Group C, the final tallies:

Nigeria 1:2 South Africa
Burundi 2:4 Botswana
South Africa 3:1 Burundi
Botswana 0:2 Nigeria
South Africa 1:0 Botswana
Nigeria 4:0 Burundi

I suppose Botswana managed to clinch a quarterfinal spot in their very first appearance here. 🙏

The quarterfinal matchups are set:

July 13th. Morocco vs Botswana
July 13th. Zambia vs Senegal
July 14th. South Africa vs Tunisia
July 14th. Cameroon vs Nigeria
Group B standings:

Cameroon 0:0 Zambia
Tunisia 4:1 Togo
Zambia 1:0 Tunisia
Togo 1:1 Cameroon
Cameroon 2:0 Tunisia
Zambia 4:1 Togo

We finally have our first quarterfinal matchup. It looks like Zambia will be facing off against Senegal, which I guess marks their very first time ever making it out of the group stage. The Tunisian side also managed to advance—they were one of those two lucky third-place teams—so this is apparently their first time playing in a quarterfinal, too. 👍
Group A standings and scores:

Morocco 1, Burkina Faso 0
Senegal 2, Uganda 0
Burkina Faso 0, Senegal 1
Uganda 1, Morocco 3
Morocco 1, Senegal 0
Burkina Faso 2, Uganda 2

Since they split the points in that final match, I guess neither Burkina Faso nor Uganda stands a chance at making the quarterfinals. It seems unlikely they'll land in those top two spots among the best third-place finishers.

I suppose it’s just unfortunate when you go through the trouble of winning a continental championship, only to find out you still haven't actually secured an automatic spot in the World Cup.🤷

brightlynx5 said:The seeding in these qualifiers wasn't an accident. Haiti absolutely dismantled the favorites, Mexico, with a 3-0 win.

Though, I guess we should mention those first two goals came from penalties, and then Mexico picked up a red card. It’s also worth noting that the US was the first team to clinch a World Cup berth by making it to the semifinals.👍
I suppose we could probably add one more tournament to our tracking list here, seeing as everything else besides the Euros is already gathered in one place.🙂

OFC Women's Nations Cup
July 13th - July 30th

Host: Fiji

Group A
Tonga
Cook Islands
Samoa

Group B
Papua New Guinea
Tahiti
Vanuatu

Group C
Fiji
New Caledonia
Solomon Islands

The top two third-place teams will round out the quarterfinal matchups. Unfortunately, winning doesn't grant an automatic ticket to the World Cup since New Zealand is hosting part of the World Cup, so they’ll just get a spot in the intercontinental play-off instead.
A little fun fact: Historically, this trophy has only been won by New Zealand (6 times), Australia (3 times), and Chinese Taipei (2 times). Since none of those teams are actually participating this year, I guess we're due for a brand new champion.😁

Naturally, I'll be watching. My money is on Morocco to take it all.👍

We saw something similar back in 1989 between the Netherlands and Uruguay, though the Dutch couldn't quite make the timing work. 🕺 Anyway, this is basically a matchup between the current champions of Europe and the champions of South America. They’ve already agreed to hold two more matches in 2024 and 2028, and there are even talks about doing the same for the women's national teams. 👍

I might as well leave this here since I brought it up earlier. 👍

Quote : Following The success of The Finals, UEFA and CONMEBOL have announced a series of New events involving women's football, futsal and Youth teams from The Two confederations....

The youth team of Club Atletico Penarol from Uruguay (winners of the 2022 CONMEBOL U-20 Copa Libertadores) will face S.L. Benfica from Portugal (winners of the 2022 UEFA Youth League) at the iconic Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay, on 21.08.2022.

The winners of the 2022 UEFA Futsal EURO, Portugal, and the third-placed team Spain will contest a Final four tournament with The CONMEBOL Copa America de futsal winners Argentina and runners-up Paraguay AT The Movistar arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina, between 16.-18.09.2022.

Finally, once the winners of the UEFA Women's euro 2022 to be played in July in England and The winners of the 2022 CONMEBOL Copa America Femenina which will be staged in July in Colombia, are known, a UEFA-CONMEBOL Women's Finals will be planned in Europe , with The dates ( during and International window ) and location of the event to be announced in due course.

UEFA and CONMEBOL have also agreed to continue with The exchange of referees for a variety of competitions and referees.
Lionel Messi has been officially named Man of the Match 👍 🎉 🎉

That attempt by Di Maria was... something 🙏

And here we go again 🙏 Playing games with the Italian-Americans.

It was almost both Giovani Lo Celso and Lionel Messi! If only Leonardo Bonucci had scored that own goal... 🤣 It’s pure Madden NFL, or so the commentator claims. 🙏 🙏
What an absolute clinic for that 2-0 goal, just clinical 🙏 🙏 🙏 And there goes 😍 still Di Maria with the lob

The Italian-American offense is 🤣 — though I guess the defense isn't much better either.

They played back in '85 and '93—now they've brought the competition back.

Are you suggesting they tried to hand the victory to the Spanish man but ultimately failed? 😉
Exactlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy 🙏 🙏 🙏
Sweden finally sitting on top of Europe 🎉 🎉 🙂 🙂

Casilda, what's the problem? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Larry Walker24 said:Carol Walker and Carol Martinez50—as far as I can tell, Casilda is the only one hosting the pdf Eurovision.

The moderators are soundvision, KLCCLK, TheWitch, Casilda, and Altairfan. Three of them are actually active on the pdf Eurovision, where they both write and moderate.

Just to set the record straight regarding that little inaccuracy in your first sentence here: "Please remove my partial access to the PDF Eurovision (where I have zero posts)"—well, you actually have seven comments spread across six different threads over there. It’s probably not great to lie about it. 👎
Casilda, what's the problem? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Casilda is honestly the best moderator any user could ask for, and they contribute more to this subforum than anyone else. The second you put their name right in the thread title, it becomes pretty obvious that you have a personal vendetta against them specifically, rather than an issue with the moderation team as a whole—especially since there are five other mods in that section. I’ve been on this forum for three years now, and nobody else has complained about them once, so I guess we can just conclude the problem lies with you.

Besides, I’m fairly certain the moderators actually listen to what the users over in the Eurovision section think of you, and I wouldn't be surprised if they take that into account when deciding whether or not to move your partitions. Calling out House by name in the title isn't exactly the brilliant tactical move you think it is, particularly if you actually want to get what you're after.
