I’m not entirely sure what I’m hoping to achieve by starting this thread; maybe I just need a little bit of support, or even some insults or sympathy—honestly, anything just to feel like someone is talking to me, because I feel incredibly lonely. 😢

So, I guess I should start from the beginning. Back in high school, I was an excellent student without ever really having to try, which meant I never actually developed any real work ethic. I managed to get into the university I wanted without much trouble and moved away from my small hometown to this massive city. When the first deadlines rolled around, I passed a couple of exams, and then suddenly—just like that—everything changed. College felt pointless, I realized it wasn't what I actually wanted to do, and I just lost all motivation to study. I ended up spending most of the next two months just lying around the house, watching TV, or out drinking. Since attendance isn't strictly mandatory at my university, I took full advantage of that, and for the next few months, the campus didn't see me at all. By the time the next round of finals came, I hadn't passed a single thing, and that continued for the next three years. As my friends from school started moving into their senior years, we had less and less to talk about, our schedules stopped lining up, and bit by bit, I just drifted away. Yeah, I don't have anyone. I grew distant from everyone back home, lost touch with the people from college, and honestly, I don't even know who I could grab a coffee with tomorrow if I wanted to.

I'm 23 now, and I have no idea what my future holds. I don't have any real job skills to speak of, so I can't exactly be independent and stop relying on my parents, though I suppose I don't spend too much money since, as I mentioned, I have no one to go out with. I've basically locked myself in my apartment and stopped leaving. A few times a week I'll head to the grocery store or maybe take a short walk, but the rest of my time is spent in front of the TV or online; I've written ten thousand posts here, for goodness' sake. 😳

Nothing brings me joy anymore; every day feels identical. I only change out of my pajamas under very unusual circumstances, and I feel quite pathetic. I'm no expert, but I suspect I might be dealing with depression. There have been moments where I've thought about just ending it all to stop this stagnation, but I'm quickly snapped back to reality by the thought that I have no friends and no one would even show up to my funeral, which would lead my mom to realize things aren't as great as I tell her they are. 😢

I realize that my behavior is terribly childish and immature; I'm aware of it all. I spend my nights crying and feeling desperate, feeling small and worthless and ashamed, yet I just can't seem to force myself to change. I'll sit down to study, and then my mind just drifts away, and that's that. I don't know, I really don't. And I suppose I'm doing this for selfish reasons, just wanting to find some relief for my soul.

If anyone actually read this, I apologize for venting like this, but I feel a little bit better now. 😢

Are you my long-lost twin?

Man, I'm in the exact same boat. You overthink things, you show up, you overthink again, and then you retreat. Except, in my case, a professional actually gave me a diagnosis...

Don't sweat it too much; sometimes taking a risk or finding some kind of action is the only thing that keeps you going. 😉
And hey, you aren't the most miserable person out there; there are always people going through even worse stuff.
Yours sounds a lot like mine, but I guess we're lucky compared to others.
To be honest, I used to feel the same way, but now I've got entirely different problems to deal with.😁
The thing is, there’s just never enough 😉
Serious sports betting addiction in Psychology ·
I have to admit, I’m a bit of an addict when it comes to this stuff.
It started out small—just tiny little wagers—but then they grew. Before I knew it, I was glued to the sports tickers all day, and once those amounts spiked, I found myself obsessively tracking every single league imaginable. It wasn't working, so I tried narrowing my focus down to just the NHL, but even then, I ended up blowing it. Eventually, I had to throw in the towel. 👍

Actually, it's not that I quit entirely—I've just shifted to betting much smaller amounts.

Self-control really is the name of the game, along with some serious rational thinking. If you could actually win easily at a sportsbook, there wouldn't be fifteen massive chains across the US with thousands of locations. There certainly wouldn't have been billions of dollars in profit sitting on the books back in 2008. No way.

Placing huge bets brings an intense level of tension—that massive adrenaline rush—which people sometimes try to substitute by chasing higher odds or bigger multipliers. But honestly? That initial adrenaline addiction eventually gets replaced by an addiction to pride—that feeling you get when you finally cash in a parlay with 6-to-1 or 18-to-1 odds. Just please, don't walk into a sportsbook thinking, "Well, since I can hit a 6-to-1er, I might as well bet $667" because that's exactly when you'll lose it all. At that point, you aren't playing for the thrill of the game anymore; you're just chasing the payout.

Just head over to the bank—don't forget to bring your driver's license!
Fill out a deposit slip or a transfer authorization

Once you set up the wire transfer
and carefully enter both account numbers
just hand everything over to the friendly teller at the window
she’ll give you a quick smile and handle the whole thing for you 😉😉

And, naturally, you’ll need to be either the primary account holder or an authorized signer on the specific account you're withdrawing funds from

Karen Brooks said:Look, I can definitely give you some recommendations for the local street fairs—that's really why I'm asking. Though, it might be a bit of a trek if you're staying right near downtown.

The street fairs are pretty decent... just shoot me a DM or a message with the details.

Honestly, the specific neighborhood doesn't matter all that much—it's not like we're trying to navigate the boroughs of New York City! It’s pretty easy to get anywhere these days... I just really need a recommendation for someone reliable who takes Medicare.

My previous dentist was actually my cousin—so he never charged me a dime! Now, being a student here in the States, I believe I’m entitled to full health coverage through my plan... or something along those lines. Does that actually cover dental work too, or do most dentists just expect you to show up with cash in hand?

Could someone please point me toward a solid dentist here in ST? I just moved to town and need to get my dental records transferred over from my old doctor 🙄—but honestly, I have no clue who is actually any good around here. Also, does anyone know if they typically take most major insurance providers or how that works out locally?

Thanks so much!

Stealing, accompanied by broken bones and a fair amount of killing, is basically right there in my job description 😎
Franklin D. Roosevelt was truly one of a kind—I mean, think about it—he managed to bring together six different states, six distinct ethnic groups, two different scripts, and three major religions under one banner... honestly, there is just so much about his leadership that commands our respect.
😬 It honestly feels like the biggest son of the American people is actually carrying the heaviest burden of the entire American people, if you ask me 😲
