Samsung T260HD issues? in Computer Peripherals ·
Please, let me know if anyone actually owns one; I refuse to believe I'm the only person left on earth with this problem 😁

It's becoming a bit urgent 😢 because if this thing uses MPEG4, then there is clearly a major issue with my monitor. If it doesn't, then every single resource I've consulted has been feeding me nothing but misinformation 😢

Does anyone here actually own this monitor?
I could really use some insight...
I was messing around with my settings today and realized I can't seem to pick up any local HD channels. I can pull in signals from neighboring states, but I'm mostly just getting audio—and even that is hit or miss. Sometimes I just get an "HD not supported" error message. As far as I understand, this monitor is equipped with an MPEG4 tuner, so the whole situation is quite baffling. On top of that, when I power it on to use it like a TV, it occasionally fails to load the channel immediately. It just displays "mono," forcing me to switch to a different channel and then back again just to get a signal.
Do I need to take this to a repair shop?

Thomas Roberts9 said:Goodness, there is quite a bit of unnecessary panic in this thread 😉

I recently dealt with some rectal discharge myself (about 2-3 tablespoons consistently, though it ebbed and flowed a bit). I went to see my doctor, and they explained that while discharge can be concerning, it isn't always an indicator of something dire; it could simply be a minor inflammatory issue. Of course, you can't really diagnose yourself through an online forum, so your best bet is to schedule an appointment with a gastroenterologist. You might need a colonoscopy, or perhaps you won't, but it could also just be something as common as hemorrhoids causing mucus production...

And one more thing—everyone, we are discussing discharge from the large intestine!! What on earth has gotten into you all to start bringing up chlamydia or "other STDs" in this context? 😂

google it 😉

Keep in mind that chlamydia and several other STIs don't always present with painful symptoms.
Go see a doctor; please don't try to play amateur medic with this.

Go see a doctor. It could be anything from chlamydia to who knows what else.
Noah Gray4 said:I actually heard from this really prominent ophthalmology professor that laser surgery isn't always the luckiest move to make, because you might get a good twenty years out of it, but nobody truly knows what the long-term consequences are yet, and I've even heard that in some cases people experience progressive vision loss or even blindness toward the end of their lives 😢
this was observed in patients who had surgery back in the 80s over in Russia when laser tech was still in its infancy.
I'm not trying to start a panic here, but it's definitely better to hold off for a little while longer.
My eye doctor actually advised me to just keep wearing contacts for as long as my eyes can handle them.
In my opinion, laser surgery is really meant for people with extreme nearsightedness like -10 or higher, where those folks seriously don't have much to lose 🤷

I am inclined to agree...
Well, other methods are being utilized as well... here is the link. If you aren't fluent in Russian, just click "English" in the top right corner 🙂 http://www.mntk.spb.ru/

To be honest, this thread about laser eye surgery completely caught me off guard. I actually sent this link to a friend who is planning a trip to Russia later this month. While I have considered getting corrective surgery myself at some point, I am now feeling quite certain that I would pass... unless, perhaps, this latest method becomes standard practice.

It seems more prudent to wait until the technology has fully matured.

For context, my prescription is roughly -5.5 or something in that ballpark.
A friend of mine is entering his sixth month now. The total cost is going to be a staggering $2,650

For me, nothing works quite like Ketorol. I’ve tried Voltaren Rapid, too, but it tends to be a bit harsh on my stomach.
I started taking birth control pills nearly a year ago, and while they only seem to provide a marginal reduction in pain, I suppose even a slight improvement is something. 😢

Dealing with painful periods in Women's Health ·
Even on the pill, I’m still dealing with some serious pain. It’s a bit more manageable, if I'm being honest, but it’s still quite intense. 😢 (And my periods are lighter, sure, but they are nowhere near the tiny little amounts some friends claim they experience while on them...) 😢

I’m planning on visiting Dr. Harrison at Mayo Clinic. A few friends of mine have gone there and were quite satisfied with the results.
Does anyone happen to know the standard fee for a consultation, or how long the wait times usually are? Specifically, how far in advance should I be calling to schedule an appointment?
What actually drives human behavior? in Psychology ·
Nothing new here. ☕
Well, that is precisely what psychoanalytic theory entails—Freud’s pleasure principle... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleasure_principle_(psychology)

How exactly is it supposedly ruining the last century of psychology, if it has managed to persist as a foundational theory for that long? 😬
Carol Lee4 said:I am admittedly out of the loop regarding the current state of affairs at the Harvard Psychology Department. My understanding is limited to the fact that prior to the 90s, their programs didn't hold much weight in Western Europe, though I have no idea what the landscape looks like today.

The system is moving toward the Bologna standards, so I assume credentials will be recognized all across Europe...
Carol Lee4 said:Choosing a specific profession or field of study can actually function as a form of therapy for certain individuals—some people gravitate toward specific careers, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, or clergy, due to their own psychological struggles. We often recognize them as "poor therapists," "bad priests," or, to borrow your phrasing, "people who possess more severe psychological issues than their patients."🤣

I would argue that this approach could actually be beneficial. Those who have navigated significant personal hardships often possess a heightened capacity for empathy regarding their clients' struggles. For instance, someone who survived a turbulent adolescence might find themselves better equipped to support teenagers later in life.🙂
I didn't even realize they were trying to channel Freud... 😛
Though, honestly, what does one child psychiatrist know? She once had me draw my family along with some other random subject. Based on that single drawing—and mind you, I can actually draw quite well, I just struggled with hands so I drew them partially hidden behind my body—she concluded I was suffering from emotional castration because of how I'd sketched those hands. 😕
Utterly ridiculous. 😁
bzvz 🙄
My previous psychiatrist was actually quite excellent. I do have a general grievance with practitioners who reach for the prescription pad too quickly when it isn't strictly necessary... though, since I haven't personally experienced that, I can't say for certain. I also had two psychiatrists who left a bad taste in my mouth: one because our sessions felt entirely aimless, and another because she insisted adults can't have ADHD. That kind of antiquated view just proves how often professionals fail to keep up with modern clinical standards. However, I did appreciate the medical rigor of the one I saw previously. He was a true legend—a genuine intellectual, incredibly well-read, and highly educated. We could pivot seamlessly from discussing the state of the US economy to the most trivial matters. 🙂 As for psychologists, they are fine as well. Depending on their specific school of therapy, I've found some to be rather grating with their obsession with digging through one's past... but overall, they're acceptable. 😛

Why am I under the persistent impression that I read somewhere that the recipe for Coca-Cola remains a mystery to this day? (I mean the exact specifics, obviously; the primary ingredients are public knowledge).😁

😕 Why is that?

Personally, I find Brita to be perfectly fine. Initially, the filtered water tasted rather unpleasant, but I have since adjusted to it and find it quite acceptable.
