Can I get in through Gerald Barrett3?
Hey everyone. Dealing with hypothyroidism lately. Just got my labs back after five months, and honestly, things are looking up—hormones, cholesterol, iron levels... everything is pretty much back within the normal range. The only outlier is my MPV, which is still a bit high. It was 11.8 before, now it’s sitting at 11.4.
Basically, I want to know what MPV actually stands for and what it’s usually linked to.
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
So, we're dealing with childhood obesity here. Does anyone know of a good specialist or clinic for an evaluation and some actual guidance?
The pediatrician claims we don't need to do anything because he'll just "grow out of it," but honestly, it's getting worrying—I'm concerned about the long-term health implications...
Plus, weight issues run in the family (dad, grandma, grandpa—most are well over 220 lbs).
If anyone has leads, please let me know.
I’m sticking with my current OBGYN. I told myself if Dr. Colak drains me dry, he won't be seeing me again... but honestly, after that 5/5 experience, I couldn't believe how much of an NEbolan a Pap smear can actually feel like. And yeah, I'm staying put. It's a huge win because he's actually nice—we just had a normal conversation. For once, I can walk into a clinic without feeling that constant wave of fear, discomfort, or shame.
Thanks for the heads-up. Both my grandma and aunt dealt with thyroid issues—my aunt actually had surgery for it. I decided to get checked out because of some other symptoms I’ve been having. I just scrolled through the thyroid threads, and honestly, people with elevated TSH don't have it nearly as bad as I do. This is way too much. Ugh, I feel sick.
Hey,
Got my blood work back today and... I'm lost. Can anyone actually help me make sense of this? No one answering my previous questions has been direct or helpful.
I’ll just list the ones that are out of range: (K)MCV 100.3 (83.0-97.2)
(K)PLATELETS 157 (158-424)
(K)MPV 11.8 (6.8-10.4)
(S) GLUCOSE 4.0 (4.2-6.0)
LDL CHOLESTEROL 3.6 ( S CHOLESTEROL 5.8 ( S Fe 7.9 (8-30)
S T4 60 (66-181)
And the one that's really freaking me out— S TSH 165.7 !! (0.27-4.2)

Just did the draw. Heading to my primary care doctor tomorrow to figure out the next steps.
First Communion gift ideas? in Students & Teens ·
Back when I had my First Communion about 15 years ago, my parents gave me a little cross pendant and some earrings. We just did a nice lunch at home with the immediate family.
It was the same story for Confirmation—a family meal and some gold jewelry, like necklaces or bracelets. Nothing over the top. We were actually celebrating the sacraments themselves, not just counting down the days until we got presents, which seems to be how it works now.
Nowadays, kids aren't shy about asking for a laptop or a scooter... honestly, where does it end?
I know someone who was a godmother for a Confirmation, and the gift was an expensive designer watch plus $333 extra cash for the kid to spend on whatever they wanted. It’s tacky.
People don't respect the sacraments anymore; kids just don't connect with them.
