Every single one of his four goals came exactly when we needed them most—either while we were shorthanded or under heavy pressure. Plus, he was perfect from the field. Pure efficiency.
Did you catch how clearly he explained it? He wasn't criticizing him because he thinks he's bad. He was calling him out specifically because he knows just how much talent he actually has. It’s a compliment, really. ☕
Kudos to the guys. I really appreciate the consistency here. Since we committed to the unification—which was absolutely the right move to make—it only makes sense to show some solidarity with the Bad News Bears today. Like someone pointed out over at the Corner, it would be incredibly disrespectful and cheap to celebrate on their turf while they’re being forcibly kept away.
Anyway, I won't ramble on too long. This is a huge win. 🙏
Don't judge this thread solely by the number of posts. For instance, I read through other leagues and current news whenever I happen to be online, but I don't bother posting because I'm not actually watching the games. There's really no point in commenting if you aren't tuned in.
Our biggest issue when playing against the French is entirely mental. It’s the unforced turnovers, missing wide open shots (in handball, for God's sake!), and just firing straight at Omeyer. That same guy, Omeyer, consistently makes over 15 saves against us, even though he's usually impossible to beat. Against the Germans, he barely had two or three saves. 🤷
That psychological barrier can be broken, but I honestly doubt someone as clueless as Goluzov can grasp it. The French aren't invincible—not based on their performance in the last two tournaments.
With a bit of common sense in the coaching staff, we could definitely take down the French. We had the chance back in London, but instead, some guy from the French bench just hammered home four goals in a row using the exact same tactic. Duvnjak completely crumbled under the pressure, yet Ivano, who should be the smartest guy in this generation, stays glued to that bench through the entire crisis.

It seems we have a lot of tactical experts and big thinkers in this thread. I’m fairly certain most of them would have been the first ones calling for strict morality and fair play at the Olympics if it involved Chinese badminton players or Spanish basketball teams.

bring out the roosters so we can slaughter them. let's go! ☕
I’m right there with you. What were we supposed to do, throw the game on purpose? Seriously? I’d much rather take a beating from the French than play these shady games just to hope for a better bracket later. ☕
I’m officially joining the call to bring out the roosters. ☕
I have to admit, I don't follow women's sports very closely. Since this is an Olympic year, I decided to base my votes strictly on that criterion. That means the US Women's National Handball Team gets my vote. 🤷
If my memory serves me right, that quarterfinal exit was a real heartbreak. Our star player ended up getting injured 🤔
