Quick question about lenses :) in Health ·
Amanda Alvarez35 said:But soft contact lenses can be such a struggle for some people to wear. I spent an entire year trying to make them work, but my eyes just never seemed to adjust.Everything felt off, and I always felt like I was looking through a strange film... it just wasn't meant to be.

It is possible that the lenses weren't manufactured quite right for your specific needs. I actually had a very similar experience with my first pair of soft contacts; I struggled with them for a full year. However, once I switched to a different brand at my eye doctor, they were absolutely perfect! You should definitely let your optometrist know if they don't feel right, as they might be able to "fine-tune" them by adjusting the edges or the fit.

Of course, I realize there are people who simply aren't "lens candidates" and find them impossible to tolerate no matter what... but I truly believe it is worth checking a few different options before giving up entirely. Contact lenses can be life-changing if you find the right match. 👍

That’s an interesting question, though I can't quite wrap my head around why you decided to categorize it under 'health'?? 🤔
Exactly, it's meant to go around your neck... its whole purpose is to ensure that if you, person, happen to lose them, they don't just vanish into thin air.
It’s much like how kids wear those little straps on their glasses just to make sure they stay put and don't end up shattered on the floor.😉

p.s.—just to be clear, this isn't a wire.😂🤣

From what I understand, soft contact lenses aren't really an option for managing keratoconus, since you essentially need a lens that can provide enough structural pressure to reshape the cornea; this ensures the image projects more clearly onto the retina without causing any double vision or blurring.
I haven't actually heard of anyone living with keratoconus who uses soft lenses... 🤷

I definitely agree, though I still have another year of college left, so I "have" to stay on the pill. My partner isn't exactly thrilled about it, but since condoms aren't really an option for us—we’ve been together a long time, so there's no worry about STIs, though honestly, things haven't been particularly great lately 😁 😉—I'm sticking with the oral contraceptives. To be truthful, though, I can't wait to finally be done with them; I've been taking them for nearly eight years now 😢, which probably isn't the healthiest track record...

I suppose there isn't much we can do about it at this point... 🤷

It isn't actually necessary to be that precise, especially since we aren't dealing with an antibiotic...
I'm curious where you're getting your information from? 😕 😕 😕

I’m actually about to switch over to Diana soon, and honestly, I’m almost hoping my libido drops below zero, because living with this constant, overwhelming drive is becoming quite difficult to manage.😢

To be honest, Diana feels even harsher than Triquilar; when I was on them originally, the experience was just terrible. I gained a significant amount of weight, and then once I stopped taking them, I experienced sudden weight loss, fatigue, heavy periods, and breakouts.😢 I can't say for certain it will be the same for you, but my own experience with them was definitely negative.

It seems I’m facing many of the same struggles that most of you seem to be dealing with lately.🙂
To be honest, I used Yasmin for years and it always felt absolutely perfect for me.😍However, after my most recent break, I decided to switch over to Loestrin just because it was more budget-friendly. That turned out to be a total nightmare; I felt constantly irritable, and my libido completely vanished.😢
Eventually, I tried returning to my reliable old Yasmin, but unfortunately, those same frustrating symptoms followed me right over from the Loestrin.😢The hardest part to wrap my head around is that Yasmin worked so beautifully for so long, yet now, suddenly, it feels like it does nothing at all.🤷
So, I took another two-month break—during which my libido managed to recover somewhat—😁and my gynecologist prescribed Triquilar. Everyone seems to rave about how great it is, so I gave it a shot... but once again, I’m dealing with the exact same issues with my sex drive.🙂

I truly can’t understand why every single pill I’ve tried this year has had such a negative impact on me. Has anyone else gone through something similar? I would deeply appreciate any advice or shared experiences you might have.😕 😕

Steam therapy for that area???? 😁
It sounds rather intriguing, actually 😉

Is it actually true that you need to start taking birth control pills six months before having sex? If that isn't the case, when is the right time to begin using them before becoming sexually active?
Thanks...

haha 😁 NO!!!!
You can start taking them whenever you choose, though obviously you should visit a gynecologist first for a check-up and a consultation (for instance, if you want to start at the beginning of your next cycle, you'd just go in for your exam this month).
Different types of pills work in different ways. For example, these "next-generation" ones (like Yasmin or Loestrin) are effective from the very first day of use, whereas others (like Diane-35) might require you to take them for a full month before you're protected. You also have to keep in mind that protection is never 100% guaranteed; as it says everywhere, it’s more like 99%.😛
Anyway, there is absolutely no need to start them six months in advance... that would be quite nonsensical.
Do you know if there are any 24-hour pharmacies open in town today?
Tell them that you have to start taking it today, and that you didn't pick it up sooner because you completely forgot it was Labor Day.
I honestly don't know what else to tell you, or even how wise it might be to delay starting the pill. I'm really not sure myself, and I don't know anyone who has dealt with this specific situation before.🤷

Andrew Cooper82 said:I ended up doing it—after taking a three-day break from the whole thing—simply because I wanted to actually enjoy a decent week at the beach without any drama. But then I started experiencing some spotting that was a bit heavier than usual, and honestly, it made me incredibly anxious. It felt like I was just leaking a little bit every single day for an entire month. Based on that mess, I would definitely advise you against skipping a cycle; it’s better to just push through and move straight onto the next one.

Oh, please don't restart after only three days—you really need to wait the full seven! You absolutely must take that seven-day break every single time.

That’s exactly how I handled it (meaning a seven-day break) and I never ran into any issues at all.🤷

Peter Kern5 said:So, here’s the deal... I have a question... I started taking Yasmin on March 5th... but I didn't actually do that one-week break—you know, the gap you're supposed to take—and just jumped straight into a new pack instead. Today is my very last pill, and the entire time I've been on this second pack, I've been dealing with this constant discharge... at first it was brown, but after about a week, it turned into actual bleeding. I honestly have no clue what is going on with my body right now... so, if any girl out there has gone through something similar and could help me out, I would be seriously grateful... 😁

It’s likely just your body reacting because you didn't give it that chance to reset (have your period), so things are getting a little chaotic internally. 😉Honestly, your best bet is to reach out to a gynecologist for some professional advice. I don't actually know anyone who has skipped their break like that—since most people usually stop a few days early if they want to shift their cycle—so I can't really offer much more than that. 🤷
Hmm, this is certainly an interesting topic to dive into, and I find myself relating to it quite a bit 😉
To be honest, my skin is pretty pale, and I’ve spent some time considering whether tanning beds might serve as a sort of "sun prep," though I haven't quite pulled the trigger on going yet. While I managed to have one large mole removed, I still have several smaller moles and beauty marks scattered about; since I fall into that Type I skin category—the kind that tends to burn easily rather than tan—I feel a certain level of hesitation regarding tanning salons 😢 🤷
Hehe... I suppose there's a real possibility I'll just end up turning bright red instead of actually getting a glow 😁 😉

Does anyone here have any firsthand experience with this? 😕

Yes, just like Aaron Garcia3 said... or you could simply wrap up this packing process three days early, take a seven-day breather, and then dive back into everything on the eighth day—assuming you can pull that off, of course, since you haven't mentioned when the wedding guests are actually arriving.

That's a wise move!
Go ahead and get that sorted out; I suspect you'll feel much better once it's done.

You can never truly know if today will be the last time you see someone, and if we had that foresight, we would cherish every single moment instead of living with such regret. But there really is no reason to dwell on it, because you haven't done anything wrong. Even if you had been stuck somewhere far away, unable to make it home, I think you would still find a way to blame yourself regardless of the circumstances.
It isn't a bad thing to let those emotions out and have a good cry; in fact, it helps quite a bit. It is important to release everything you're feeling, otherwise, it starts to take a heavy toll on your well-being.
It is entirely possible that witnessing your grandfather's passing is weighing on you now, creating a fear that something similar might happen to you or your loved ones. I am so incredibly sorry that you had to endure such a difficult experience😢 but I truly believe your grandfather would have found comfort knowing you were with him in spirit, even during the moments when you couldn't be there physically.
If this is what's driving your current struggles—which makes perfect sense given how traumatic losing both grandfathers within a single year can be—I honestly think it might be beneficial to speak with a professional. There is absolutely no shame in that. Personally, I feel like almost everyone could benefit from seeing a therapist these days; it's so hard to function normally in such a frantic, high-pressure society where everyone expects so much from you, leaving you with virtually no time for yourself. It’s only natural that you’d start worrying about your health and begin interpreting every little symptom as a sign of something being wrong.😢
Please, do consider talking to someone. I truly believe it will help lighten your load. And remember, whatever you share stays strictly between you and the professional, so you don't need to worry about privacy.

If I’m understanding you correctly, all of these issues started back last June when you were dealing with those rib pains. You went down a rabbit hole with medical searches, and ever since then, you've been stuck in this loop of worrying that something is fundamentally wrong. Then, suddenly, it feels like everything is bothering you—like every little thing hurts and nothing is quite right, even today. But your test results are actually fine, that spot on your leg hasn't changed in years, and deep down, I think you realize you might be overthinking things a bit. It seems to me that you're perhaps being a little too much of a hypochondriac 🙂 Now, I know it's perfectly natural to worry about your health, but feeling like everything is painful or uncomfortable isn't exactly the norm. I can't really offer any profound medical advice through a computer screen, since you can't truly get to know someone just by typing, but my best suggestion would be to see a psychologist—and I don't mean a psychiatrist, because you probably don't want to deal with being put on heavy medication and such. Don't worry, they aren't scary 😉
It’s actually quite common. I know a woman who experiences the exact same thing whenever she has to present in front of a large group, like when she's leading a major corporate seminar or something similar. It’s just a bit of stress, really; our minds can be such fickle things. 😉
