Is that something a doctor has to prescribe, or can I just grab it over the counter at a pharmacy?😬

No, you need a doctor for that, obviously.
It manages bleeding in a way similar to birth control pills, except it isn't actually used for contraception.

Dana Miller2 said:It’s not even a medical issue, it's just how nature works. There isn't anything to "fix" because menopause will eventually take care of all that for you.😁 Until then, consider yourself lucky that you aren't dealing with the kind of agonizing pain some of my friends go through.

Yeah, well, heavy bleeding and those nasty cramps are basically just muscle spasms caused by your hormones being totally out of whack. You might be able to take the edge off with some B vitamins or magnesium—if I remember correctly—right before your cycle hits, or maybe try hormone therapy.
Or, honestly? Just chill out and stop stressing over it.
Lie down, wrap yourself in a cozy blanket, and just binge some TV.
If you're one of those hyperactive types, just throw on a diaper and go for a hike. Staying active actually helps regulate things.

Just take something mild, or at least some Advil.

Good grief, you’re using Always and then acting confused about why they aren't cutting it.

Just switch to Libresse Night.

hire them.
Honestly, that constant feeling of being totally fed up and miserable with how things are? That’s usually the exact fuel you need. It’s that raw frustration that finally kicks your ass into gear and forces you to actually change your life for the better.

Walter Morris3 said:Man, this thing hit me on Tuesday and I literally just crawled out of bed today. I’ve never had a fever hit me this hard before—I was sitting at 102 for two nights straight, and it was such a struggle to get it down. I haven't slept basically at all for four days because this brutal dry cough keeps me up, and whenever I try to lie down, I feel like I can't breathe. I called my doctor yesterday and explained everything, and she told me it’s probably just sinus drainage dripping down into my windpipe when I lie flat. She suggested I drink at least three liters of tea a day to help with the congestion and hopefully stop the choking feeling. But last night, I only managed about two hours of sleep before that suffocating feeling came back. I ended up spending the whole night sitting up instead of lying down because it’s the only way I can actually catch my breath. It’s driving me absolutely craaaaazy.😲I just want to sleep, but it’s impossible. My appetite hasn't even come back yet; I can't even think about eating actual meals, I'm barely managing some fruit. I don't think I've ever felt this wiped out from the flu before. Are you guys dealing with all this too?

For the runny nose, grab some nasal drops and some DayQuil.
And honestly, the tea thing is legit. I couldn't eat anything else, so I just lived off tea in massive amounts and it actually helped.
Also, homemade chicken soup is a lifesaver. 👍

That’s exactly what happened to me last time. I’m actually too nervous to touch them now, and even after two weeks, I still don't feel quite right.😕
Is it even possible for this to linger for that long?

That’s all because of the pseudoephedrine—it hits you just like caffeine does.

My head is absolutely killing me too, though I finally got some relief after taking some DayQuil.
It’s totally possible those are just sinus issues.
Try doing some steam inhalations and honestly, just wear a hat everywhere.😁

fadedhound69 said:Walter, I totally get that the flu is viral and antibiotics won't fix it. My point is, is it even normal to be running a fever for five whole days? I honestly can't tell if it's just a standard virus or if something more serious is going on. I remember last year when I went to the doctor after being sick for a few days, they told me that was the sign I needed antibiotics and exactly which day I should have started them.

You aren't just going to go out and grab antibiotics on your own.
The way it works is, you'll know if it's bacterial if that mucus from your nose or the stuff you're coughing up stops being clear and turns yellow or green.
Anyway, the general rule is you head to the doctor if that fever doesn't break after three days.

fadedhound69 said:I mean, who knows if it's actually passing😕 . Either way, I didn't hit up the doctor today, so I'll just see how things play out until Monday. If I'm still sitting here with a 100.4 fever, I'm pretty sure I'll need those antibiotics. Usually, they wait about three days before prescribing them, right?

Look, you only get antibiotics if a bacterial infection hitches a ride on top of a viral one—like if you're bedridden and end up developing pneumonia or something. But the flu? It's a VIRAL illness. Purely viral. You can't kill a virus with antibiotics. All you can do is manage the misery with antipyretics and pain relievers (stuff like DayQuil, Aspirin, Lupocet, or Maxflu) to deal with the symptoms, like the high fever, the headache, and the runny nose.

What happened to you? How did you even react? 😲

It went by relatively fast for me (assuming it was actually the flu), mostly thanks to chugging massive amounts of rosehip tea with honey and lemon 🙏 🙏 along with some homemade soup.
I was also taking DayQuil twice a day and using some nasal drops.

Good grief, I totally overdid it.
I mean, obviously, it’s a blast filming yourself just to see if anyone's watching—assuming you don't have anything actually productive to do with your life, anyway. 🤣

Honestly, we could probably just split the entire population into two main camps (unless someone else has already done the math):
1. Introverts (they couldn't care less about social dynamics and wouldn't notice if they were being stared at by some attractive guy/girl) and
2. Extroverts (social dynamics are their whole world; they've basically mastered the art of catching someone else's eye)
😁

Donna Campbell6 said:But how are you even supposed to notice some cute guy checking you out if you're stuck inside your own head? Like, what are you even doing for yourself in that moment anyway?😕

Look, I’ve got social intelligence baked right into my DNA. It's just how I was built.
Look, when I’m actually ready to deal with some kids, then maybe I'll let them into my line of sight and just surrender myself to whatever social dynamics happen. Until then? Leave me out of it.
Meanwhile, I’ve got much bigger fires to put out.

Donna Campbell6 said:So you're telling me you're missing out on catching a glimpse of some hot kids?😲

Oh, sure. Typical. Just when you think you've finally got a handle on things, someone drops an "aha" like they just solved cold fusion or discovered fire. Give me a break. It’s always the same thing with people—acting like they’ve stumbled onto some massive epiphany when really, they're just being smug. Honestly, I don't have the patience for this kind of attitude today. My coffee is already cold, my morning commute was a nightmare, and now I have to deal with this? Unbelievable.
I honestly can’t focus on two things at once. It’s impossible. Trying to deal with my own life while simultaneously tracking all the social dynamics around me? Forget it. My brain just hits a wall. One minute I'm trying to get my own act together, and the next, I'm getting sucked into everyone else's drama or trying to read the room, and suddenly I've completely lost my train of thought. It's exhausting.

Donna Campbell6 said:I mean, come on, you've clearly dropped at least 12 or 13 posts here already...

Because I care about MY OWN damn content! I’m here to fix MY own problems. I couldn't care less about some social dynamic, God forbid.

placidranger said:If he truly didn't care, he’d be perfectly content in his own head—he wouldn't feel... well, I'm quoting him here: "like a complete idiot because a flood of information is rushing past me and I'm not catching any of it," or "sometimes I get this irritating feeling like I'm disconnected from the group."

And honestly, I suspect that stuff becomes a lot more interesting once you start studying it. Humans are pack animals; we're hardwired to obsess over other people and the messy web of relationships between us.

Yeah, I get it. He just isn't picking up on the "vibes" coming from the world around him.
But first thing's first: he needs to figure out which signals actually matter.
Because honestly, you can't process everything—there's no point in trying.
He's gotta learn how to filter out all that useless, repetitive noise. 😁

crimsongull20 said:As far as I'm concerned, social dynamics are fine as long as they happen to someone else (and leave me alone). 😁

Exactly. People who obsess over "social dynamics" are usually just people who don't have enough going on in their own lives.
I honestly don't have the energy to waste even thinking about what's going on with everyone else's little social games.
