said, the rest of Kubrick's filmography keeps me hooked—The Killing is absolutely terrifying, and while Full Metal Jacket is a bit much in the first half, the second half isn't nearly as bad as people claim it is. And honestly, I don't get how anyone could find A Clockwork Orange boring. 🤷

Jessica Gonzalez said:The story behind The Matrix is just incredible, especially considering it was an entirely original script rather than some adaptation of a book, comic, or whatever else. I guess they unfortunately messed up the sequels by leaning too hard into endless action scenes and melodrama just to please the crowds. The original is definitely one of the most unique films of the modern era. I wouldn't say it's the greatest of all time, nor would I call someone silly for not liking it, but it has qualities I really value: originality, a compelling plot, and a believable world. You could argue Inception is an original film, but conceptually, it feels a bit like a second-rate version of The Matrix. They even seemed to borrow the whole "limbo" idea, which feels like a copy of that space between reality and a computer program. 🤦 for both concepts. I suppose the only thing the other film did better was casting, since Keanu Reeves has about as much acting range as a street lamp.

Honestly, I thought his emotional range in John Wick was incredible. He absolutely deserved an Oscar for that look on his face right after his dog died. It’s a total must-win. ☕

Jessica Gonzalez said:I guess I don't mind being called an extremist if it means I get to call almost every recent movie garbage. You can tell me I'm conservative or some kind of generational chauvinist, maybe, but please don't compare me to AJ or people like him.

Alright, let's be real—has there actually been anything worth watching in the last two years? Because if you ask me, the answer is a resounding yes.

Jessica Gonzalez said:I guess I’m wondering if anyone else watched Interstellar and realized how wild it is that a farmer and his daughter just stumbled upon this massive underground facility—roughly the size of New York City—hidden in some random cornfield out in the middle of nowhere. They basically just hit a fence with their truck and decided to go see what was on the other side. And then, they just sent him into space the very next morning because he was already there, which seems like a pretty convenient way to pick a pilot, I suppose. To me, the plot logic feels a bit like Independence Day or The Day After Tomorrow, where things like an ice age seem to move way faster than a standard baseball game.

That’s not quite right. The guy used to do this professionally, so it’s obvious he isn't just some random amateur. He knows exactly what he's doing—he's hunting those drones or whatever they are.

James Anderson5 said:Hey, since we're talking about Stanley Kubrick, there's this one movie that honestly beats 90% of what's been mentioned over the last few pages, and it's already 60 years old

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050825/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_10

Anyone who gives this a watch won't be disappointed...

Pretty much everything by Stanley Kubrick is a masterpiece. Dracula is easily one of the greatest satires ever made. 🙏

I'm signing off on everything Walter Grant5 said—most movie talk is just way too subjective, unless something is so blatantly terrible that you can't ignore it.

I get it—things were different back then, and I respect that. But there are plenty of old films that actually sparked movements and still hold up incredibly well; they’re probably better than 99% of what's being churned out today. With that first Mad Max, though, I just can't get behind it. Maybe it's just my subjective take, but I think time has finally caught up with it and left it behind. 🤷

Matthew Anderson4 said:it's really just a string of mediocre movies.

I'm with you. I honestly don't get the hype. This new one is decent enough action for me. Honestly, I'd rather just have pure action than some tedious, pathetic plot we've seen a hundred times before. Look, the second one is a solid film, but that first one? It's an absolute snooze fest. I have no idea what people are actually seeing in that movie. 🤷

Let me know when a torrent actually comes up that looks decent.

Personally, I think seasons 1 through 5 are absolute gold—Ari, Billy, and Drama are easily the best characters. That episode featuring the filming of Medellin sticks in my mind as one of the funniest moments in comedy history; Billy absolutely killed it in that one.

Jessica Gonzalez said:It’s probably money, or maybe something else he got from the party. A friend of mine used to hand out flyers for Ivo Sanders, and yeah, it was for cash.

But honestly, that’s the single biggest rot in today's political landscape. For most people, their livelihood—their literal daily bread—depends entirely on which faction they join or who they vote for. Naturally, they gravitate toward the two major parties because survival dictates it; it’s all just a desperate scramble for position. Not long ago, a teacher was actually crying to Zoran Milanović because she lost her job for not being party-affiliated, and his brilliant solution was to tell her to just join one of them. 🤣🤦

I find it hard to believe that people are truly so dense that they can't see the massive flaws in these two options, especially the Republican Party. But how do you break out of this vicious cycle? That is the core issue. Until we solve that, nothing changes, no matter how many young intellectuals or rational thinkers we throw at it. At the end of the day, when you weigh everything up, the smartest move is often just to leave the country.

@Keith Miller30

I honestly don't see where you're getting this optimism from, or why you'd have any hope that they'll actually get things done. Does Karamarko look like anyone qualified to lead this country to you? Based on these interviews and everything we've seen so far, do you really think he's the guy who can pull us out of this crisis?
