How to quote just a word or sentence instead of the whole post?

I am quite certain I haven't lost my faculties, but for some reason, I find myself utterly incapable of quoting a specific sentence or even a single word when attempting to reply to someone else's post. If anyone could offer some coherent guidance on how to navigate this, I would be most grateful.

Basically, when you're quoting someone, just delete whatever parts you don't need from the quote block 😉

For example, to get something like this:

Just wipe out the text inside the quote, but leave the brackets alone... you can only edit the actual text.

And if you actually meant that you don't know how to start a quote at all, just hit that "quote" button on the side.👍

You missed the last bracket... you're missing the "" at the end (and I don't mean the quotes)

And you need to close that square bracket up there...

It really ought to look like this

forum member said:today is a beautiful sunny day


Leave out that extra period inside the final bracket
