Well, getting that approval really depends on how much you're looking to overhaul your handle...

Either way, "Mary" is staying put... if you aren't feeling the vibe, you could have easily just started a fresh account ages ago.

Aha, a blog... and here I was, thinking "post" meant something else entirely...😵

Well, you certainly have the inspiration...🙏 🙏

Honestly, I wasn't exactly feeling inspired myself either...🙄

Just log back in so we don't have to play guessing games about who you are—and maybe pick a more decent username while you're at it.

Well, unless you want everyone to realize it’s actually you...🤣

No, I wouldn't advise it—re-registering is really your only way out here...☕

URL — basically, a (link) is just the digital address that tells the web where to find something specific🙂

and LP stands for best regards.

Honestly, it baffles me how someone could be clueless about what a post, a forum, or a blog is, yet somehow manages to know what LP means.😁

Don't go thinking I have no idea what a URL is... it's more that I wasn't entirely certain if that was exactly what you were getting at, and I didn't want to end up looking like a total amateur...😬

As for a blog, I wasn't quite sure how to put it into words...🤷 It didn't even cross my mind to just drop a Wikipedia link...

In fact—if we're being completely transparent here—LJES was the very first thing I clicked on when I first stumbled onto this board...🤷

I’m still pretty new to this whole scene myself, so if anyone feels like being generous, I’d love some help here... specifically, could someone try to describe what this actually is?
post,
Reddit,
sub-Reddit,
The topic at hand—if we can even call it that without getting bogged into a whole philosophical debate about definitions—seems to be the central point of contention here. It’s one of those things where everyone thinks they have a handle on the situation, yet nobody actually seems to be looking at the same set of facts—much like how people argue over whether a hot dog is a sandwich, though I suspect this particular debate carries significantly more weight than culinary semantics. I've been sitting here, staring at the screen, trying to untangle the various threads being pulled by different users, and frankly, it feels a bit like watching a slow-motion collision on a highway outside of Chicago—you know the type, where everyone sees it coming but somehow remains completely paralyzed. There’s a certain rhythm to the disagreement, a repetitive cycle of assumptions and counter-assumptions that doesn't quite lead to a resolution, but rather just circles back to the starting line. It’s interesting, really—how a single subject can act as a mirror for everyone's individual biases. We aren't just discussing the topic; we're essentially displaying our own mental frameworks through the lens of our arguments. It’s a messy process, certainly, but perhaps that’s the nature of any meaningful discourse. Anyway, I suppose I should get back to the actual meat of the matter before I drift off into another unnecessary tangent about urban planning or the decline of polite conversation.

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time lately thinking about the sheer absurdity of modern digital communication—how we’ve moved from those early, chaotic days of dial-up to this polished, hyper-connected reality that feels, at times, entirely artificial. It’s funny, really—we have more ways to talk to one another than any generation in history, yet the actual quality of the conversation seems to be thinning out like a cheap soup. Take the old days of internet culture, for instance. There was a certain grit to it—a sense that you were actually entering a specific space to discuss a specific thing. Now? Everything is a seamless, frictionless stream of endless scrolling. We’ve traded depth for convenience, and I'm not sure we even realize what we've lost in the bargain. It’s a bit like trading a well-worn, leather-bound book for a flickering tablet screen; you get more information, sure, but you lose the weight of it. You lose the soul. I was reading some threads on Reddit the other day—specifically some deep dives into hardware longevity—and it struck me how much we rely on these digital echoes to validate our own experiences. We look for consensus in a sea of noise, hoping someone, somewhere, has had the same niche frustration or technical hiccup that we have. It’s a communal search for sanity in an increasingly fragmented world. There’s a particular kind of loneliness in being "connected" all the time. You can follow a thousand people, jump into a dozen different discussions, and still feel like you’re shouting into a vacuum. We’ve mastered the art of the broadcast, but we’re still struggling with the art of the dialogue. It’s all signal and very little substance—much like those old television broadcasts that used to flicker in living rooms across the country, full of static and broken promises. Anyway, I digress. I suppose my point—if there is one buried under this rambling—is that we should probably slow down. Stop chasing the next notification and start looking for the things that actually hold weight. Whether it's a real conversation over coffee or a long, thoughtful debate on a niche forum, let's try to find the substance again. Or don't. I'm just a guy with too many thoughts and not enough bandwidth to process them all. Best regards.

Thanks... though I might just end up figuring it out on my own as time goes by.
LP

So, this—what I’m typing right now, and what you just wrote...
Reddit—how can you possibly not know that? 😕 A forum is everything—it’s that space where people gather to debate, dissect ideas, and, let’s be honest, get into heated arguments. It’s the digital town square. If you really dig into the root of the word, it’s actually part of the fabric of a city—think of it like the old Roman plazas or even just a local community center where everyone meets to hash things out. It's the heartbeat of public discourse.😉
The structure of a subreddit—it’s essentially organized into various subreddits based on the specific topics being discussed.
The current thread—let's say we're looking at something like "Names and Meanings"—is where all the action is happening right now.
I'll skip the URL for now...😳
Ask someone else.
LP—if you happened to run into them through the music scene, Les Paul

Or is "LP" just some kind of shorthand greeting you decided to throw in there? 🤔 😬

Look, let’s just entertain the idea for a second—suppose someone actually had the time or inclination to read everyone's private messages.

I mean, realistically, why would they waste their breath digging through YOUR inbox? We have 90,000 registered users on this platform... (🙄). It’s just not how the math works.

Actually, if anything, you've probably just increased the odds of being noticed by making such a massive scene over this thread... 🙄

So, you’re actually suggesting we should be writing things so personally that nobody could ever catch a glimpse?

As far as I'm concerned—and believe me, if anyone ever wanted to audit my digital paper trail—you could go ahead and read every single private message I've ever sent...🥳
You missed the last bracket... you're missing the "" at the end (and I don't mean the quotes)

And you need to close that square bracket up there...

It really ought to look like this

Exactly—that's my point from earlier... the little status light stays lit for another 15-20 minutes, making us think we're still active when we've actually already checked out...☕

Sandra Parker3 said:Unless they actually clicked logout—as far as I can tell, anyway—and didn't bother checking that "remember me" box or whatever that little toggle is called, they shouldn't be staying logged in.

So, what exactly am I supposed to make of this—that my light stays solid green twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week? 🤔

Sandra Parker3 said:Whether we’re talking about folklore or not—honestly, I wasn't claiming to be an expert here—I was just stating my own take on how things seem to work. I'm certainly not standing there with a PhD in sociology, so don't hold me to it; I'm just sharing what I suspect is the case.
I'm not exactly losing sleep over it—truth be told, I couldn't care less—but my wife went ahead and asked.
By the way—this didn't just spontaneously materialize out of thin air in my head—I’ve been doing my homework right here on the forums. And as I was digging through the threads, I noticed something rather telling: not a single moderator has stepped in to actually dispute what I've been saying... so, well... the silence speaks for itself. 🙄

Honestly, even the mods have lost the plot at this point—they’re clearly overstepping—and as for that specific post, I’m fairly certain you completely missed the sarcasm...☕

Take a second to actually look at yourself—really scrutinize your own post history—and maybe you’ll come to some sort of realization...

And that’s with a very heavy emphasis on the word "maybe."

Oh, absolutely—the mods can read your posts whenever they feel like it. Heck, checking up on what people are saying in private messages is practically part of their daily grind...🙄 ☕

Back to the main topic: from what I’ve gathered, whenever someone claims they're heading offline and actually disappears, that little status light usually stays lit for another 10 or 15 minutes before finally cutting out.
