I don't mind seeing animal blood at all, it's just human stuff that gets to me... one look at an actual wound or anything too heavy and I have to look away immediately. I'm totally fine sitting in a dentist's chair without any nerves, but once they actually start working on me, it’s pretty much game over. I have this little trick where if I start feeling that wave of weakness hitting, I just tell them to stop for a second until I find my footing, and then we can get back to the drilling and cutting... Other than that, I'm as healthy as can be...
Matthew Anderson said:I don't really see how you become a "lesser" member just because your posts aren't being counted, even if what you're writing is solid... since when did a post count actually define someone's value on a forum like this?
Well, for some people, it definitely does... you see folks who are practically permanent fixtures here but somehow have zero posts recorded, and then there are those who judge everyone else based strictly on their numbers... I'm curious if it doesn't look that way from your moderator perspective...
Joseph Howard said:If the number of posts doesn't matter, then why isn't everything being counted in those specific subforums?
Honestly, I have no clue who came up with such a ridiculous rule in the first place... one minute everything is being tracked, then someone decides to do a "cleanup" and cuts the counts in half, then they stop counting off-topic chatter, and now we're back to doubling the post counts again...
I really think we should just let the counter do its job regardless of what anyone is typing... and besides, I wonder what all this obsession with counting actually means to you guys when you're constantly fighting with the system anyway... or maybe it's just about separating the users who actually bring something meaningful to the table and help the community grow from the ones who are just dragging everything down... isn't that ultimately what "value" is all about...
That’s just nonsense... there's always some fluff on every single thread, so counting those distractions is part of the game, really. If people only hang out in threads where everything is strictly counted, they end up looking like they aren't even contributing much to the community at all. Some topics are honestly just meant for laughs anyway. I actually got called out myself not too long ago on a serious discussion because someone claimed I didn't have anything useful to say since I was posting in a secondary thread
Andrew Booth29 said:On a global scale, America’s water reserves are practically negligible—almost insignificant, really. Besides, over 90% of our water consumption goes straight to agriculture, and let’s face it: desalination is actually cheaper than trying to transport water from elsewhere (assuming we even have enough to move). If you honestly believe someone is going to trade gold bullion just to get 20 liters of water to grow a single head of lettuce, then you are seriously mistaken. Our geographic positioning isn't exactly a winning hand either. Honestly, people need to finally toss those outdated textbooks from thirty years ago into the trash.
But where exactly is that happening? Are we talking about the whole world or just here in the States? Those numbers seem wild... even if that much is being used, about 50% of that water eventually finds its way back into the underground systems anyway...

I honestly don't get why everyone is pushing back, because change is happening everywhere these days, and maybe we'll actually end up with a more modern forum... 🙂
so what kind of monitor are you running? i'm stuck using a netbook and I'm definitely not loving it, though maybe rustymaker5 is rocking a 30-inch screen and thinks that's the standard, but really only fools settle for anything smaller than that...
It’s honestly wild how every single website on the planet manages to play nice with every different browser and screen resolution out there... yet when it comes to this forum, the responsibility for making things look right just falls entirely on the individual user. It’s pretty unbelievable...
Sarah Turner42 said:I think their policy over there is probably set up so that some kind of automated filter handles all that unwanted content...🤔
Nobody's actually filtering anything... Most users are running wide screens these days, leaving nothing but empty ad space on the sides, and yet coppersailor28 is sitting there expecting to see some kind of profit from it... 😕 It’s getting even more chaotic now, especially with those constant ads popping up right in the middle of my feed...
Oh, my dear Andrew Taylor13... you've been making some seriously questionable calls for years now. Just take a look at what his main website actually looks like. He hasn't touched the design in over a decade...
And then he has the nerve to complain about how hard it is to make money, yet he refuses to walk away from the job. Because of course, he's always been all about chasing that paycheck...
I really think it’s doable... You might want to double-check with Tyndall just to be safe, since you have to reach out to him about those changes anyway...
Since my username is basically my real identity, I’m worried about privacy leaks and people figuring out who I actually am... would it be possible to get an exception to the rules? Maybe I could use a handle that isn't so obviously linked to me...
No. Just try being a little creative and resourceful by coming up with something that feels similar to what you have now—maybe just using a small part of it...😉
Just give your avatar a quick left-click and you'll see a little menu pop up with a few different options, including one to find more posts from them...

Is there any way I could just hire a firm to handle everything—the sourcing, customs, shipping, all of it—without having to deal with the middleman myself? Like, can they just send me the final invoice so I can decide if the whole thing actually makes sense for my budget? Please, help a guy out here.🙂
It’s possible, sure, but don't expect anyone to just hand over every single little thing you ask for... they're only going to give you the basic info...
