I actually pulled it off. I managed to track down some drivers on a random third-party site, and they actually worked without crashing the installation.

Go check for updates in Windows Settings (make sure to include optional updates), and if that fails, head over to Device Manager to find the device; if it shows up as an unknown device, try to manually update or install the driver there.

By the way, did you actually grab the 64-bit driver from the official website?

It's the official driver and it matches the OS perfectly. None of that works. The system doesn't recognize it at any level whatsoever.

I’ve been digging through those solutions people suggest on the HP forums... you know, the ones where they tell you to hunt down some random .exe file buried in your Temp folder—except it isn't there. Or the advice to just wipe out all the old HP files and start from scratch, which sounds great in theory, but I can't find any of them to delete in the first place.

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s actually dealt with this. Most online shops don't even pull the funds immediately; they just place a hold on the card and don't actually charge it until the item ships. My new card is currently in the mail, so I guess I'll find out soon enough.

It would be a huge win if we could dodge those nasty exchange rate fees, especially since my bank takes anything not billed in dollars and runs it through a double conversion process before it ever hits my account.
