Well, yes... that is precisely my point...

The doctors who actually understand these mechanisms aren't just keeping it to themselves; they are busy publishing books on the subject, providing far more than mere information by detailing the specific exercises required...😕
Everything is fine, placidjackal97
Thank you...

It is just that... hearing you describe it that way makes me a bit apprehensive. It starts making me wonder if I actually want to dive into autogenic training if it truly is something "dangerous."

If that were the case, why on earth would people bother writing entire books on autogenic training, detailing every single exercise step-by-step?😕 😕 😕

And we aren't just talking about random hobbyists; these books are written by doctors and psychiatrists!😕 😲 😲 Surely they understand the potential risks... I mean, they possess a much deeper understanding of the human psyche than a layperson ever could...

I simply don't follow the logic...
I recognize that at an advanced level, things can get risky since you’re essentially digging into the subconscious... but I fail to see what dangers could possibly stem from basic exercises. To me, they just seem like simple relaxation techniques rather than something mystical or, I don't know, anything else...🙄
😕Could someone please clarify this for me?
Yes, precisely... according to the literature, those who practice autogenic training tend to become more tolerant and avoid negative "transference" toward others—a concept well-documented in psychotherapy. This supposedly makes one remarkably open to people... 😉 😉 khm...
Why such a harsh critique of Dr. Gruden? I’m personally not very familiar with his work, though I find his books quite decent—specifically the one on autogenic training. I actually picked it up and have already completed the first exercise 😕
Is the protocol really just doing one or two minutes of the right arm heaviness exercise for two weeks straight? Is that truly it? And then, after those two weeks, I'm supposed to add the next step and continue that way until I've finished the entire sequence?😕
I tried calling, but I ended up speaking with the receptionist instead... I'll try my luck again on Monday...

My thanks to everyone...

That said, I am still quite interested in hearing about your actual experiences, yet it seems no one is willing to elaborate much further... I appreciate those who have shared their thoughts—it truly means a lot to me. 👍
It’s quite unfortunate that more people aren't aware of just how expensive this course actually is... 🙄
Well, I actually received a DM... though I'm not entirely sure what to make of it. 🙂

Interestingly enough, that same doctor was recommended to me by someone on Reddit. 🙂 👍
No one has sent me a DM yet regarding which instructor is supposedly so wonderful... 😢 However, I have discovered that the physician my doctor mentioned isn't actually at the Kruge Community Health Center—I seem to have conflated a few details there—but rather runs her own private practice. Her name is Dr. Skarica.
Yes, it’s a possibility... though my current budget is somewhat constrained
however, if anyone happens to have any intel, please—send me a PM
Yes, I am quite certain that would be the case. 🙂

That is precisely why I am interested in gathering every scrap of information available. So, you taught yourself... well, I suppose I shall attempt to do the same. 🙂
Who exactly is this doctor and where is she located?

My own physician mentioned there is a psychiatrist over at the Kruge Community Health Center who specializes in this area, so I am considering making an appointment. On a separate note, I have been seeing a psychiatrist for anxiety, and I intend to ask for his professional opinion on autogenic training during our next session.
Pricey!... Uh... 😢 🙄

I happened to spot a book by Dr. Gruden regarding autogenic training at a booth and flipped through it for a moment... everything seems quite clearly laid out there... Why shouldn't I just attempt to learn it from the text itself? 😢

Is it worth a shot? I mean... what's the worst that could happen? 😕 🙂

From what I gathered while skimming, they seem to be relaxation exercises... and apparently, autogenic training is related to psychoanalysis, which helps resolve various internal conflicts... (at least, that’s what I managed to note down). Are you still practicing AT yourself? What does that actually entail? How frequently do you do it?
I am curious if anyone could provide a detailed explanation of what autogenic training actually entails. Specifically, I would like to know how one goes about learning it, what the actual benefits are, and whether there are any common criticisms of the practice. Is this considered a legitimate medical technique utilized within psychoanalysis, or is it something else entirely?

I would appreciate any insights you can offer, though I would be particularly interested to hear from those who have firsthand experience practicing autogenic training.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.🙂

Take a look at the thread regarding nutrition tailored for living in the zone over on the female angle... My mother managed to drop about four and a half pounds in just over a week without even breaking a sweat. She barely got started and had already slipped up a few times... 😕 This diet actually works. 😉

I ended up taking the pill anyway, and honestly, I felt fine—it definitely took the edge off... though I was pretty much a zombie for the rest of the day... 😕
It’s funny how the exact same medication can hit everyone so differently.

I am going to attempt a brief walk to see if I can settle my nerves... Given how stressful things have become, I might actually need to rely on my medication, though I would prefer to manage this on my own first. I have successfully avoided taking anything all morning, but now my heart has started racing, and I’m feeling these uncomfortable spasms in my stomach and chest... 😢

He also suggested I have a drink this evening...

Actually, I think I might just go ahead and have one—or perhaps half a glass—right now. 😢

Well... we touched on my current situation, where I think these anxieties are stemming from, how to tackle them, and so on. It was actually quite helpful. The conversation gave me a boost, and I felt relatively stable for most of the day. 🙂

I took some Xanax and Ambien last night and slept soundly... I’m feeling a bit jittery this morning, though I suppose I shouldn't be surprised given everything going on; regardless, it isn't catastrophic. I'll manage.
He mentioned seeing me again in about a week and said I could shoot him a text 😁 or give him a call if necessary... I actually quite like my doctor; he seems to know exactly what he's doing. 👍

It's great to hear you're doing well! 😁 Just keep at it and try to focus on the positives. 😘

I completely forgot to ask whether I need to take the Xanax daily or just on an as-needed basis... 😕
