Hey there. I am actually going to die from the sheer noise this power supply is making. It’s some cheap junk I picked up from Micro Center—honestly, I can't even remember which specific model it was, just one of those bottom-tier ones. $40 What did they pull on me after everything fried? Just a quick heads-up—whenever the clouds roll in and I hear even a hint of thunder, I have to kill the power to my PC immediately. The electricity starts jumping around like crazy the second things get stormy. 😳 Look, I’ve gotta say, a UPS is just way too steep for me right now. I need something that actually works—something stable and decent—but we're talking around the 400W range. That's it. $133.
I'm mulling this over: So, I was looking at this super silent Tagan 400W... maybe? It’s one of those units that claims to be whisper-quiet, which honestly sounds like a pipe dream most of the time. I guess we've all been burned by "silent" hardware before, right? Still, there's something about that specific Tagan 400W Corsair 400W combo that just sticks in my head. Probably just wishful thinking on my part. So, I was looking at that Corsair 400W again. Honestly, it’s just one of those things that makes you wonder where we're all headed. It’s fine, I guess, if you aren't trying to power a small city or anything, but you know how it is. You think you've got a solid setup, then reality hits you. Maybe it'll hold up, maybe it won't. Who knows? Life's full of disappointments like that.
What’s the move here if I want to avoid that annoying buzzing sound? I really just want to hear my components doing their thing and not some loud-ass power supply whining at me. Maybe there's a better option out there?
I’m wondering if suddenly jumping back into a workout routine can actually cause a period to be about 10 days late. I basically sat on the couch for three years straight, and then out of nowhere, I started hitting the gym twice a week for a month. I mean, everything else feels like a win, but my body is definitely not cooperating here.
I mean, I was totally expecting something along the lines of Schindler’s List, but honestly, this wasn't half bad either. Those little boys just completely broke me... and that ending? Yeah, I definitely couldn't keep it together. Such a beautiful movie.
Look, I’m not exactly some die-hard sports fanatic or anything, but I just have this thing where I love watching movies if I know Clint Eastwood was behind them. Honestly? He didn't disappoint, even though my expectations were pretty high. And Morgan Freeman was just incredible—for a second there, I actually forgot it was him 😁 All in all, it’s definitely worth a watch... though that haka dance? Total madness!

The internet says that in the scene where he heads over to the apartment, there are all these continuity errors like seeing modern cars on the street and stuff... but I totally missed all of that.
So, I went back and watched that scene again, and I mean, I really looked, but I don't see any cars that look out of place for that era. If I'm totally missing something, please, someone, set me straight.
Anyway, I actually liked the movie. I’m not really in the mood to write some massive, deep-dive essay here, but I think the whole point was just how easy it is to slip up, no matter how smart or brilliant you think you are. She was naive, I guess. You show her exactly what she wants, and she'll follow it anywhere—especially since school probably felt like a total drag after her dad spent all that time breathing down her neck to get straight A's.
All in all, it's worth a watch, though it definitely isn't for everyone.

It was hard, and I felt so bad doing it, like I was looking at him with this pathetic, pitying expression like some kind of freak 😂 ...but I'm still young, and I have my whole life ahead of me. Still, knowing how dependent I am on this stuff... it just gets me down. Like, seeing other girls go hit the beach and swim while I can't because I'm wearing my hearing aids... or seeing women just throw their hair up on a bad hair day without a second thought, while I can't even do that because it would show the devices. Or when I can't even lean on him because my equipment starts beeping... it just ruins my mood instantly.
Man, tell me about it. Honestly, summer is probably the worst time of year for me because of all this stuff. You want to just bundle up your hair, head down to the coast with your friends, and actually live a little... but nope. Everyone else is just out there laughing and being carefree, and I'm just sitting here on the sidelines. It's depressing, really. Just feels totally isolating.
Yeah, okay, my hair is thick and messy too, and I hardly ever bother tying it up—unless, you know, I'm actually hanging out with people who give a damn about how I look. But since I’ve gone and signed up for these aerobics classes, I have to pull it back... and then there's everyone just standing there, and ugh, that gross sweat. It's honestly the worst 😁
Look, I'm from Miami. And you still haven't told me how old you are or where you're actually from, if you don't mind me asking
^^ haha, yeah, I do the same thing—just pretend I didn't hear them or something (back before I started meeting guys). That would honestly just become an afterthought.
Anyway, let me try to break down everyone's replies here and see how they stack up against my own experience.😁
So, you can't listen to music on an MP3 player? Thank God I figured that out. I use one of those tiny little hearing aids that sits right in the ear canal. Though, honestly, the canal has widened over time so it feels like it's constantly "slipping" out, even if it never actually falls all the way out... it drives me crazy. Anyway, I still have my MP3 player, but I use custom clip-on earphones instead:
And regarding that high-pitched whistling... I had that with my last device. Every time I laughed or stretched my face or something, it would start squealing. It was irritatingly painful. This one is digital (I think, anyway) and doesn't whistle like that, so there's no real fear of whistling when I'm swallowing or whatever, 😁 but man, it really bugs me when the wind blows; those sounds give me a massive headache.
And I have no clue what my actual hearing threshold is.😁
---
Then, there were times when someone would repeat a sentence for the third time, and by then, I felt like I should have already heard or understood what they said, so I'd just give up and say "yeah, yeah..." But the thing is, it's so awkward because I'm nodding along like I get everything, when really I'm being asked a question... To avoid looking stupid, this happened to me just the other day.🤦 People just stare at you waiting for an answer while I'm just sitting there smiling and saying "yeah, yeah."😁 hahaha
---
Of course, I don't want to be dependent on devices or stand out, either. Ugh, gross! I think if we were all together, the sheer chaos and misunderstanding would be so bad we'd all be falling off our chairs laughing.🤣
^^ Ugh, seriously, how many times do I have to tell people I’m not comfortable talking about this? I honestly feel like I’m the only person under sixty out there who relies on a hearing aid. I try so hard to just act like everything is totally normal, you know? But it’s just exhausting when I have to constantly pester people to repeat themselves for the hundredth time, only to have them start making those annoying jokes about me being hard of hearing once I explain why... ugh
^Man, welcome to the club... just a bunch of complexes, people not getting it, and problems being swept under the rug... honestly, we’re old enough now that we really should stop acting so childishly about all this. 😁 It feels like we should all just get together in one room somewhere and actually swap stories.
So, was there some specific moment or situation that felt particularly awkward for you guys because of your hearing?
Honestly, I’m just crossing my fingers that Muse ends up on the lineup, because let’s face it, nothing else really grabs my attention quite like them...
amberheron64 said:Does anyone know where I can find some decent denim jeans—and I mean actually good quality, not that cheap stuff you find at a discount bin or some nameless boutique—for around $30 or $40? 😁 I’m specifically looking for something with a bit of stretch. Honestly, the best pair I've ever owned were these Mustang jeans I bought eight years ago—they used to be a classic straight leg, but I actually had them tailored down into skinny jeans. Even after all this time, they haven't faded or lost their shape at all; I've been wearing them for nearly a decade and they still hold up perfectly.
I mean, honestly? I don't even know where to start with that one. It’s just... yeah. I guess we're really doing this now. Maybe it's just one of those days where nothing makes sense, you know? Just one of those things. Whatever. $67 Man, these ribs are incredible. Seriously. I mean, I guess I shouldn't be surprised because this place is legit, but wow. Just... wow. 👍
I haven't really seen people doing that much around here yet, but honestly, it’s pretty standard once you get out there... I mean, those massive concerts can absolutely wreck your hearing, and the scary part is you don't even realize it's happening until it's too late.😬
I’m trying to wrap my head around what this actually means, specifically how it stacks up against someone with normal hearing:
The tone audiogram shows bilateral moderate hearing loss, with the right ear sitting between 50 and 60dB, and the left between 45 and 60 dB.
The actual loss is 53dB on the right and 56dB on the left.

So, basically, what’s life like for everyone else versus what it's like for me? What's the real difference here? Mind you, this test is from 2006, so I'm planning to get a fresh one done at the start of 2010.
Finally, let's get into this, because honestly, it’s such a struggle finding anyone who actually gets what I mean when I say, "I'm out in public, everyone is talking, but I can't understand a single word they're saying." 😬 It’s basically the same deal for me—I have a hard time following conversations, especially if someone drops a fancy word or some slang that isn't used much. Then you’re just sitting there praying they’ll repeat themselves. And honestly? I’m kind of terrified about what happens when I eventually have kids. I don't want to be that parent constantly asking my own child to repeat themselves i980239483'2 times, especially since I barely catch what kids are saying as it is. For me, it's a mess; I've got nerve damage from an insanely high fever when I was just a few months old.
So, I’m running into this weird headache where I can’t seem to burn my data files onto a CD, even though audio CDs and data DVDs work just fine. It's driving me nuts.
Welcome to the club... Honestly, my waist is the absolute worst part of my body. I’ll find these jeans in a size 36 or 38 that fit my legs perfectly—like, they look amazing—but then the waist? Forget it. I can barely even get the button close, let alone fasten it. So, when I move up to a 40, which is actually my real size, I have to start hunting for pants that won't look like a tent on me. I guess I get lucky sometimes and find those specific cuts that clearly weren't designed for anyone else's body type, so I just snag them when they hit the clearance rack at places like Zara, Benetton, or Dorothy Perkins. That’s pretty much the last time I felt like I actually found a decent fit. Everything else has just been whatever random, no-name brand I could grab off the rack. 😁
