Mind-body connection? in Health ·
But that’s precisely the point of those pills, shadowgardener12... they aren't meant to be a permanent fix, just a way for her to navigate this difficult stretch and eventually find her footing again.

Well, restlessmarlin6, I actually went to see that therapist of yours, and guess what I walked away with? 😉 Lexapro. Plus Ambien, because this insomnia caused by everything lately has been absolutely draining me.

I just took my first dose of the Lexapro and... I’m feeling a bit drowsy, so perhaps the Ambien won't even be necessary after all. As of right now, I’m not experiencing any strange side effects. 😁
Perhaps this would be an appropriate space to share a contact number for psychological support:

1-800-273-8255

If anyone finds themselves navigating a crisis... I’ve reached out to a helpline once or twice myself (one of those times was via a payphone when I was quite young 🙂), and I found it to be genuinely helpful... There you go.

The link you shared says:

When treating with Xanax, we have to taper off gradually because stopping abruptly can trigger withdrawal symptoms. This tapering process is long-term; for instance, if you are taking 0.5 mg in the morning, 0.5 mg at noon, and 1 mg at night, we recommend reducing the total daily dose by no more than 0.5 mg every three days.

...which honestly gave me a bit of a scare. It doesn't sound entirely harmless...

Still, a 0.5 mg reduction shouldn't be too devastating. I'll check in with my doctor to get her take...

I saw on some American websites that you need a prescription, so I assumed it was the same here... Are you certain you can just pick it up without one?I’d rather not feel like an idiot walking into a pharmacy asking for Person only to have the pharmacist demand a script...😉

Oh, yes... you’re truly a model citizen, restlessmarlin6, seeing as how you immediately took decisive action regarding your little situation... I applaud you! You rushed straight to the doctor, then off to the psychiatrist... Unlike me, who spent far too much time procrastinating. Truly, bravo!👍
Everything will turn out fine 😘

I have two questions:

Is it possible for a general practitioner to prescribe Person? Also, is this medication habit-forming?

Actually... make that three questions. 😁 Here is the third:

restlessmarlin6, which psychiatrist did you see? Yours sounds perfectly reasonable, and I think I might need to seek help myself; I’ve been hit by another anxiety attack, though thankfully this one was a bit milder than the last.

Why are you so hesitant to just name the diagnosis? There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of... Honestly, I was once labeled with "neurosis" myself during a visit to a psychiatrist.

I haven't personally been to Modus, but someone mentioned them here on the health board, so it stuck in my mind while I was considering seeing a psychologist myself... 🙂 BTW, that person mentioned they thought the services were free.

I am not sure how old you are, but near Times Square, there is that psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents (I can't recall the exact name) — I went there when I was about 16, and later again at 20, and it was perfectly fine. 🙂 Back then, you could even get in without a referral if someone was having trouble getting one, and they were quite decent... Don't let the fear of seeing a psychiatrist hold you back; the idea that psychiatrists are only for people who are "crazy"... 😁 That is nonsense. Psychologists and psychiatrists have slightly different approaches, but it doesn't really matter where you go (unless you are dealing with a more severe disorder that requires medication to regulate a chemical imbalance or some other issue), the important thing is simply to go somewhere and begin that process of "restoring" your emotions and thoughts...

restlessmarlin6 said:I’ve been reading up on anxiety... Honestly, I’ve never really struggled with self-actualization, social interactions, or public speaking (though perhaps deep down there's something there I haven't realized yet). Everything feels relatively fine, except for this constant dread regarding terminal illnesses 😁 and some physical symptoms..

Actually, anxiety isn't limited to just that... An anxiety disorder is essentially driven by FEAR. I don't necessarily think you have a full-blown disorder, but rather that you're experiencing an episode (I went through something similar myself, dealing with those same intrusive thoughts and irrational fears...). Take a look at what falls under the umbrella of anxiety here:

While electricdriver78 shared her perspective, which I respect, I still believe it would be wise to go get a checkup just to put your mind at ease; my own doctor gave me that exact same advice. It helped me immensely because it allowed me to face my fears with a bit of much-needed levity. 🙂

It is highly probable that neither you nor I possess a fully developed anxiety disorder; instead, some form of stress likely acted as a trigger for this specific episode. It is vital to take action immediately before this escalates. For me, prayer was SERIOUSLY helpful. 🙂

Hang in there.

vividmarlin5, if you happen to be in Washington, D.C., and feel too awkward to ask your primary care physician for a referral, you might consider reaching out to the American Psychological Association—specifically their Modus center.
Take a look at this site:

Casey Palmer5, please send me a PM as well; I'm also on the hunt for a gynecologist...

restlessmarlin6, you should really come check out our thread on "Anxiety"... I know exactly what you’re going through because I’ve been there myself. Even now, those intrusive thoughts pop up occasionally, though they aren't quite as overwhelming as they used to be. I recently had some blood work done and was absolutely terrified of what the results might show, but everything turned out fine, thank God. Now I'm planning to head in for a few more checkups just to finally put those worries to rest. Honestly, I’d recommend doing the same; it helps settle the nerves, and besides, getting a routine physical once in a while is just good practice regardless.
Quick question about credit cards in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
How strange... I ran into an issue where it wouldn't accept my information when I tried to use it. Wait, is this the American, USA, or German version of eBay? I suspect there might be some differences between them...
Quick question about credit cards in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Look, I am fully aware of who 😁 is, but I went ahead and opened my own account specifically to gather feedback. My intention is to sell this through my own profile... I fail to see what the issue is here. 😕

Jason Wells4 said:Why on earth would you need a credit card if you're selling on eBay?

The primary one (which isn't mine) is already linked to an eBay account, so I can't use it... ===> what is that supposed to mean?

You need a card when selling on eBay because you have to cover their various service fees... I don't have the exact breakdown memorized, but it's all laid out clearly on the eBay website. As far as I am aware, once a specific credit card is registered to one eBay user, it cannot be used to register a different user's account.
Mia said:The official name is Boys & Girls Clubs of America. They offer both group sessions and one-on-one counseling. You can reach them at 4621 554, and they are generally available from 9 AM to 5 PM. As far as I am aware, their services are free, though I would suggest verifying that. They might have their own website, or perhaps a listing under the American Psychological Association.

Thank you, Mia. 🙂 I managed to find the site here:
Gerald Adams said:My mother happens to be a psychologist, and her suggestion was to look into the Modus Child, Youth and Family Center located downtown; they operate under the umbrella of the Psychological Help Society. They have professionals on staff who are quite prepared to listen and offer support. If you happen to have a referral from a physician, you could also consult a psychiatrist or psychologist at the Psychological Medicine Clinic, or perhaps see a psychiatrist at a local Community Health Center—though I’d recommend checking around other community clinics as well.

What exactly is the nature of this center? Who is it intended for? And, more importantly, what are the costs involved?
Unquenchable thirst in Health ·
I’ve developed a fever and was experiencing some tremors, so that likely explains the physical instability...😕 However, I am also feeling incredibly depressed; I can't stop crying. It’s quite overwhelming. To make matters worse, I started reading up on various symptoms online and have somehow managed to convince myself I have every possible ailment. I feel completely lost in my own head.😢 😢
A classic case of hypochondria. 🙄
My blood pressure seems fine. I plan to schedule some blood work once this fever breaks. Oh, and I haven't eaten much... I tried eating something earlier, but it left me feeling quite faint. My mother insists it is just a standard viral infection or the flu—she is a registered nurse, after all—and tells me to calm down. But I feel absolutely terrible.😢 🙂 🙂 I simply cannot find any sense of calm...
Unquenchable thirst in Health ·
I have been dealing with constant thirst all day; I can’t seem to stop drinking water. To make matters worse, my tongue looks white and coated. I am aware that I need to get some bloodwork done to rule out issues with my blood sugar, but... what else could this be? Aside from that, I feel fine, though I haven't been sleeping well lately and have been navigating quite a bit of stress and anxiety.

Help😢
